The winners for the costumes this year were Harry Potter and Where's Wally.... Special mention to Millie who sent her photo and video from home. 21.01.2022 The senior class have been studying and creating 'Cubism' art with Mr Dempster. Year 6 student Haruki wrote the following: Cubism is one of the biggest art-styles of the 1900’s and still is big in current day. Cubism is a way of showing multiple angles in a singular picture. Two people who started this kind of painting were Pablo Picasso and George Braque. No one expected a young spanish man (Picasso) who had been doing classical painting to create such an abstract form. The... name was given when an art critic was looking at Braque’s work and was telling him that fundamentally, his work was rubbish, and then mentioned that he was a cubist and that all there was in the painting was simple 2D shapes, thus born the name, Cubism. Many of Picasso and Braque's paintings are still universally known and inspire new artists to try cubism to this day. Photos By Mr Evans See more

15.01.2022 The Junior class have been busy little bees in the music room lately. Last week they all showed Mr Evans how to strike a djembe in the middle of the skin to get a low bass tone and on the edge of the skin to get a high tone. They also looked at the different materials that percussion instruments are made of and the different sounds each material makes. Some of the students then had a percussion jam (with Mr Evans leading) while the other students showed off their amazing dancing skills. Was a fun day. Thanks to Mr Evans for these photos!

15.01.2022 On Monday 7th September, the Eureka Gold debating team came up against The Bangalow Green for round three of the premiers debating challenge. The topic was that all students should participate in 30 minutes of exercise per day. The Eureka team were affirmative and made some excellent points about health benefits, making friends and becoming more disciplined. It was a very close debate and our team came away with another victory. Well done Eureka Gold.

09.01.2022 Last Thursday the staff and students all ventured down the hill to the Byron Bay Pool to take part in the first of our three swimming lessons this term. It was a bit cloudy when we left school but the weather was beautiful when we arrived at the pool. First, the swimming instructors had the students do a warm up stretches on the grass and then they all jumped in the water where they were assessed on their swimming ability. Once assigned to their ability group, they then took part in a range of activities that saw them demonstrate and develop their swimming and diving techniques. We can't wait to get back in the water this Today!

07.01.2022 Last week Mr Evans and the junior class celebrated NAIDOC week by researching what the term NAIDOC means (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) and what the colours in the Aboriginal Flag represent. They then paired up with a friend and got a whole heap of coloured paper (red, yellow and black), tore it into small bits and then glued it on a sheet of white A4 paper to make an Aboriginal Flag collage. During this lesson we also had some of our new kindergarten students (from next year) join us to create the flags and it was particularly nice to see some of our current Year 1 students teaming up with the new kindies to guide them through the activity. It ended up being a fun and creative day for all!
