23.01.2022 Good event for a good cause! Check it out!

21.01.2022 We like to think it’s always special day when there’s a Rice program but today was extra special as we celebrated the birthday of long time volunteer and superstar Shelley Lockett! Shelley has been with our organisation as long as anyone and still continues to put her hand up and go above and beyond as cook. Her home biscuits and cakes are loved by all, she’s a true model of the Edmund Rice spirit and to quote her today there’s no better present than being here. A truely invaluable member of our community, thank you for all you do Shelley.

20.01.2022 Eddie Rice Head 2 Heart Weekend at MacKillop!!

18.01.2022 It has been a long time coming, but we have finally got all ducks in a row, so as to be able to release the video creation from our media genius Oscar Chau around the police camp run last year with participants from Hobart United Football Team. Whilst the Eddie Rice partnership with police itself has been operational for a number of years, this is the first time where we have been able to capture the magic of the occasion and put it all together in a short video format. Oscar... has done a magnificent job [Oscar nomination pending} of capturing the essence of the presence, compassion and liberation that make up the cornerstone of what we do at Eddie Rice. At a time when there is much negative publicity around youth from refugee backgrounds in other capital cities, it is truly inspiring that once again, ERCTas is at the coalface of a genuine community response where positive relationships and interactions occur for the benefit of all. This program has now become an inspiration for further follow up and is set to be a game changer that hopefully demonstrates what can be achieved when people can connect in a meaningful and positive way. 12.01.2022 A big day at the PCYC today, kindly supported by fabulous volunteers Rosa and Charlotte as well as The Webb. Keeping a 1.5 blue pole distance apart and sporting some funky masks,( for our selfie) we occupied various work stations today to tackle a literal mountain of garbage in our quest to clean up The PCYC in readiness for when camp programs resume. In the course of the day we actually discovered the back wall of the building which in 9 years I had never actually seen. Tom...morrow council are coming in to take measurements for the building of a storage unit to keep our stretchers, sleeping bags and mattresses safe and secure. The girls worked on organising our camp stuff and in amongst the stuff we found an electronic bingo board which wil definitely be having as an activity in a future camp. Having well and truly past 50, I am excited to see a potential activity that is geared towards my demographic. Have already started practising for hosting Rice Bingo in anticipation. All I now need to find are some lawn bowls in amongst the junk.Cant wait til the show begins again. Be prepared to be excited. See more

09.01.2022 Eddie Rice Camps is so proud and exciting to be going live across Tasmania tomorrow with two programs at the same time! These are our first programs since the COVID-19 Lockdown and as far as we know we are the first programs to return to active service in the community across the Nation and possibly the World!! Featured below are our two teams of volunteers who completed a wide range of pre-service training to prepare them for tomorrow. Join us in wishing them GOOD LUCK!! Tha...nks to all involved in supporting us in reaching out to our wider community in need, having some fun, making some mess and most of building a better world together! Warm regards, ERC Team!!

08.01.2022 It was an honour to stand alongside Belinda Clarke and accept a grant for $5000 from the Calvary Community Council for Social Impact Program and Edmund Rice Camp initiatives for young people in Tasmania! Proud moment, excited for the next step! Warm regards, Brendan Webb Program Officer

06.01.2022 A big morning yesterday, with Rice leaders past present and future. Teaming up with the Point To Pinnacle crew, current Ricers, Maddy S, Hailey S and Rosa joined Rice veteran Josie Young and young Virgilian Mandela Young and St Als Scottie B to bag over 4000 sacks of jelly babies to supply the needed sugar hit to the P2P runners at the up and coming event. A multitude of 10.6 kg boxes of lollies were converted to biodegrable bags instead of single use plastic. Big win for both the profile of ERC and the environment. Next year, we will be putting in a Rice team so start training now. Also....for those wanting a study break....Next Friday 7 November we need a group of about 6 Ricers to run games at the Blackmans Bay Primary Twilight Fair. Stay posted.

01.01.2022 Wow. New ground for Eddie Rice Tas as we venture rurally to engage kids from all over the Valley in a gala footie day. In joint partnership with AFL Tasmania, H...uon Valley Council, PCYC and Kingborough Tigers we are very proud to be associated with Footy For The Kids on Monday December 4, 2017. Through such big community events, kids will get a chance to play some Rice games and meet Rice leaders on the day and get their first taste of the fun that can be had on Rice camps. Great profile raiser with around 200 kids expected on the day. For those leaders who have finished their exams and want to unleash some energy, drop us a line and we will take you down for the day to have a kick, do some games and enjoy what promises to be a fun and sporty day out. Thanks to our sponsors The GrassRoots Sporting Club for our second year of sponsorship. Rice Life See more
