20.01.2022 There is a great opportunity to be an active citizen coming up in the next few days. Wagga Wagga City Council is proposing a "net zero emissions strategy" at the next Council meeting on Monday the 12th of April. For members of the public, there is an opportunity to talk to the proposal. An application form can be found here: https://wagga.nsw.gov.au//council-meet/address-the-council and the meeting agenda, with details of the proposal, can be found here:... https://meetings.wagga.nsw.gov.au/ Good luck :)

20.01.2022 One of the highlights of our year has been working with Carevan. A Transgrid grant funded the establishment of a community garden at the new Carevan warehouse and kitchen site. This allowed Eltan to be released to work on the project and put the garden in place. The new wicking garden beds have been planted with herbs and seasonal vegetables and will be harvested for use in the meals prepared by Carevan, which are then distributed to the disadvantaged in our local community. Carevan has continued to prepare and deliver meals throughout 2020 while Covid19 has challenged and marginalised even more of our Wagga community. ErinEarth and Carevan look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership. Check out the link below for a short video outline of our project.

18.01.2022 If you liked ABC's "Fight for Planet A", here is a website that gives you easy video step by step guides on how to reduce the environmental footprint of your home and save money at the same time. Enjoy :) https://www.greenityourself.com.au/

18.01.2022 Instructions on how to make your very own vertical garden.

18.01.2022 Sauerkraut is easy to make... just don’t use your favourite ladle Eltan shows us how.

17.01.2022 Attention teachers and friends of teachers: Minutes and recording from the Term 1 2021 Riverina Enviro Educators Meeting (a meeting where we publicise the enviro education opportunities open to teachers in our region) are now available on our YouTube channel - https://youtu.be/7b_AvGcS9Vk Please share widely :)

16.01.2022 Detritivores are small animals that turn dead plants and animals into fertile soil. They might not be the most attractive critters, but they are essential to life on Earth.

15.01.2022 Oh my gosh! Turn up the sound, listen... can your hear it mimic a horse? Comment on what you heard! Wowsers. Our manager, Kaz, filmed this last week in Wagga! Magpies, you hate ‘em, then they go and do something like this, then you love them

15.01.2022 Nardoo is a life saver... just make sure you know how to prepare it. Our garden is open to the public 9am-3pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Hope you can come and have a look :)

14.01.2022 The Climate Change Bill is now in the public inquiry phase. We encourage you to make your voice heard and make a submission. This is a great way to think global, but act local, within our sphere of influence. As the Royal Commission into last summers bushfires stated, climate change increases the risk and impact of natural disasters. This global problem has already had an impact on our local community here through bushfire, let's do something about it. If passed, the Climate ...Act is a proposed law to ensure the long-term safety, security and prosperity of Australia by achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. Please make a submission telling the committee and the Government why you, your business, club, organisation or community group want to see the Climate Change Act passed. The more submissions they receive, the less climate can be ignored. https://climateactnow.com.au/

14.01.2022 What beautiful photos from Elk Avenue and Visit Wagga Wagga! As an official tourism partner, Visit Wagga Wagga approached us to get some photos for the coming year. We couldn't be happier with the result. Big thanks to the photographer Jas from Elk Avenue, Kim from Visit Wagga and the Maher family for helping us get some great photos. The ErinEarth Garden will be open to the public 9am-3pm each Tuesday and Wednesday beginning next Wed Jan 27th. Come and get some ideas for low maintenance and low water usage plants for your garden :)

13.01.2022 We are looking for a swarm of bees to house our brand new hive at The Erin Earth Garden. They will boost productivity of The Erin Earth Garden and support biodiversity (the diversity of different plants and animals) in our local area. If you have wild swarm in your backyard, give Glen a call on 0413 277 856. He will come and get them on our behalf. Swarms in bird boxes or hanging off trees are the best ones to get. Safety precautions have been identified and followed in regards to safety at both the Erin Earth Garden and neighbouring areas. Thanks in anticipation :) P.S. How good is the sound in this clip? Not bad if I do say so myself ;)

13.01.2022 We are looking for a swarm of bees. Can you help us find one? They will boost productivity of The Erin Earth Garden and support biodiversity (the diversity of different plants and animals) in our local area. If you have wild swarm in your backyard, give Glen a call on 0413 277 856. He will come and get them on our behalf. Swarms in bird boxes or hanging off trees are the best ones to get. 12.01.2022 By checking the side of your reverse cycle air conditioner, you can check if your solar panels are covering the energy being used by it. Solar panels are a great way to be environmentally friendly, as you are creating less demand for burning coal, which is one of the main drivers of climate change.

11.01.2022 Check out what all of our hard work has rewarded us with

10.01.2022 We are looking for a wild swarm of bees. Where could they bee? Up a tree? Behind your knee? Above the sea, maybee? The Erin Earth Garden is soon to become home to a wild swarm of bees, only problem is, we don't know where they are yet. Those bees can't wait to get all of the nectar and pollen from our lovely garden, but we just haven't 'bee'n introduced. If you have wild swarm in your backyard, give Glen a call on 0413 277 856. He will come and get them on our behalf. Swarms in bird boxes or hanging off tress are the best ones to get. Thanks in anticipation :)

10.01.2022 Send an email to [email protected] to get a copy of our newsletter. We look forward to sharing with you :)

08.01.2022 If you want to use the power of solar energy but are renting, have a shaded roof or can't make it happen for any other reason, check out this awesome community project! Haystacks Solar Garden is like a community veggie garden, but instead of harvesting food, you harvest electricity. The panels are set up out at Grong Grong, but anyone can "rent" them, allowing you to get a credit on your own elec bill. Only five days left to get a membership. Click on the post below for more info

08.01.2022 Charles Sturt University is the first certified Carbon neutral university in Australia. This means they are pulling more greenhouse gases out of the air than they are adding to it. This is a very, very good thing. High levels of greenhouse gases are currently responsible for the risks we face from climate change. Charles Sturt University gets five gold stars from us for their proactive stance, which will benefit not only our local area, but the entire planet.

08.01.2022 The Sydney Dance Company recently released this video of two dancers at the Wetlands and Wagga beach. It's so amazing to see these two locations star in such a well produced, artistic video. Not to mention the dancers themselves! We would love to see comments below with your thoughts on the dancers and how they interacted with these particular locations :)

06.01.2022 Commenting on the NSW Clean Air Strategy is an easy way to do something great for our environment and good for the people that live in it. The closing date is the 23rd of April, so take a look soon :) https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au//draft-nsw-clean-air-st

06.01.2022 Wattle Day! Need I say more?

04.01.2022 Charles is a pretty innovative guy. It's cool to see his ideas being reflected in the landscape in and around his property, benefiting all life in the surrounding area. Isn't it great to see a good news story amongst all of the COVID related bad news? Hope you enjoy this episode of Australian Story, tonight at 8pm. The Erin Earth Garden is open to the public Tuesday and Wednesday this week. A great opportunity for young kids on school holidays to come and play on our nature playground and explore our larger than life garden. Don't forget we have our Family Fun Day on Sat 31 Oct as well :)

02.01.2022 Give these chocolate lillies a go in your garden, it’s no replacement for ice cream, but it’s the next best thing . Don’t forget we are open to the public 9-4 on Wednesdays during school term.

02.01.2022 Hello little American honey bee. Who are you going to vote for... just kidding. This is a short clip of a bee eating some nectar from the hand of a friend of mine, who lives in Maine, USA. It's cool that even on, almost the exact other side of the planet, nature still does the same things. We are also looking for a swarm of bees to house our brand new hive at The Erin Earth Garden. They will boost productivity of The Erin Earth Garden and support biodiversity (the diversity ...of different plants and animals) in our local area. If you have wild swarm in your backyard, give Glen a call on 0413 277 856. He will come and get them on our behalf. Swarms in bird boxes or hanging off trees are the best ones to get.
