25.01.2022 I have personally had so much success with using Magnesium Chloride for horses, dogs and humans that I have decided to become a distributor. This has come as a direct result of my therapy clients asking me where they can buy more, as they have seen the transformation occur after only a few days of using the samples I give to clients :) Symptoms of magnesium deficiency include: muscular cramps, spasms and twitching, irritability, over-reaction to stressors and skittishness, in...sulin resistance, fatigue, immune suppression therefore skin problems, inflammation, swelling, arthritis. I will soon write an article on the many benefits of MgCl and why it is absorbed so much better than magnesium Oxide (the common magnesium in supplements) - so watch this space!! In the meantime, I am offering high quality human grade ElektraLife Magnesium Chloride at $25/Kg. Trial size bags are also available at $7.50 for 250g. Please contact me for more information or to buy some - I cannot recommend it highly enough.

24.01.2022 Equine and Canine Massage is extremely proud to sponsor Working Equitation Hawkesbury to Hunter Inc. Working Equitation is "a fun way to train seriously." What could be better? It comprises four different phases based on skills and horsemanship derived "from the field". These phases are Dressage, Ease of Handling over obstacles, obstacles at speed, and cattle work (this phase is not included due to a lack of cows). The organisation is extremely supportive to all its members, and I urge those not yet involved to have a look at what it's all about! www.facebook.com/WEQH2H

24.01.2022 Fun and games at Petite Paws Doggy Daycare, Erina this morning. A great place for dogs under 10kg - also offering natural food & treats, dog coats, harnesses etc. Even an aromatherapy room and scent trails for the lucky doggy guests! Highly recommended :)

20.01.2022 Wow what a busy month!! I have been refreshing my biomechanic assessment skills with world leading equine anatomist Sharon May-Davis, plus I've been flat chat with clients including a mob of rescue Brumbies who were pretty fearful of people, but so much improved after just one session...for further details see www.equinecaninemassage.com.au/blog/ In 2015 I am starting some day-long equine workshops in conjunction with my "partner" rehabilitation and agistment stables Emerald Equine, Mandalong. I will be covering topics such as how to guard against injury, how to recognise issues before they become a problem, bony landmarks, and stretching horses for core strength and flexibility.

19.01.2022 An understanding of your horses' nutritional needs can impact on their performance, mood, all-round health, hoof quality etc. I always ask what a horse is fed at the initial assessment as it can be very relevant to the behavioural or musculoskeletal problems which I am there to treat.

19.01.2022 Needs no other words..... Please share.

19.01.2022 Here is one of my clients doing what he loves best... good onya Prospect!!

17.01.2022 A very good explanation of why the phrase "my horse is out at the hip/poll/neck etc" does not make sense.

15.01.2022 Canine natural training, nutrition and massage 2 day course, featuring leading professional speakers. Equine and Canine Massage is pleased to offer a 20% discount - That's just $150 for 2 days - amazing value. THIS WEEKEND - BE QUICK! Main speaker Jenny Golsby has moved away from traditional training techniques and has spent over 20 years focusing on the dogs psychology and how they speak to us. She takes us on a journey into understanding what your dog is telling you and how... to respond appropriately to better connect with your furry friend. Whether you have a new puppy to nurture into a happy and well adjusted adult or an older dog or rescue that is unhappy and showing issues such as barking, jumping the fence, pulling on the lead or anxiety etc her gentle techniques based on the latest research and techniques from Europe can help all our dogs lead a great life as a loved and respected part of the family through finding the root cause of their issues. Focusing on what the dog needs rather than using a lot of training, directions and commands allows you to destress your dog and help them back to equilibrium. Jenny will also be talking about the importance of enrichment and play and showing you fun ways to keep your dogs stimulated. Joining her are Central Coast well known dog professionals Sharlene Goodsworth from the Canine Holistic Wellness Centre and Louise Bailey from Equine & Canine Massage Therapy. Sharlene will be unravelling the mysteries around what to feed your dogs and how natural therapies can support your dogs health and well being - Louise will be focusing on their physical structures and how to keep their bodies strong and supple throughout their lives. This weekend is for owners, rescue workers and pet professionals Please note -No dogs at this event - for humans only $185 for the 2 days including refreshments Call Emily on 0468847822 or visit www.petitepaws.info

14.01.2022 Thank you Louise I've really enjoyed my time with you this week! Your expertise and great results have been mind blowing..... Looking forward to next time

12.01.2022 So who's up for some fun AND competition? It's the WEQ Nationals soon and you don't need to be a member to join in...

11.01.2022 Acupressure works extremely well on horses and dogs. This clip shows a lady I trained with (under Amy Snow) explaining a little bit more :)

10.01.2022 If anyone is thinking of buying a flat faced trendy dog breed such as a Pug, Shi tzu, French bulldog etc - please read this first. I see so many in my practice with major health problems - such as difficulty breathing, eye problems, allergies and so on - that are classed as being 'just characteristics of the breed'. That to me signals a breeding programme which is not addressing some fundamental issues. Please don't get me wrong - I love the characters of these dogs, and ther...e are many responsible breeders who don't make these inherent problems any worse. But there are also buyers who don't realise that these problems exist at all. I am just trying to share the knowledge :) When I travelled here with my own staffy x, I noted the airlines wouldn't transport certain flat faced breeds due to their inability to breathe correctly and therefore their risk of expiration during transit. And we keep those breeds in a hot country with high humidity....OK enough education for one day!

10.01.2022 Also for those who don't know Meg (Rotty x Mastiff), she is a gorgeous 10 y.o. forelimb amputee who had begun to limp with the hind leg on the same side. Vet diagnosed posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) degeneration, and this picture beautifully illustrates a gentle PCL passive stretch with the stifle joint supported, following red light treatment and a thorough massage of the area to both relax, and move blood and toxins to allow cell regeneration (healing).

09.01.2022 Hi Louise, just popping over to extend a huge thanks for sponsoring Working Equitation Hawkesbury to Hunter! Look fwd to catching up on some training days!

04.01.2022 More photos of Louise at work this week! Fantastic results she is getting Equine and Canine Massage

04.01.2022 I said that I wouldn't be organising any more workshops this year as I'm so busy - so here it is! Sharon May-Davis is coming to run her amazing Biomechanics wor...kshop in Armidale on 8-9 November, in the superb facilities offered by NEGS. The venue is 5 mins from the airport by taxi (we can organise lifts as well), close to the town centre and numerous motels, and just off the New England Highway. If you need budget accommodation, it's available on site. Then we have a teaching room with all the audiovisual facilities and an indoor arena for the workshop itself. So, maybe you see why I ended up running just one more... Cost is $325, which represents incredible value for a teacher of Sharon's calibre. For more details, contact [email protected] See more

03.01.2022 Day 1 of another equine dissection with Sharon May-Davies. Every dissection is so different and today we have found a massive hematoma in the sinus cavity, a nasal tumour, fractured scapular, atrophied supra spinatus, infra spinatus and deltoid (muscles in the shoulder),hypertrophied cervical trapezius (a superficial muscle in the neck) and teres minor (small muscle near the point of shoulder). These hypertrophied, or enlarged muscles are compensating for the atrophied (weak...ened and undersized) muscles, and are an indication of an instability in those areas. Also some very deep bruising in the thoracic trapezius and spinalis (muscles in the wither area) which are indicative of a saddle impingement where the points of the tree would be. The hematoma in the sinus cavity had deformed the front of the face significantly and this poor horse must have been in a lot of pain from all these issues but he has given us the gift of knowledge that we can use to help others. 01.01.2022 Highly recommended - Carol Layton has a wealth of knowledge regarding equine nutrition and the scientific facts and research underpinning that knowledge.
