18.01.2022 Greetings supporters of live music. It’s been months of hibernation for so many of us, but now that live music is back on the cards, it’s time to touch base again. We don’t have any events lined up for Eudlo yet, but FYI here is some news from the Glasshouse Musos. WHAT OPEN MIC EVENTS ARE COMING UP FOR THE GLASSHOUSE MUSOS? Beerwah Hotel is hoping to restart our monthly Open Mic as soon as they can. July is a possibility on the second Tuesday so fingers crossed! The Drift ba...Continue reading

16.01.2022 Glasshouse Musos Songwriters Competition Final, September 2020. Thank you to all who joined us for our Songwriters Competition Final at Eudlo Hall on Sunday September 20. We did have a good turn up with over 40 people in attendance so a special acknowledgement to those who came along to hear the performances and new songs from the 9 acts represented. The musicians who appeared were the Dream Weavers (Trent and Mark), Stu McGovern, Ninindi, John Ross, Jacinta Foale and Jenny F...itzgibbon, Deni Chapple, Craig Mercer, Tony Mitchell and Pat Craigie. Thank you also to our 3 songwriting judges Noel Gardner, Alex Bridge and Ian Williams; to the guest artists who accompanied some of the songwriters - Mac, Jake, Ian Juliette and Beans; and thank as well all those who assisted us with the event on the day. As always a fantastic effort from Stephanie Tonkin pulling it all together with refreshments and making sure Covid requirements were set in place. Her team included Rebecca Finneran and from the Eudlo Hall Association there were Peter, Majella, Nicola and Gordon, Annabel, Mark and Jane. There were two main prizes to be awarded - a judges prize and an audience prize. It turned out - not surprisingly, to be a tight result, with Ninindi winning the judges prize closely followed by Pat Craigie, Jacinta and Jenny, and Deni Chapple. The runners up received a CD recorded at the Sound Space, and the winner will have 4 hours recording time in the studio. The audience prize was won by John Ross who will have 3 hours recording time in the Sound Space. We heard from some of the artists that writing their songs and working to the performance deadline with a specific theme was a rewarding experience. It was a shared community experience too and that is always a good thing. We’ll be interested to see if any further feedback comes from participants and audience members, and other songwriters who may not have taken part this time, but who have a view they’d like to share. Certainly with enough positive feedback we might continue the event and perhaps make it annual. All the best, Michael See more

15.01.2022 For Eudlo Music Nights (EMN) followers, the video clip of our October 2019 festival can be found at https://youtu.be/pbsNo8ZfhI4 Short of an original song to go with the clip Michael Whiticker wrote a new one for it - Our Hearts Open Wide, and invited Deni Chapple to sing some harmonies with him. Please have a look and a listen and feel free to comment! Thank you to all the EMN participants and especially to Jody Gilchrist for the images and Jordan Edmeades for editing them ...to make up the video! A more extended version of this photographic collection with many more hundreds of images edited by Jody (with a different sound track) can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd-BXqoJz_g&feature=youtu.be If you were at the festival you’ll enjoy these memories. And if not you’re sure to recognise some of the bands, including Cigany Weaver, Cloudstreet, Red Crow, Tin Star, Out of Abingdon, the Dave Orr Band, Emily Maguire, the Dennis Sisters, the Rumbrellas, Gypsy Rumble, Rob Longstaff, Ian B MacLeod, Blackall Blues, Peter Harvey and Brendan the Mindfulness Poet! 14.01.2022 AAAAAAAND.....drumroll.....Here's Reuben Cosgrove, winner of the Eudlo Music Nights Songwriting competition...accompanied by Mira Chorik....Reuben wins a recording session at The Soundspace at Peachester, with the good Doctor, our artistic director Michael Whiticker. Lyrics below: Remember the days we spent pretending we understood How we'd grow up and blow away like Emily always said we would Thinking about the future always made us feel old... So we took our moment and ran like we had nowhere left to go You used to joke About getting out of here while you're still young and pretty Graduate with honors from some college in the city Get some real friends and a real job Get a real life there without me While I'm drowning in the suburbs Watching Friends reruns on TV Wishing that I'd said something When I still had a chance If I could go back to that moment I know what I would ask Could we sleep on a freight train Beneath an endless starry blanket Holding hands, pretending We'll find a way to make it But we grew up and got distant And as I'm slowly sinking You're a lighthouse on the horizon But I'm lost in time again In an office on the 60th floor The window that you're staring out is starting to look like a door And yeah you've thought about it But it's a long way down and the working week don't let you dream Like we did as kids on a dead end street When we promised we'd skip town and never come back 'Cause baby in a world gone mad We learn to love the things that we don't understand Could we sleep on a freight train Beneath an endless starry blanket Holding hands, pretending We'll find a way to make it But we grew up and got distant And as I'm slowly sinking You're a lighthouse on the horizon But I'm lost in time again We were runaways on those Summer days You know I'll never never never forget it I'll keep it locked up safe with the memories I hate And decisions I've always regretted Now it's long gone, yeah we moved on And all we can do is remember All the Summer days we were runaways And we'd never never never surrender And I've always kinda known inside We lost something I'll never find I could get you back But we can never turn back time We could sleep on a freight train Beneath an endless starry blanket Holding hands, pretending We'll find a way to make it But we grew up and got distant And as I'm slowly sinking You're a lighthouse on the horizon But I'm still searching For something I'll never find I'm lost in time again
