22.01.2022 Div 3 ladies match report. Et:5 H&G 8 Chapter 3: Baseball, the harsh mistress.... The div 3 girls were on the road this week, making the journey down to west lakes to face off against the ladies of Henley and Grange. We were off to a solid start in the first inning, with 3 girls crossing the plate to put us in the lead early. We then bounced out to the field and started our defensive attack on the girls in brown. Kayla was given the pill for the good guys, but unfortunately for the young slinger she ran in to a bit of the ol sore arm early on. We went to the girl who has now had a mound appearance in every game in Ashlee. Ash came in and did what she does best, throw strikes. After a couple of great plays from our infield we managed to send Henley back out with only one on the board. The second inning pursuit was kicked off with one run for the good guys. Bringing the score to 4-1. We had confidence headed back out to the diamond, with the spirits high and the girls ready to do the job. With Henley swinging the sticks our defence was getting a work out. Some truly awesome plays from our shortstop Kayla and fantastic put outs from our rookie first baseman Tam, the damage was minimal with Henley only managing to convert one try this time around. We now make our way in to the dreaded 3rd inning. We were unable to make any movement on the score board this inning, but none the less hopes were high. Ashlee was sent back out for the third time to hopefully return the maroons with as little damage as possible, unfortunately this was not to be. Just as the inning before, Henley's bats were making Thier way through the strike zone. The difference this time was that the ball appeared to have eyes. With a barrage of shots in to the gaps and bleeders over the fielders, 5 runs crossed the plate before we should get a rest. With a job a head of us, but certainly not an impossible task we set to work in the batters box. Ash Ng. Decided she didn't want to hang about and belted a ball through the cones for a double to kick us off. We had a few ladies follow her up with some great at bats but unfortunately we could only push one across. This week's game consisted of two main lessons. 1 being baseball isn't a fair game and it can bring you down especially when you are on top. 2 the importance of converting runners on base to runs on the board. The girls had a great game and there was some truly outstanding performances, but sometimes despite all your best efforts you don't get to walk away with the chocolates. Some special mentions. Kayla, Tam, Vic, "The wall" for some great plays in the field. Ashlee for another fantastic outting on the bump. Vic Mac and "the wall" for some great abs. Well done again girls, we play at home next Friday as do the 2s. Would be great to see as many faces out as possible and make it a big night for the club.

17.01.2022 Ladysox Div 2 Match Report The now usual sou' westerly wind greeted us for Friday night's Div 2W matchup between the Lady Sox (1-1) and Dodgers (0-2) at Patterson Reserve. Kaitlyn took the mound in her first start of the season. There were no nerves in her 19-pitch inning with a pair of Ks and neat groundout by Billie Rose.... Our intentions with the bat were clear with Amber tripling off the first pitch. Hits to Angela, Taneeka, Jess and Kaitlyn plated four. Second time up the Dodgers drew five walks that led to a pair of based loaded scores. A highlight was another great heads up play by Xin, Taneeka and Angela that saw the Dodger leadoff caught in a run down. Our bats continued their hot form with Bella, Amber, Angela, Xin and Taneeka getting hits with another four scores. Up 8-3 after two. Kaitlyn continued into the third inning and got out of some bases loaded jams with a controversial out by Nikki and an unassisted out by Billie Rose. Our third time up continued the hit blitz with Angela, Xin and Liz smacking line drives that with some deteriorating fielding saw us score five. 13 - 4 up. Liz took the ball and got three infield outs on just 24 pitches. Our last turn to score produced another two runs with four batters getting on after an array of fielding errors. With the shadows lengthening we went out for one last defensive inning and Liz picked up another three groundball outs before umpire Payne called time and game. A solid 15 - 9 win with 12 hits and 12 stolen bases that sets us up nicely for next week's home blockbuster against Kensington.

11.01.2022 Unfortunately all Junior Games are cancelled today as the BaseballSA’s heat policy has come into play. All is not lost as it gives the kids a chance to head out to Kensington from 10am to watch our Senior squad take on the Cardinals. Should be a ripper day of quality ball and I’m sure the boys would love some extra support. #gosox
07.01.2022 It is with deep sadness that we advise of the passing of one of our Life Members ‘Robert (Bob) Norsworthy’. Bob passed away peacefully this morning with family by his side. Bob filled many official and unofficial roles around the club. Scoreboard Attendant, Grounds Crew and Bar Manager just to name a few. As such, Bob was awarded Life Membership in the 2004/05 season. In his later years Bob thoroughly enjoyed watching his 2 grandsons play the game we love and was very proud o...f his son Damien in his role as our club President. Please join us in extending our condolences and love to Bob’s wife Lyn and their family in this difficult time. One of the nicest blokes you would ever meet. You will be sorely missed and will always hold a place within our ETBC family. Please say hello and have a drink with our other past members looking down upon us.

03.01.2022 Saturday results Div 4 - lost to Golden Grove 19-7 in the coaches words we were to hitable and got considerably outhit. Div 5 - defeated Golden Grove 17-5. Another solid team performance from these seasoned veterans. ... Div 6 - got the win 13-2 v South’s away. Ralphy started on the mound with Dylz middle relieving and Gus McKinlay closing out for the save. It was hard to get the bats going against some wayward SD pitching but we put up our 13 in 2 digs and due to time constraints played only 4 digs in total. Laws was flawless with the bat going 3/3 and Azza smashed a nice triple. Couple of blokes need to take a good look in the mirror after conceding some KCs. Still undefeated. Div 7 Red Cans - faced un-defeated Souths at their home to come out on top 11 - 9. Both teams hit well. South got lucky with bleaders down first base line but our consistent good hitting and base running got us over the line. Adam threw a great game but reached his limit at the bottom of the 6th. Stef did a great job closing the game out. Coach was releived to come away with a win as his job may have been on the line. Team was pleased to have last year's batting champ Boydy back for his first game of the season. Game was also soured with two groin injuries to John Braithwaite and Razz. Hope you both come good soon. Div 7 Beer League - tried a couple of times to lose Blake’s 300th game but got the choccies. Belly provided twice the number of out opportunities than required, The birthday boy Capt Kirk hit the suitcase off it all day and Dougie took the catch of the millennium at right field that couldn’t possibly be bettered. We persisted all day scoring 3 in the last to get it done. Another joyous day at Turner Reserve and celebrated with gusto post game as only the D7 Beer League can . U17 - went down to the best team in the comp 7-0. Coach Chandler is super proud of his young teams effort. Although some work on signals may be on the cards this week at practice.
