25.01.2022 Dear Horse lovers, We are aware that in the current drought situation many of you may have decided not to offer embryo transfer to clients due to the lack of suitable recipient mares available or because you may have released your recipient mare band. Over the past few seasons we have been very successful receiving shipped embryos from other clinics and would be in a position to offer this service to anyone wanting to start out doing embryo transfer or anyone that may not ha...ve an extensive herd available. We are currently running a herd of more than 70 mares that are suitable for shipped embryos or available for lease on application. Our recipients are monitored regularly for ovulations & assessment of uterine environments. We are using mainly Standardbreds and some Thoroughbreds. All our recipients are in excellent body condition, wormed, have current Hendra and 2 in 1 vaccination status and receive all necessary veterinary attention. Our mares run in herds and are in general easy to catch and handle and good with other horses. If you are considering embryo shipments, we need to be advised of the donor’s ovulation time & date as soon as possible so we can choose a suitable recipient. Collected embryos should be prepared according to your normal protocol & then shipped as quickly as possible. (Please call if you require information regarding shipment) For further information on pricing of shipped embryos or leasing of mares, please contact Robbie in our Equivet office on 07 4691 0322 or by email on [email protected] We look forward to hearing from you & wish you the best under the current trying conditions. 11.01.2022 R U Breeding? The breeding season is almost upon us again & our Equivet team is raring to go! The drought has not completely broken (our spring is still dry) but that wonderful fertility drug, Doctor Green has finally given us a visit & we will have green feed for your girls. The Covid 19 lockdown has given us the opportunity to spruce the centre up a little - except for a few dead trees & hedges, it is looking superb. We are expecting a busy season so get your bookings in ...now to avoid disappointment. Embryo Transfer - we were forced by the drought to reduce our recipient numbers so, if you are contemplating ET, please let us know so we can replenish our numbers if required. Anybody requesting early embryos (September) should let us know so we can put some recipients under lights to get them cycling early. At this stage travel restrictions should, if all goes well, be minimal (except for Victoria) in time for September. If you are contemplating using frozen semen from Australia or overseas, please do your homework & investigate the fertility of any stallions you are planning to use. Robyn knows many of them so please feel free to ask her. (0439 910 414) If the stallion is unknown, please ask the questions- A) Has the semen been used successfully? B) How many live foals were produced & from how many attempts? C) What dose was used? How many straws? What was the recommendation of the original semen freezing technician? D) Preferably ask for the names of veterinarians who have used it. To book or enquire regarding our services, please phone the office on 07 4691 0322 & speak to Robbie Daley or Robyn Johansen. We look forward to seeing you in September & on into the new year. See more

11.01.2022 This little ripper was born at Equivet about a week ago. Conceived by frozen semen by the fabulous jumping stallion Conquistador.

09.01.2022 Friesian mare Chanel and her foal Fairytale Horse

09.01.2022 A sign of the times---our Grasstrees (Blackboys before we became so sensitive) are dying. These fellows grow in the poorest country & with minimal rainfall. They take almost 20 years from seed to appearance above the ground & then grow at about 1 inch per year so the healthy one is probably over 100 years old. The dead ones would be about 50 years old. Amazing plants but this drought has defeated them!

09.01.2022 Robyn & Max & all at Equivet wish our wonderful clients & friends a joyous Xmas & a happy, successful & wet 2020.

09.01.2022 THEY SAY THERES A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING Today we successfully collected our first ever Donkey! Pedro arrived to us on Monday & having never really stepped off his home property since he was imported, he took a couple of days to settle in to his new environment. After much contemplation of how we were going to achieve this, it ended up being a piece of cake! Pedro, the old pro, showed us just how smart Donkeys are. Here he is with our champion Jack/ Stallion handler &... Veterinarian, Susanne, telling him what a good boy he is. Pedro had a smile from ear to ear...And they’re certainly the biggest ears we’ve ever seen!! His jovial bray is the loudest, most sensational sound & it brings a smile to everyone’s faces. .....If Breeding Season gets a little too hectic & suddenly, no one can find me...You can bet I’ll be hanging out with Pedro. #donkey #mules #donkeysofinstagram Black Jack Mules Susanne Brundell

08.01.2022 WANTED: RECIPIENT MARES Do you have a mare/ mares sitting in the paddock not doing anything? One you're finished competing on & don't wish to breed? Equivet Breeding Centre provides an Embryo Transfer program, where we take a fertilised embryo from your mare & transfer this embryo into a recipient, who then carries the pregnancy & rears the foal. This allows mares to remain in competition, whilst producing progeny at the same time. This season we have an increased number of b...ookings for Embryo Transfer, creating the need to expand our Recipient herd. If you have or know of any suitable mares that tick the following criteria, we would love to hear from you. Mares must be: - Young (preferably under the age of 10) - Fertile & Reproductively sound - Healthy & sound in themselves, with good feet - Easy to handle Please Phone: 07 4691 0322 or Email: [email protected]

06.01.2022 CHILLED OR FROZEN SEMEN? With Covid-19 casting doubt over the timely shipment of chilled semen, it is a great idea for stallion owners to make frozen semen available - as a back up! Including "Shines Like Metallic," we have a number of stallions on the books - with frozen semen waiting in our nitrogen tanks. Contact the owner of your desired stallion to find out whether you can get access to frozen semen, in order to avoid disappointment this breeding season.

04.01.2022 DYING MAN TEARS UP AS EMPATHY HORSE LOCKS EYES. YOU MUST WATCH! If you subscribe to Everyone Matters, you know we are all about having a loving heart, empath...y, caring about others, and for ourselves. Being LOVING. This video is for you - well, it's for everyone. We ALL want connection. And when we suffer- like when we are ill - we are all our inner child - inside afraid, trying to be strong, hold it together, but also tender and afraid, which we try to push away. All that non-verbally manifests in this incredibly-special 3-minute video, as we follow a remarkably sensitive horse who is brought to visit patients in the hospital (he also visits the dying elderly, the dying children, and those with Alzheimers, in various locations.) This video captures beautiful Peyo, a chestnut horse, who empathetically goes to patients needing comfort. Amazingly, Peyo tells his trainer which room he wants to go in. The trainer never leads the way, but follows Peyo's lead. We watch Peyo enter the room of a man we are told is dying, who seems to be trying to hold it together, but also appears emotionally shut down. Peyo stop and locks eyes with the man. The man locks eyes, and stares back into the horse's empathetic eyes. And they both simply stare - yes, COMMUNE. The man finally breaks the wall holding his emotion, and starts to weep. He on some level is reacting to the horse seeing into him. (Who of us doesn't know that moment - when we are trying to hold it together, but something pushes past that house of cards??) Peyo's trainer describes that moment of their connection: "pure" and "honest. And then adds the profound kicker: "They like each other very much without asking for anything else. Thank you, Peyo. And thank you to the makers of this video, who SO understand that we ALL need connection to other beating hearts. (Human and furry loved ones). We need people to SEE our beating (sometimes wounded) heart. In this case, Peyo goes where wounded hearts are beating, souls needing comfort, hearts needing to be seen, needing the joy of simple heartbeat connection. - HeathCliff Rothman #Everyonematters

02.01.2022 Just magnificent to watch

01.01.2022 So here's some really, really good news for the racing industry in the shape of a lovely story that hasn't received nearly as much publicity from the mainstream... media as it should have. It's a fairy tale story about a splendid big red gelding called Double Impact who made the amazing transition from being a good racehorse to being a wonderful showjumper when he won the Just Raced section of the Jump Off competition held near Sydney last week. Its an even better story about two longtime mates in the middle of the drought stepping up and helping each other. The legendary showjumper and former Olympian Ron Easey- who rode Double Impact - became good mates with Oakey-based racehorse trainer Wayne Crompton around the country show circuit when Wayne was still only a kid. "Ron was somebody you looked up to," Wayne said. The next bit of the story comes in the shape of Waynes partner Jackie who trained Double Impact throughout his long and successful racing career. Bred by Gerry Harvey and sold for $32,000 at the Magic Millions, he raced until he was nine, had 75 starts for 9 wins and over $500,000 in prize money. Double Impact is by Mosman and even looking at him in photographs you can see what a wonderfully game, smart and tough customer he is. After a short retirement after racing until he was 10, Wayne and Jackie wanted their big boy to have a life on the other side of racing and so they came up with a bright idea. They figured that Double Impact - now 11 - might have what it takes to be a natural showjumper so when the Jump Off competition was announced for thoroughbreds to try their hand at show jumping they decided to combine with their old friend Ron Easey and have a go. The Just Raced category was open to horses that had been off the track for two years and was worth a cool $50,000 to the winner. Jac and Wayne sent Double Impact down to Ron Easey at Quirindi for a few months training before the event - and the big horse vindicated their judgement and proved to be an absolute natural. Double Impact turned on two clear rounds at the competition to win. "The horse went fabulously," Ron said. "His success was probably due to him being a bit older. He's pretty brave and sensible. He's only been in training with us for only five months." You can imagine the celebrations down at Borneo Park - and Double Impact and his connections really did deserve it. Wayne and Jackie came back home to Oakey grinning their heads off with cash in the pocket and the satisfaction of having helped a wonderful big racehorse find a brilliant new career. Who knows what the future might hold for Double Impact in the showjumping world? He has certainly made the industry sit up with his brilliant debut at the big time. Right now Ron Easey and Wayne and Jac Crompton are back in their drought stricken home towns after a moment of magic that reminds us anything is possible. We believe in second chances for every horse and we are proud to be a part of this wonderful racing and breeding industry. These are the kind of positive stories we can't wait to hear more about. The future of racing depends on it.
