23.01.2022 Congratulations to Cadet Beth Shao on your coming Commissioning, early December. We pray God's wisdom for you as you continue to respond to God's calling on your life. God bless you! Here is Beth's reflection on her training to become an Officer of The Salvation Army. For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11), which I held onto in entering college. The countless unknowns about Officership could make me nervous. What I know for certain is that God is trustworthy to guide my life. Soon, I will embark on the next stage of the journey, and God’s words continue to encourage me as I step out in faith." 17.01.2022 Cadet Bethany Baillie is awaiting her commissioning as an Officer of The Salvation Army, this December, after completing two years of training. Below is Bethany's reflection on her formation experience at Eva Burrows College. "I was excited leading into this formation experience. Excited for the opportunity to stop and learn more of myself and more of God ... I have become more confident in who I am, my leadership and how God uses me. I have always had a passion for standing up for those on the margins. This passion has grown, and I have a deeper spiritual understanding of the importance of relationships and being connected with my community." Congratulations Bethany! We pray God continues to guide you as you share the love and heart of Christ in communities.

16.01.2022 Commissioning of Salvation Army Officers includes three steps: signing of covenant, commissioning and ordination, and appointing. These three steps are just as significant in 2020 as in any other year, despite taking place in a different way. The signing of the covenant usually occurs in a small, private ceremony whereas the commissioning, ordination and appointments celebration are usually public events. Here is some insight into the ways the Messengers of Grace created sacred space in their homes in order to set up for these three steps to take place in private over zoom yesterday. You will have opportunity to join the public celebration by watching the online premiere on Saturday 5 December.
