24.01.2022 #Repost @caseythommo Surrounded by a blooming forest encompassing an entire valley full of moss covered rocks and secret pathways to hidden ravines, lay a cabin in the middle of the woods. A million branches and leaves accumulate around the fire pit made from stone, the outdoor shower made from copper and the tiny cabin that for the next few days we’ll call home. The cabin is made from timber inbuilt with endless windows with a wooden ladder that leads to nowhere. The bed la...y elevated upon a wooden slab surrounded by windows overlooking the humble and serene forest where not another soul in the vicinity could be heard. We are alone with no one other than ourselves, the picturesque outlook of the countryside, the sounds of the birds squeaking and their wings flapping through the tree branches and of course, the words of wisdom that lay in our books. To the right of our cabin we discover a man-made path that leads steeply down through a dozen large boulders and trees as high as the sky. We've uncovered a secluded ravine that felt as if it had been untouched for centuries. Running water rushed through the streams between the rocks, so clear and fluorescent in the blue sky that moments before was filled with ominous darkened clouds. Filled on both sides of the gravel country road to town are cows of all sizes and colours with horses and ponies so majestic and calming. Farmhouses and white wooden cottages are planted amongst the vast green mountainous plains that are spread so vastly across the rugged countryside. Although spending a lot of my childhood on the farm where my grandparents and father were born, these few days in what seemed like the middle of nowhere brought me back to my roots. The fresh air not compromised by the toxicity of the big city or the overpowering noise of buses and trains truly allowed for a quiet mind; to dilute the past and the stress of the future, we were able to completely embrace the present moment, both within ourselves, and one another. @escapepods
