23.01.2022 And so it begins! We made a start today mothering up the AI lambs. The AI program had a great result this year....lambs everywhere we look! Our stud lambs are double tagged with a shearwell EID tag and number tag. Their tag, DOB, and single or twin status is scanned and recorded against their mothers EID onto the stock palm. This information is uploaded to Stockbook for lifetime traceability in the stud. Twin lambs are notched out of the back of the ear for easy visual ID o...f the fertile lines when assessing stock. The twin rams can be easily overlooked as they are often a bit smaller and dont catch your eye like a big well grown single, but the twins are the profit makers in commercial operations! We have an extensive, unique program behind the rams we breed, that you can take advantage of. Etiwanda rams leave our place highly adapted, ready to work at yours.... Our rams display structural correctness, length, depth and capacity (weight). They are well muscled, well mannered and well adjusted to paddock conditions. Every sale lot will be videoed for our October sale. All our rams are born & raised under rangelands conditions. By running the animals extensively we apply sufficient pressure on the flock to force out the unadapted animals. We havent shorn or hoof trimmed any of our White Dorpers in the last 14 years. Our rams are presented as they are naturally, what you see is what you get. Our sheep are designed to be excellent shedders and are good on their feet and legs. Our rams all come with ASBV data. We use LAMBPLAN to provide practical information on the genetic potential of our animals & monitor our breeding program. You can use our data to select rams that will fit your breeding objectives and improve profit. They are also DNA tested. A ram must be born unassisted to make it into one of our sales. We lamb the ewes extensively. We dont interfere at lambing, so the lambs we tag into the stud have got there unassisted. 15.01.2022 We have been presenting rams unshorn since our very 1st sale in 2006. One of the main things that attracted us to the breed initially was the shedding ability of the sheep, and that is almost impossible to assess in sheep that are presented shorn. Prior to having White Dorpers, the Mosely family ran 10,000 merinos and we battled in big seasons with high mortality from speargrass infestation and flystrike. It was not a path Andrew & I wanted to continue down. We shifted our f...ocus from fibre to meat and so our White Dorper journey began. It is imperative to us that the White Dorpers we breed are environmentally fit and make less work for us, not more! Our sheep are excellent shedders and we now avoid problems with grass seed contamination and use next to zero chemicals. Our rams are 100% grass raised. 100% Rangeland Ready. 13.01.2022 A great day out at the Cobar Multi-Vendor Ram sale today. An excellent roll-up of keen buyers made for a very well supported sale. 100% clearance to average $2101.00 across the White Dorpers, Dorpers and Australian White rams offered. The Etiwanda ram team averaged $2377.00 for our 18, 11 & 12 month old, Rangeland Ready rams. A big thankyou to Dave & Rik Allen from Nullogoola Station, COBAR, for continuing to support our program by purchasing our top priced ram Etiwanda 3340 ...for $2900.00. We had strong, and much appreciated, support from a number of repeat local buyers who have experienced the Rangeland Ready rams in their own operations. Thank you. Our rams are heading to new homes all across NSW and also to Victoria, to new and repeat buyers. Thank you also. Our ewes also had a 100% clearance. The 3 lots sold for $350.00/hd, $300.00/hd and $270.00/hd to average $305.00. The ewes are heading to Talwood, QLD and Lake Cargelligo, NSW. A huge thank-you to all our buyers and underbidders. 13.01.2022 Totally blown away and humbled by the support at our On Property sale today, averaging $3260.00 for 100% clearance (a record for us and an On Property record for White Dorpers we think). 87/87 sold. It was a strong sale from start to finish. Excellent support on Auctionsplus today, with 532 bids from registered A + buyers and 15 lots sold online. Commercial buyers were by far the strongest supporters, and that makes our hearts sing! That's exactly what we set Etiwanda White D...orpers up to do....to provide excellent rams, with ASBV'S, for commercial producers. We also had great support from stud buyers. Our top price ram was Lot 6 sold to Wayne & Karen Dingle of Boondarra White Dorpers, Mungallala QLD for $5200.00. Thankyou to our buyers & underbidders, we really do appreciate your support of our program. Your knowledge, questions on, and use of our ASBV data is quite impressive. 06.01.2022 Just had a ride around the lambing ewes and our donkeys were right there with a group of freshly lambed ewes. Weve been woken up in the night, when the ewes are close to the house, by the racket (and its a really weird noise!) of the donkeys chasing foxes. We dont have wild dogs here.....yet. Its hard to guage just how many lambs they save, but we sleep better knowing they are there. #foxguards

01.01.2022 Sending the sale rams back into the paddock after photos and videos today. These rams are 12 & 13 months old. We are so impressed with how much the rams have grown & developed in the last 4 weeks. We discussed & decided against finishing them off on pellets for our sale. It really goes against what we believe in, and how we want to present our rams. It is a testament to the rams how exceptionally well they have done on native pastures.
