04.01.2022 Haven't been on here for a while . So last year I began the keto diet as part of my preparation for the Death Race 2018. Before I went I had said that I would go back to my old eating habits post race. This never happened I felt in good health, energy levels were consistent, gave me no reason to go back. Over the last 6 months I had heard a lot of positive feed back on intermittent fasting. Some of my friends and gym members have been doing this. So last week I gave it a go.... I had tried many times before but never made it past 2pm. Usual excuses I like my food too much, need my energy etc etc. Tuesday 9pm was my last meal. Wednesday saw me with coffee for breakfast. Training at 5.30am started my day. The morning was busy with clients then I was putting down a concrete slab for a 3000l water tank, then back to the gym for clients in the arvo that night I finished at 8.15. I had drunk plenty of water I felt hungry but not starving. I would normally eat round 9pm. No food however meant earlier in the shower and off to bed for 10pm. This is where it got harder I tossed and turned for the next 3.5 hours last time I seen was 1.30am. Alarm went off at 4.30 and I dragged myself out of bed for my first client at 5.30am. Thursdsy was another busy day thank God. Midday I left to strip the shuttering round the concrete plinth. Getting home I though I might get a nap. Not yet I had forgotten a client at 4pm rushing back to the gym I started my afternoon sessions. That night I trained at 7.30pm a crossfit based workout 60mins. The workout was typically hard but my performance was much the same as any othet Thursday. That night I got home and had the best sleep I've ever had. Friday saw me wake up to lack of hunger full energy and feeling that I hadn't felt in a long time I felt alive. I had clients on that morning so busy, busy but I was on fire. Trained heavy deadlifts and strict press setting a PB on stricts. Trained ZUU that evening with bounds of energy. The 3 day fast was a success. I had dropped weight 3kgs. I felt better than I had done before it started. wlWould I do it again? Hell yeah. Tips 1 keep busy 2 drink loads of water 3 take salt/ electrolytes Thoughts on my experience on day 1 was fine bit of a challenge. Day 2 found that we spend a lot of time thinking about food not because I was hungry but bored had money in my pocket was making little plans of what to eat ( day to day typical behaviour ) Also my brain wasnt as sharp probanly due to lack of sleep. Day 3 absolutely loved the feeling of coming out of the darkness with all the energy and clear thinking. See more
