24.01.2022 From all the staff and volunteers at ESA, we are extremely sad to hear of the passing of Di Schaeffer on Saturday, Jan 2nd, 2021. We offers our deepest condol...ences, recognizing Di's tireless contribution to the sport of Equestrian, in particular Eventing and that our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Di, who was 77 years old, leaves a legacy to Equestrian and in particular Eventing SA. Mother of Olympian, Wendy Schaeffer, Chair of the ESA Eventing Committee and an Eventing SA Selector. Di was on the 1986 Australian Team for the Gawler World Championships and also competed at a high level for many years. She co-owned many horses, including Sunburst, who was Wendy’s mount at the Atlanta Olympics and a member of the Gold Medal winning team. Strong and resilient, Di was a woman who would rise up when others found it challenging. Still actively involved with horses, Di attended the recent event at Wallaby Hill in December. Travelling all the way over from SA with Wendy, Di drove most of the way to allow Wendy to sleep and rest before the event. Wendy rode Sun Quest (co-owned by Di) who placed 11th in his second only 3* event. "RIP Di as she rides with the angels" A service to celebrate Di’s life will be held on her property, Sunning Hill, 10.30am Wednesday 13th January 2021.

14.01.2022 CLARIFICATION REGARDING USE OF INDOOR ARENAS We have had a number of queries regarding the use of indoor arenas. ESA recommends that all members follow the inst...ructions of the state government, which unfortunately differs from the national government at times. We have had clarification that the closure of indoor sporting venues was put in place to stop groups of people congregating in close quarters. As such, individual lessons and personal riding in an indoor arena are still acceptable, as long as all other measures are adhered to, i.e keeping a distance of at least 4 square metre per person, washing hands frequently, not sharing equipment, not going out if you are sick, etc. If you are at all in doubt about your personal situation, please contact your insurance provider or SA Health.

11.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW Welcome to ESA's new Did You Know series. Each Friday we will share a "Did you know" about a discipline, a policy or a rule related to our equ...estrian sports. With the competition season now underway for 2020, we thought it timely to share an often forgotten but crucial set of rules from the Disciplinary By-Laws, (19) Strict Liability Offences. Did you know, you could be fined $100 for a first offence and up to $500 for a third offence, for competing in an official EA compeition on an unregistered horse? Please familiarise yourself with these EA mandated Strict Liability Offences and don't get caught out with an unregistered horse. Penalities can and will apply! https://www.equestrian.org.au//Equestrian%20Australia%20Di

05.01.2022 Guide for Returning to Equestrian Vaulting Under COVID-19 Released by the Equestrian Australia Vaulting Committee (EAVC) This document has been produced by the ...EAVC COVID Working Group following a request from the EAVC to provide guidance to Clubs and members as they return to competition amid COVID-19 considerations. The document is intended to provide basic recommendations to organising committees and clubs throughout Australia and serve as a foundation on which each club or organisation can build a safe and comprehensive COVID-19 Plan. Club training and competitions have been adversely affected by COVID-19 throughout 2020, and while some clubs have continued active training, others have scaled back on training throughout the year. Most competitions and clinics have been cancelled as the equestrian vaulting community adjusted to sport under COVID-19. In order to hold events where vaulters from separate regions and communities congregate together, there are both national and state regulations which apply. There are also different ways in which each state and each club has organised their training and events through this year. The information contained in this document MUST be assessed in line with ongoing changes throughout the health and sporting bodies on both a national and state level. It is not appropriate to rely on this document as a comprehensive statement on conducting equestrian vaulting events in 2020 and 2021...view the guide: https://www.equestrian.org.au//guide-returning-equestrian- Vaulting NSW Vaulting Queensland Equestrian South Australia - Vaulting Vaulting Western Australia Vaulting Victoria Equestrian Tasmania Equestrian Northern Territory #fortheloveofthehorse #vaulting #COVID19 #returntosport #equestrian
