05.01.2022 ESSENTIAL WRAP An innovative breakthrough in bandaging We were thrilled to receive this incredible review on the Essential Wrap from the well-respected Mel... Ellery. Recently one of my horses cut his leg just at the bottom of the front of his hock which required the traditional method of bandaging to go up over the hock to the upper leg to keep the dressing in place. I couldn’t work him with a bandage above his hock as it would restrict movement in that leg. I’d heard about Essential Wrap but was dubious as to if it could last on a horses leg at all especially out in the paddock or while being ridden and still heal the wound but gave it a try anyway. I have to say the Essential Wrap is one of the BEST wound dressings I have used!! Super quick and easy to apply and it lasts for days in the paddock (even in the pouring rain). Due to the stretch, adhesive ‘glue’ and lightweight material, the horse is able to be worked without any bi-mechanical restrictions on that leg back and to my surprise, there is already hair growing back over the injury site whilst the leg is still covered up.
