21.01.2022 Anna with her very FIRST chin up! In the moment we celebrate the accomplishment but behind this one chin up, we celebrate the countless hours of committed practice that enabled it. Proud Coach moment ... Well done Anna. #staystrong #chinup #goals
20.01.2022 This deserves some love. Embrace the grind! Simone's first time doing chin ups (this was actually rep 4) Simone originally came to ETR to regain her strength after years of sedentary working. In her younger years she loved being active with Netball and racing BMX. After attending one of our workshops Simone realised how far back she had gone, from those younger years, after years in a desk job. ... Great work Simone, looking forward to seeing more. #chinup #leederville #staystrong
20.01.2022 One of the best staple exercises for shoulder stability is the Arm Bar... great insights from Coach Jason @bells_n_all. A great mobility drill for tight or stiff shoulders is the KB arm bar. It’s sets the shoulder girdle back and helps create some space for Glenohumeral joint to function better. One think to keep in mind when doing this drill;... - firstly, it’s not a pec stretch, although it will open up the chest and T-spine - the bell needs to stay near vertical- don’t let the bell fall behind you to open up the chest. - secondly, don’t go heavy it’s unnecessary to add load for mobility work. There’s different stages of difficulty and you should only go to the level on which you can keep a packed shoulder and stay in control of the bell. I would recommend getting an experienced coach to teach you this drill so you know what it should feel like it - then it’s a drill for life. #armbar #kettlebell #shoulderstability

20.01.2022 Strength comes in many forms and this new PB moment surprised Jezza after not deadlifting for 4 months! Focus on building a strong foundation and everything else gets easier (stronger). Train smarter first... then harder.
19.01.2022 Coach Jason caught up with Dr Matt from Wild Chiropractic to discuss how your performance, strength and health deteriorate when your stress bucket overflows. Key take aways: 1. A stressed heart rhythm that has diminished variability has less adaptability and is a ticking time bomb. 2. Taking on any exercise regime should always aim to restore a fundamental baseline of HEALTH first before performance.... This is why we focus on removing stress, restoring health and then adding layers of strength/performance on top! Many thanks Matt. Stay strong everyone!
19.01.2022 Just passed 56000 swings...last years total!! Going all in for the last hour. DJ @KATHARSIS bringing us home.... Telethon7 Perth #swingathon2020 #telethon2020 #leederville #nosleep
19.01.2022 6am crew working on their swings. We love swings at ETR. They work to build stronger glutes and back, better coordination, more power in the hinge and cognitively theres a lot going on when learning. Building a more powerful swing has positive flow on affects to every other fundamental movement.... #swing #westperth #leederville

17.01.2022 This legend still going strong at 53, pulling 180kg easily. Tims goal is to pull over 200kg which will take him another 4-6 months to get. Testing your absolute strength is key to knowing where to start any dedicated strength program when you have a specific goal. Great work Tim. Looking forward to whats to come!... #deadlift #leederville #westperth
17.01.2022 Combining some old school with new school. . The back squat and the German hang. The back squat is a staple in strength training. Practicing how to descend with gravity then pushing back up against it = skills of life. . The German hang is a new skill for me since dislocating the shoulder and since being a kid I’ve never explored my strength upside down and around and around. It’s different, it’s challenging, it’s scary if you’re not paying attention.... . Every set felt stronger. #upanddown #aroundandaround #squat #gymnastics #bodyweighttraining
17.01.2022 The importance of play by Coach Jason @bells_n_all . We usually use gym based exercises to improve our athletic performance but keep in mind it works the other way too. . Especially for adults that stop playing competitive sport, we start to get lazy. Even active people will choose activities they are familiar with as opposed to trying new things or throwing in a random activity just for fun.... . Through childhood we were running, jumping, climbing, kicking a ball, throwing a ball. These activities encourage un-inhibited free movement and whether its good or bad (who gives a shit really) were not all going to be elite athletes. Ball sports in particular get all systems needed for exercise going. . The brain gets good stimulation as it trys to direct the hand-eye coordination mechanisms. The feet have to get involved; all of a sudden the body is coordinating multiple movement patterns so the nervous system is fired up, your heart rate is elevated, body temperatures up and.... after a few minutes of a game - youre probably having some fun. . Whats not like about implementing some basic games into your training? Now to make a friend I can hit the ball to. Keep fresh, keep learning, stay motivated see better results. #leederville #westperth #play
16.01.2022 Swingathon for Telethon7 Perth training 5 weeks out. Hope you guys are ready!
16.01.2022 Pain gets a bad wrap but its one of the most powerful mechanisms that our body has adapted to guide our behaviours to ensure that we survive and thrive. Its an amazing teacher. Listen to it, learn from it and you will receive all the information needed to guide you towards optimal health. Ignore it, cover it up or fear it and you will only make the pain worse until it can no longer be ignored.... Reframe pain as a signal used to protect you and you change the way you approach solutions to resolving issues. Physical pain is often an indication of a movement problem and whether the pain is getting worse or better is your feedback to confirm whether what you are doing is improving the issue or making it worse. Mental pain is often an indication of disconnection. Cover it up with pills and you eliminate the indicator that is trying to guide you back to health. Being disconnected from a tribe that provides support for survival was a really dangerous thing ancestrally. Anxiety or depression was the signal that led you to reconnect. Its there for a reason, its important. Lets reconnect with that signal and view it as protection instead of disease. All pain is protective. We just need to be better at listening and learning from it. Great post by the @thefootcollective. Could not have worded it better. #survival #westperth #leederville
16.01.2022 First workshop post lockdown. Delivering the fundamentals of what it means to have a strong core. We find many people arent aware of how their core (shoulder to hip) should be working while they are moving or lifting. Majority of Australian adults have experienced some form of back pain. If it sticks around for a long time, every day tasks become debilitating and loss of confidence, happiness and ability (call it life) follows soon after. ... We teamed up with Wild Chiropractic to deliver this Mindful Movement workshop as the first of a series to teach people how to restore movement, move confidently and regain their strength. Pumped for the next one! Move well > stay strong #leederville #westperth #subiaco
14.01.2022 60 and going strong! Vicki started training with ETR due to getting old, you know the story... a few creeks, niggles and stiff all over. (We dont accept this as an excuse for all that as we find a lot of younger people usually have more aches and pains these days). In her younger years used to play sport at a high level and was a great athlete. Fast forward a few years after kids and working hard, the body had been neglected a little, hip, knee and back pain... to now, ...hip ache almost not noticeable, back pain gone, knee pain gone... its taken almost 12 months to get to this point... and thats the journey we all need to appreciate. It just takes time. And time is all we have. Solid 48kg Deadlift Vicki!

11.01.2022 Strength is a transferable skill. When you teach the whole system how to become more efficient at transferring force, it does something magical, it uses the new found efficiency in to do everything better and easier = stronger = happy. Well done to Jezz for pulling up this 140kg after his previous best was only 115kg. Thats without training his deadlift in months.... #staystrong #strengthtraining #leederville
07.01.2022 Lunch crew getting back into the swing of things. Feels so good being able to provide the space for these legends again. Looking forward to more post COVID positive changes in the way we look at health and fitness.
06.01.2022 4 hours to go! Coming up to 50000 swings! Won’t make the 100000 but will crush last years total.... #swingathon2020 #telethon2020
06.01.2022 Hey legends, need your help please. A couple of weeks ago I asked a question about shoulder rehab for an online course that Im designing. After the awesome feedback I received, I've now moved to the next stage of my course design and would absolutely love it if you might be kind enough to fill in this really quick survey for me to help me determine what content I should keep and what I should leave out of my course?... You can remain anonymous or if you'd like to be one of the first to be notified once my online course is live, leave me your email at the end and I'll make sure to send it through. https://forms.gle/6UQhFNR9VMGFVjmU6

05.01.2022 These legends practicing the 1%ers that make a strong squat. It might look simple but there are 3 key points to building strength with the squat. 1Feet grounded. Keep the tripod of your foot flat on the ground with equal weight on each point. The toes coming up, feet rolling in or out are issues with balance. If youre not balanced, you cant express strength. 2Knees out. Create torque through the hip capsule and get the glutes fired up.... 3Push backwards. As the bell wants to pull your forward, the counter active thought should be to push backwards as you come out of the bottom. Got ankle, hip or knee issues with your squat? Send us a DM and we will help you out.
04.01.2022 Keeping you safe and healthy post COVID! We recognise quite a few people are still concerned about the risk of infection and/or overall cleanliness going around so we wanted you to know weve always got your health as our number 1 priority! Stay safe ... Stay clean Stay strong See more
04.01.2022 Amazing afternoon throwing and celebrating a crazy year with the crew. Many thanks to all who were able to come along. I think a few people found their calling.
03.01.2022 Playing around with throwing mechanics. Working on creating flow (coordination) and elastic tension through the movement. In this movement slow is smooth and smooth is powerful. You can see my left wants to go faster to skip through the movement instead of trusting the elastic tension to do the work.... From this perspective left is working harder ie less efficiently, than the right. Last step to restore full shoulder function after trauma or dysfunction is building flow and efficiency back into the movement. Basically teaching your brain to trust the movement again. Anyone who has dislocated their shoulder will know what Im talking about. #throwing #indianclub #shoulder
01.01.2022 Just as exciting as the first time we opened... awesome to feel this all over again! Finishing touches before we open again tomorrow.
