14.01.2022 $4,200 raised! Yesterday, ETF co-founders Adam and Alexi caught up with marathon walker Byron Bruce-James at Blueys Beach. The group reflected upon balancing the mental and physical aspects of the walk, and using the bigger picture to motivate endurance day after day. Byron reflects upon his solo trek as a ‘true test of willpower’ and views the experience as a way to understand more about himself, as well as help disadvantaged children in Timor-Leste. Byron is 280km into hi...s 800km journey and has raised 84% of his $5000 fundraising target! Together, we can exceed this fundraising goal and maximise ETF’s impact in Timor-Leste! 07.01.2022 Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. -John Dewy

06.01.2022 One of our core values at ETF is collaboration. We work with local communities every step of the way and love hearing their feedback. In a recent interview with the parents and representatives of the Fahiten community, ETF gained valuable feedback on our preschool construction in Fahiten! Key takeaways from this interview were: Parents used to worry about sending their children to school as they were concerned about the safety of the old school buildings and the potential f...or collapse. As a result of ETF’s new school in Fahiten, parents now feel comfortable sending their children to school knowing that they will be safe. COVID-19 presented challenges to the construction of the school and the build had to be temporarily paused as a result of the pandemic. Construction has now recommenced with all workers wearing masks and practicing proper hygiene. Community members are very grateful for ETF’s support and hope that ETF may be able to support the community to build a playground to incentivise school attendance. This project could not have been constructed without the generosity of the Alice Springs community and Jayden Gilby, a supporter of early childhood education in Timor-Leste. This construction in Fahiten is also supported and funded by the Australian Government under the Friendship Grant Round 1 initiative. In collaboration with The Australian Government, The Timorese Government's Ministry of Education and local Timorese communities, ETF is instigating lasting educational change throughout Timor-Leste. #FriendshipGrant #AustralianAid

02.01.2022 Educating The Future is incredibly proud to announce the completion of our second preschool in Fahisoi, Aileu District, Timor-Leste! After a complex construction due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ETF and the Timorese Ministry of Education can finally hang their hat on another successful preschool construction! This project was supported by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Friendship Grant. Our project in Fahisoi sought to transform an unsafe 8 x... 8m single classroom that struggled to cater to the number of students in the area. Now, the completed school boasts two classrooms and a teachers office, built to the Timorese Government’s preschool design specifications. With ample space and teachers already at the site, the school is ready to deliver life changing education for the youth of Timor-Leste. As volunteers, these are the achievements that remind us why we do our work. For all the donors and supporters, this is what your generosity leads to. From volunteers, to collaborators, to donors and supporters, in Timor-Leste and Australia, this is what we are capable of when we work together! These are the milestones that define our organisation, and we could not be more proud of the end result here in Fahisoi!

02.01.2022 Adam Hegedus, Co-Founder and Managing Director, and Raff Del Vecchio, Chairperson, spoke with Spotlight 90.5FM about Educating The Future’s journey and future plans. Check out the podcast below!
