23.01.2022 From the Clothes Line.... From a day at work to dinner or a show Now that we are able to socialise more easily following the easing of restrictions, there may be more opportunities to catch up with friends & colleagues or go to a show after a work day.... Make the transition from work wear to a wardrobe you would prefer to wear to dinner by adding and mixing a few pieces. A pair of wide leg pants, a few accessories and a change of shoes can make the difference. In the examples below I've worked around a print top which was in the basic wardrobe pieces. Add the wide leg pants, a small clutch bag and changed up the jewellery. Choose you heels.... a sling back or perhaps ballet flats. If it's a bit chilly, include the coat from the basic wardrobe or add a wrap. Voila! You're ready to go! Enjoy the freedom to dine out again.

21.01.2022 From the Clothes Line... Build a working wardrobe We all have different work environments. It maybe working from a casual home office, a frontline service environment or a corporate structure. A practical , easy to put together wardrobe makes heading out each day a little easier.... So far we've brought together a wardrobe that is versatile with each piece able to be switched and matched with many others. Let’s focus on building a working wardrobe utilising some of the existing garments and adding a few Winter warmer pieces. For those of us who feel the cool weather (Even in Queensland!) a medium weight coat is definately a good investment. Choose a colour that will work with as many garments in your wardrobe as possible to maximise it's use. Look for a style that you love as generally a coat is a long term purchase, so make sure it works for you. Maybe it's a short, hip length double breasted style with interesting buttons or perhaps it's a calf length, trench style coat. There are lots of choices. Add a polo or light weight wool jumper for the cooler days, throw in an additional pair of trousers and we're almost there. Don't be afraid to mix prints & patterns together in similar colour tones for some interesting tops or a skivy. A stripe can look stunning with a floral. Experiment, and see what great combinations you come up with. Stay warm and enjoy making the most of your working wardrobe.

17.01.2022 From the Clothes Line.... Add some warmth to the wardrobe! Brrrrr the cooler weather has landed. Perhaps add a few woolly skivvies to the wardrobe to keep you warm. Keep an eye out for skivvies in similar colours to your existing tops and TShirts to make the most of your chosen colour palette. Makes mixing and match across seasons so easy.... Keep warm and embrace the cooler days!

11.01.2022 From the Clothes Line.... Take a TShirt, well actually lets take two TShirts! Have you ever seen a garment and thought, I like it, but if it only had....... it would be just what I wanted? That's exactly what occurred to me recently when I saw a TShirt and thought it was a bit plain and how nice it would look if the sleeves were a little more interesting. A little more like a "dressy" TShirt.... Well, let the renovation begin! Buy two TShirts and use one for "Spare Parts". That's exactly what happened for this TShirt, the long sleeves were cut off to short sleeves. The additional TShirt was used to create the ruffle added to the end of each sleeve and Voila! A new smashing garment for a small cost and little time at the sewing machine. Sometimes, just adding some trims to an old favourite garment, new buttons or adding a ruffle here or bling there makes a sensational difference. Keep the mind open when looking at garments, as it might be a small alteration or embellishment that makes all the difference between OK and WOW! Essential Dressing is always here to assist with garment renovations to bring your vision into reality.

01.01.2022 From the Clothes Line.... The Power of Three Some time ago I read an article on what garments to pack when travelling. It was based around the magic number Three..... Choosing 3 tops and 3 bottoms that all work and co-ordinate together with the view of packing less!... This is a great foundation to build any wardrobe on not only for travelling. It might sound like a small number of garments but if they all work together and can all be worn with each top or bottom, that gives a wide selection of outfits for any occasion. Team that theory with some brilliant accessories and creating WOW outfits is easy! Certainly food for thought to reduce the clutter in the wardrobe, save a few dollars and make choosing an outfit before rushing out the door that much simpler. Enjoy the fashion experiment...Rember the power of 3.
