22.01.2022 I have been quiet on FB, but busy in the shed. Have just finished this commission; a pencil box made from Jarrah with Woody Pear inlay.
21.01.2022 I'm generally not a great fan of slabs, Marri or polyurethane, but there's a place for everything and it can work really well if done properly. The client wanted a Marri slab as a mantle piece over a gas log fire being put into a new home. He came to the mill with me to select the slab, and it is one the best I have seen. The mantle piece is finished with high gloss, UV protected, polyurethane; it does not 'yellow' with heat and sun, and is tough. As they had buy in throughout the process, the clients have a real sense of ownership and have a back story to go with the piece, and they absolutely love the end result.
17.01.2022 It's not all about serious fine furniture and wood work. The client had bought this quirky hat and coat hanging board thingy, but one of the ducks had a broken and missing leg. No problem, just make a new one and re-create the finish as best I can.
