21.01.2022 With today being Anzac Day, I believe it’s a perfect opportunity to reflect on our own lives and circumstances in this unusual time. Whilst we may not be able to march through our main streets, lay a wreath on our local Cenotaph or even go have a drink with mates after it, the meaning of the day should not be forgotten. Today stands as a somber reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that many of our relatives endured whether it be on the front line or grieving at home. Let this day serve as a chance to reflect on our situation and discover that it could be a whole lot worse. Let us pay our respects in however way your household seems fit and never forget the real meaning behind Anzac Day. Lest we Forget

21.01.2022 I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone safe travels if you are heading home. Take this as a chance to recharge and look after yourself in this turbulent time. Whilst this situation is far from ideal. The best that we can all do as individuals is look after ourselves, our families and our local communities. Take every precaution we can to do our bit to hopefully see all of this blow over sooner rather than later. Whilst there is still no indication of when thin...gs will return to normal, we can assure you that when we come back, Evatt will feel just like home again and we will be ready for an amazing semester 2 and to see all of our happy family again. Stay safe and look after yourselves and people around you. Recharge and hopefully we will be ready to make the most of the rest of the year. Carpe Diem, 2020 President- Alexander Crelley

20.01.2022 During this undoubtedly tough time for everyone, especially the hospitality industry. It is important that by doing our bit by staying home, we are also helping out our local business in anyway that we can. The Newcastle Hotel and The Kent Hotel Hamilton are our fabulous sponsor pubs and it’s important that we return the favour for the endless fun that we’ve had at both venues. Both businesses are offering takeaway meals available through online ordering with Newy Fried Chick...en offering delivery as well. Head to both websites to get yourself some amazing food and support the venues that have done so much for us. Sources tell me that the perfect match for a Newy Fried Chicken Sando is a takeaway Squealer full of the delicious Oak and Coke. #supportlocalbusinesses Carpe Diem

20.01.2022 We are proud to announce that we have 5 amazing people that are having a go at Dry July this year. Together we have already raised over $1,800 to provide much needed support to those suffering from cancer with a few exceptional efforts already. Any donations would be greatly appreciated if you are able to spare any money. With the scrapping of the highly coveted charity shield at the end of the year, I am genuinely extremely proud to see so many of us having a go at it this... year in true Evatt Spirit to help others all the while gaining nothing in return whilst some are not even currently living on Evatt for the remainder of the year. I would like to thank everyone that is participating this month after the turbulent start to the year that we have all had and I am sure we are all already greatly looking forward to that first schooner come the 1st of August. 19.01.2022 Being fully aware that there are a number of parents and carers that follow this page we will endeavour to keep you all updated via this platform in regards to the situation at the University and on Evatt. So far there has been no mention of what will happen to residents in terms of whether they will continue to live here for the time being or if they will be sent home. A number of classes have been changed to online lectures however it is advised to still check with lecturer...s and tutors whether that is the case for your course. As soon as there is any news we will post it on here. At this stage it is vital that everyone is practicing a high level of hygiene. Whilst our demographic may not be the most at risk, we can still carry the disease and transmit it to the elderly and people that are more easily susceptible to illness. Look after yourself and those around you. Alexander Crelley Evatt House President 2020

17.01.2022 It’s important in this trying time that we still support our local businesses doing it tough. Make sure you get around Newy Fried Chicken located inside our sponsor Pub the Newy.

15.01.2022 I would like to extend a massive welcome back to our residents whom are moving back on today. I can not wait to see you all around the Quad’s again. I would also like to wish residents that are moving into other colleges the best of luck in what could be an anxious and nervous time for you. Take this new experience in your stride and please make the most of this new adventure you’re embarking on. You’re always welcome back at Evatt and we will no doubt all be together again ...in the near future, celebrating at one of our fantastic sponsor pubs. Once you’re Evatt, you’re always Evatt. Enjoy the rest of the year and make the most of your opportunities. Best wishes, Alexander Crelley Evatt House President 2020

08.01.2022 Just like that, another year on Evatt is done and dusted. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the year that we’ve had. In the most trying of conditions we’ve been able to over come everything and remain a tight knit unit through it all. For those that are moving into houses, I wish you the best of luck in the next stage of your life and just remember that you will always be a part of Evatt, and I’m extremely sure that you will all carry a bit of Eva...tt with you wherever you go. For those moving back on next year, make the most of every opportunity you are given and remember to always seize the day. If this year is taught us anything, it’s that no matter what the circumstances, we are able to improvise and adapt to still enjoy the most that Evatt has to offer. I hope everyone enjoys a relaxing and safe summer break and will hope to see you all at some point down the track. Carpe Diem

07.01.2022 With today being RUOK? Day. I believe it’s very important to not only remember what today is about, but carrying this out everyday. Everyone can have down or off days and that’s totally fine, don’t beat yourself up over it. Especially during the time that we are living through its very easy to let down days turn into a couple of days or even a week or two. The thing that makes Evatt such a strong and important community is that there is always someone to talk to, to go have a... beer with or to just spend time with. Never feel as though you’re burdening someone if you want to talk about heavier things that may be going on. We are always here for you as well as the other members of this powerful community. Check in on your mates, not only today, but any day. For more information head to https://www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day To learn how to start that conversation with someone, no matter who it is. 02.01.2022 It brings me immense pleasure and pride to announce that the Evatt House Dry July team have raised just under $3,500. An absolutely astounding team effort. It is amazing to see the fundamental values of Evatt being upheld and carried out throughout the year whilst during the unusual circumstances. There is still plenty of time to donate if you wish to do so and I’m sure the team will be looking forward to celebrating their phenomenal efforts on the 1st of August. Carpe Diem ...
