25.01.2022 The smile of a proud finisher, will this be you in 2020? Magnetic Island Loop Stage Race is back. This has become a MUST DO event for Queensland paddlers. Spect...acular scenery as you circumnavigate a very special tropical island, visiting many bays along the way. Your choice of effort level, go hard and stay in the lead group, or go easy and travel among the social paddlers. Enter as an individual or find a mate and paddle a double. Another option is to form a team (2-5 people), just make sure as team founder you get the first choice of leg/s to paddle. Magnetic Island Ferries have special deals for competitors but. YOU MUST BOOK ahead to get special deals - best option to phone on 07 4796 9300 to avoid disappointment. Walk on with boat & save 25% Drive on with boat (book for 6 m vehicle) and save 10% Get a bunch of mates into your car and boats on top, split the cost and have the mobility to enjoy more of the island (when not paddling of course). Oh, dont forget to register !!! https://www.nqoceanpaddleseries.com.au//race-5-magnetic-l/

17.01.2022 Used with permission from Rob Nelson, the author. What a turn out for a Tuesdays paddle! This must be some sort of a record? 18 keen and dedicated paddlers. Well the weather was superb: blue skies white fluffy clouds, a gentle cool breezes, calm expanses of water surrounded in the distance by land with tall green trees. The temperature was coolish but was good for when the paddling got going. Then to emphasize the beauty of the environs the majestic Glass House Mountain rang...e in the distance! The cynical humourist would have speculated at the start of the paddle that with eighteen kayakers on the water that traffic chaos would have occurred. In practice the TL managed everyone calmly and skilfully and a very, very enjoyable and hassle free paddle ensued. Unusually for the SPC there were two smokos. The first at the skids so named cos there is a sand bank there with boats skidding off the sand bank at low tides. The skids is at the halfway point of Pumicestone Passage. The final smoko was at Lime Pocket (on Bribie). This was an extremely pleasant paddle in a wonderful natural theatre. Distance- 22kms See more
