25.01.2022 Vic Liberals vs Labor on social housing. The choice is clear.
24.01.2022 Everyone is equal but some people are more equal than others under a State Labor Government. Why weren’t the Police enforcing social distancing and even making arrests as they have done at protests recently?
24.01.2022 What a great morning at the Belvoir Special School with the opening of their life skills house that had the incredible support of the Rotary Club of Belvoir - W...odonga, Rotary Club of Wodonga Central, Rotary Club of Wodonga West, Rotary Club of Albury Wodonga Sunrise Inc that cobbled together tradies, suppliers and their own fundraising to get the job done. Fantastic to join school captain Austin Tanner as he cut the ribbon. #benambra ##lovewhereyoulive #regionalVicrocks
23.01.2022 Spot the Difference! (Hint: It's not the virus...) Victorians paid a heavy price for Daniel Andrews' incompetence, through a punishing lockdown. Now we're thr...ough the other side, it's his control-freak tendencies and anti-business philosophy we're paying for instead. New South Wales has gold-standard testing, tracing, quarantining and isolation, plus a population with confidence in its Premier. Victoria has Daniel Andrews, a shambolic system, a devastated economy and a Government which has lost the trust of the people.
23.01.2022 From Wednesday there is some good news for regional Victorians but I can’t really express how I feel for family, friends and colleagues living in Melbourne who ...will have to wait. They have been in lockdown for 16 weeks. Jobs have disappeared. Businesses are on the brink. People are increasingly desperate. We’ll enjoy our small freedoms on Wednesday and hope that the Premier either shows the modelling that he says prevented the easing of restrictions in Melbourne or better still lives up to his word and allows people to get on with their life.
22.01.2022 #UPDATE: I’m very proud that this week the Morrison Government passed this legislation. Families dealing with the trauma of stillbirths, infant deaths and prema...ture births will now have access to improved unpaid parental leave entitlements. 21.01.2022 Shepparton has been let down badly by Daniel Andrews and his Labor Government. The current COVID-19 outbreak would never have happened had Victoria been using ...the successful three-ring isolation measures used in NSW and Queensland to prevent the spread of the virus. Both Queensland and NSW have successfully used the measure which immediately isolates contacts of close contacts to an infected person to snuff out new clusters. Victorian authorities admitted on Thursday that had the strategy been in place, the truck driver would have isolated as soon as an employee at his son’s workplace tested positive. This would have been the day before he drove to regional Victoria, sparking outbreaks in Kilmore and Shepparton. 20.01.2022 $195 million. That is how much the botched Hotel Quarantine Program has been found to have cost Victorian taxpayers far greater than what the Andrews Governme...nt budgeted and previously disclosed. But it has been much more than that. Fundamental policy mistakes by the government has cost 800 lives, families have been separated and our way of life was changed significantly. As we rebuild our great state and our economy, we stand ready with a #BacktoWork plan for all Victorians. Check it out at www.michaelobrien.com.au
19.01.2022 It’s our waste, it’s our responsibility. PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo). By modernising our recycling infrastructure, we will stop more than 600,000 tonnes of waste ending up in landfill and create 10,000 jobs. Read more www.liberal.org.au/budget
19.01.2022 Radical animal activist organisation, Aussie Farms, that encourages criminal trespass and created an online interactive map revealing the location of agriculutu...ral enterprises across the country, have renamed themselves, 'Farm Transparency Project'. Aussie Farms had their charity status rightly revoked in November 2019. I've asked the Minister for Agriculture to lobby the Federal Government to ensure that they are not granted charity status under their new name, Farm Transparency Project. Organisations that promote illegal behaviour, intrusion on privacy, invasion of homes, theft of property and campaign to destroy the agriculture industry must not be allowed to take advantage of commonwealth charity tax concessions.

15.01.2022 In National Recycling Week it’s time that Victoria had a Cash for Containers scheme. We’re the only state in Australia without one. The Liberal Nationals just ...want to get this done to clean up our environment, boost recycling and boost jobs. But, the Andrews Labor Government wants to wait 3 more years to 2023, letting more plastic waste damage our environment. We say: why wait?
14.01.2022 We support Scott
14.01.2022 Well done Victoria! The 2nd wave lockdown has hurt our state but Victorians have been resilient. 13.01.2022 Today Moira Shire Mayor Libro Mustica officially opened the Picola Silo Art. Painted by artist Jimmy DVate the artwork features flora and fauna from the local ...area including: Superb Parrot Australasian Bittern Barmah Brumbies Kangaroo and Joey Peregrine Falcon Freckled Duck Emu Eastern Great Egret Riverine Red Gums and Yellow Box Trees Moira Grass Native Broughton pea and Bulbine Lillies. It also acknowledges the indigenous history with the largest tree being a scar tree. And it also features a hook (like the old Jeff Hook cartoons) in recognition that in the early days of rail Picola was known as the hook because it was the end of the line. Congratulations to the Picola and District Improvement Group for their vision and hard work that saw this project completed.
12.01.2022 So many businesses reopening today simply wouldn't be there without the support from the Morrison Government. PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo) and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg have backed Victorians every step of the way. And our 2020/21 Budget backs Victorians in for the economic recovery ahead.
12.01.2022 Good to see Andrews Labor Minister Lily D’Ambrosio supporting calls for trains to be built in Australia. The Andrews Labor Govt Is having our trains built in Ch...ina by a blacklisted #BeltAndRoad firm. So will Lily resign from the Vic Labor Government in protest? Or is she just another Vic Labor hypocrite?
11.01.2022 Here is my Op-ed in today's Herald Sun. The mental health impacts are real and that is the other human toll out of this crisis. Every Victorian wants nothing mo...re than for the management of COVID-19 in Victoria to be under control. After months of lockdown, the uncertainty for too many remains, and it is taking its toll. 08.01.2022 Victorian homes will be prone to more blackouts and families will face higher power prices following the announcement by Energy Australia that it will close its... Yallourn Power Station in the Latrobe Valley four years earlier than planned. The power station is the largest in Victoria and produces about a quarter of the state’s electricity. The Andrews Labor Government has underinvested in vital transmission infrastructure, meaning the renewable energy generated cannot reach Melbourne where it is needed. This lack of investment by Labor will lead to blackouts and higher prices. The Liberal fully support a transition to renewables but in a planned process that will not increase the risk of homes facing blackouts and the cost to every Victorian paying more for their power. Labor’s lack of energy policy will leave Victorians in the dark.
07.01.2022 The Liberal Nationals again call on Daniel Andrews and Attorney-General, Jill Hennessy to either defer debate on the flawed Justice Legislation Amendment Bill u...ntil it properly consults with victims, their families and advocates, or agree to amendments that preserve the legal status quo regarding deceased victims. The Bill will insert for the first time an express legal requirement for the families of deceased sexual assault victims to obtain a court’s permission to speak about their deceased loved one. If they don’t, they could face criminal prosecution. Despite the trauma this proposal is causing, and the opposition from the community and victims of crime, the Andrews Labor Government intends to ram the Bill through the Parliament next week and has listed it as its top priority, when Parliament sits again next Tuesday. When it was debated in the Legislative Assembly I spoke out against these changes and implored government MPs to privately lobby to have the Bill pulled until it could be fixed. Since the Bill passed the Legislative Assembly, Tasmanian of the Year, Ms Grace Tame has spoken publicly, calling the Bill disgusting, unbelievable and yet another example of how our society enables predators by silencing the victims, including in this case grieving relatives. Ms Tame joins Ms Edith McKeon (the mother of Jill Meagher), Mr John Herron, Ms Chrissie Foster and other families who have already suffered too much, in opposing this aspect of the Bill. #LetUsSpeak See more
07.01.2022 Today the Liberal Nationals will move a No Confidence motion in the Labor Government. This is not a simple decision in the life of each parliamentary term o...f four years there can be only one No Confidence motion. Once defeated it cannot be revisited. That it has come to this shows the despair, frustration and anger over this second wave of COVID-19. Despair for regional communities that have been largely untouched by the virus. Frustration at the failure of the hotel quarantine system that seeded the second wave with third-world contact tracing on whiteboards and butcher’s paper. Anger over the collective loss of memory related to who made that decision, followed by back flips and sudden changes to testimony. Two have gone the Health Minister and the State’s top bureaucrat & Premier’s right-hand man more should follow. Even their own people are turning on the Premier. People ask me who could have done it better? I say every other Premier in the nation. We are the only State that had to go into such a severe and lengthy lockdown. Our businesses, jobs, mums & dads, school children have all suffered while 5km across the river there is a COVID-normal life. In Melbourne the restrictions are largely still in place and even more severe. Today, every single Labor MP has a choice to make. Will they choose to vote to protect Daniel Andrews, or will they choose to vote no confidence in him and give Victorians the fresh start that we so desperately need? Over 790 Victorians have lost their lives, millions of Victorians have been locked up and thousands of business have closed because of Daniel Andrews’ second wave. We have a Premier who has abused the trust of Victorians, we have a Premier who despite promised to the contrary takes no responsibility for the second wave and we have a Premier who's given us a roadmap to nowhere. #springst #benambra
06.01.2022 TALK TO THE OPPOSITION LEADER
06.01.2022 Amazing how Labor can recall how many press conferences they’ve held but can’t recall who made important decisions that caused the 2nd wave and killed 800 people - Shame on you Daniel Andrews.
06.01.2022 This afternoon the Victorian Parliament had a vote on whether to support Victoria’s agricultural industries against the Chinese Communist Government trade block...ades on our exports. Disgracefully, Labor (and others) voted against Victorian farmers, choosing to side with the Chinese Communist Government. The Liberal Nationals have said before, Labor’s Belt and Road deal is all one-way traffic and they will not stand by while Daniel Andrews puts party and ego before Victoria’s interests. That is why a Michael O’Brien-led Liberal Nationals Government will end Labor’s Belt and Road deal with China. Read more: https://www.michaelobrien.com.au/liberal-nationals-to-with/

02.01.2022 Our plan to get Victoria #BackToWork calls for significant support for families to secure their finances following a year of reduced or part-wages, job layoffs,... unexpected costs and significant financial uncertainty. Our plan demands the State Government commit to no new or increased taxes, freezes on household bills such as water and council rates until mid-2022, and new sources of energy to drive down power prices such as our Zero to Landfill plan. By reducing the cost of living, Victorian families will be able to keep more of their hard-earned money, meaning they have more to spend with local businesses and create local jobs. Financially secure families will help get Victoria #BackToWork. Read our full plan at www.michaelobrien.com.au
02.01.2022 The Melba Highway is in dire need of repair and maintenance.
02.01.2022 The Shadow Minister for Education David Hodgett has submitted a letter to the editor of the Shepparton News to clarify any confusion the article printed in the ...News about his visit to Shepparton and the Greater Shepparton Secondary College has created. If you had any concerns about the article I hope his letter (included below) clears them up for you. Dear Editor, I am writing in response to your article dated March 23 where you characterised my visit to the region as being in support of the Great Shepparton Secondary College. This statement is both misleading and untrue. To clarify my position, I am deeply concerned about the GSSC model, not only in terms of how it will work, but how it can best serve the education needs in the region. Numerous problems and issues have been raised by different members of the community and we are yet to see a concrete plan in terms of how these issues are going to be addressed. I understand that we cannot turn back the clock, but the issues of violence, culture and the successful integration of the various school, ethnic and indigenous communities cannot be ignored. The government cannot simply say we want to make this succeed without detailing their plan of how they intend to make the school succeed. I am advocating for rigorous engagement and input from the community and the various stakeholders. I am also deeply concerned about the lack of educational choice in the community. Not all schools suit all students and the absence of choice is a significant issue for the region. I will be visiting again to advance a number of our ideas on ‘Education services for Shepparton’. David Hodgett MP Shadow Minister for Education
02.01.2022 The Andrews Labor Government awarded a $2.3 billion contract to CRRC Changchun, a Chinese Communist Party-controlled train manufacturer, to build Melbourne’s ne...w High Capacity Metro Trains. Why was this contract awarded to an overseas company, bypassing local manufacturers Alstom and Bombardier, costing Victorian jobs? CRRC Changchun is a key Belt and Road participant accused of benefitting from abusive labour programs. Should Victoria’s trains be built overseas with abused labour? Daniel Andrews' Belt and Road Initiative with the Chinese Communist Party is a great deal for China but a terrible deal for Victoria - that’s why if I’m Premier I will scrap Belt and Road. It’s another reason why tens of thousands of Victorians have no confidence in the Andrews Labor Government. www.noconfidence.com.au #NoConfidenceLabor
01.01.2022 Everyone is pretty happy to see kids back at school - but unfortunately the return is soured because Daniel Andrews is not permitting school photos to be taken during term 4
