25.01.2022 Did you know that we have eels living on our beaches? If you've never seen them, here's a treat. Learn from Carlos how to make friends and influence eels.
25.01.2022 Did I get a new camera? No, it’s just the one I got back from NPS (Nikon Professional Services) today - and what a beauty. Seven days ago, while out on a little bird-hunting with my long lens, I tripped and fell. At first I thought no damage, the camera had touched the ground only a little. A few steps later I realized something was seriously wrong. You know when you hit your brakes the passengers continue to travel forward? Well, that’s what happened here. The momentum of t...he heavy lens' travel pulled itself right out of the body. Lens fine, body not. Internally I cried as I thought what this would cost to repair. But NPS did such a fantastic job. Not only did they have all necessary parts in stock (shock), they bothered to do a few extra tasks. They replaced my bodgy body cap with one that works. They replaced the flash’s enclosure (it had an overheating bubble from my firing it too fast). And then they cleaned it. Years of ingrained mud that I could never get off are now gone. What a brilliant team! The professional in their name really means something to me because I find that service of that quality is hard to come by these days.
23.01.2022 Nick Carson has published the newest e-book Brisbane Water Estuary. If you want to know what an interactive book is, then this is the best. It’s got it all: videos, audios, music, bird calls, frog calls, heaps of photos, and text that is so easy to read. This is what environmental education is all about. If you are a Central Coast local, you need to download it and learn (and it's free): https://books.apple.com//brisbane-water-estua/id1520345191
08.01.2022 I mentioned the Brisbane Water interactive book below, Aug 6. Every page is fascinating --- but the biggest surprise of all is the page dedicated to the titan barnacle! Why? Because Steve Williamson and I are in the news - we discovered it! (He's the voiceover in the video on that page.) Holy moly. Wait. Should I tell Steve? Will he get a swell head? He’s already been sooooo media-hounded.
03.01.2022 We’re all interested in Photoshop, right? I especially wanted to know more about the latest changes, which incorporate many UI shortcuts. So you can’t blame me for clicking on this thumbnail when it popped up on YouTube. Woah! Talk about blown away. ... I thought this movie had to do with Photoshop? Why is Adobe even creating such a movie? Starring one of my favourite actors ever (Alicia Silverstone), how can they afford her? Or Zach Braff? The sets, location, costumes, animals, the production costs - enormous! Ridley Scott? C’mon. And it’s such a brilliant satire, with a double whammy punch. Not only is it satirising influencers but it (Adobe Creative Cloud) almost seems to be spoofing itself and the very reason behind its products. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agw7j2vnggg Is that the point of this ad? Honestly I don’t get it. Can anyone figure out how this is a tutorial about, or an ad for, Adobe Creative Cloud???
