25.01.2022 Something a lil out of the ordinary for us this week at Exhaust Clean Australia. This DPF/DOC combo unit is off a Kubota positrac SVL75. The boys broke the unit down, cleaned each part individually then reassembled it back together ready for installation back into the machine removing all PM10 from the DPF, DOC and housings. 22.01.2022 This a DPF of an Isuzu FVZ. Unfortunately not much we could do to help this filter out apart from give it a fitting burial and read the last rights! If you have the slightest inclination that something isn’t right with your vehicle get it checked out! A new replacement DPF is well over $3500 for this truck. 21.01.2022 Did you know we cater for machinery that have a Diesel Particulate Filter as well? We recently did a DPF for a Yanmar V4-7 front end loader for a landscape yard cleaning both the DPF and diesel oxidising catalyst(DOC) ensuring everything is nice and clean and as good as new! Backpressure was nearly halved and flowrate was increased by 20 m3 an hour. If you rely on your machinery to be in a reliable state of operation 24/7 then preventative maintenance on things like the DPF is the key to avoid costly downtime! 21.01.2022 We recently did a diagnosis on a VW Crafter for a customer who was having DPF issues that had already cost him a fortune the cause of the problem couldn’t be identified. Yes the DPF was extremely choked full of soot and ash but the we needed to find the reason for this happening! The culprits were intercooler hoses were loose and the tank seals on the intercooler were leaking quite badly. We removed the intercooler hoses and inspected for any signs of them being split or pe...rished. They were all good so have them a clean and refitted with new clamps to ensure they were sealing correctly. Intercooler was replaced with a genuine VW unit to solve the leaks! Someone had tried to seal it up with silicone - epic failure right there!! The DPF itself got a very good clean out and the results were impressive to say the least! Before backpressure - 90mbar Before flowrate - 365m3h After backpressure - 7mbar After flowrate - 490m3h I know DPF’s get a bad rap in the automotive circles for being problematic but at the end of the day the filter itself is doing its job! More often than not it’s a failure of another component that causes the filter to block up with soot/ash. The other common cause of DPF issues is the short stop/start drives. An absolute killer for any modern diesel. If your commutes to/from work and socially are short distances then a petrol powered vehicle is your best option. The complex nature of the emissions systems that have been made mandatory to be fitted to modern diesels need to be driven reasonable distances to allow them to operate as designed. Perhaps the sales people at the dealership/ car yard need a lot more education on how these systems function and to also ask the buyers the right questions on ‘how the vehicle will be used’ not just the ‘can you afford it’ question! 07.01.2022 Mazda 3 DPF we cleaned for one of our regular customers. 286000km on the clock and it was time for a clean! Very high ash loading so vehicle wouldn’t complete a regeneration on its own. Time for a good ol clean! Before backpressure- 36mbar Before flowrate- 449m3h After pressure - 9mbar After flowrate- 486m3h... All nice and clean and ready to go! Periodic maintenance on your dpf will save you thousands down the track! We recommend an off car clean at least every 100-120000km of normal daily driving. If you are only driving short distances then this time frame may need to be shorter! At least once a week get your vehicle out and give it a good run on the freeway for about 45 mins. 07.01.2022 This is a dpf of an Audi SQ5. Car has low kilometres on the clock with a lot of very short trips resulting in the dpf blocking up. Exhaust Clean Australia cleaned it up nicely resulting in backpressure figures dropping from 72mbar down to 16mbar and the flowrate increasing from 392m3h to 476m3h. We also gave the owner of the vehicle some preventative maintenance instructions on how to drive the vehicle to prevent this sort of thing happening again!

Isuzu N and F series trucks with badly blocked DPF’s to the point where the restriction is actually pushing the core of the DPF out of the housing into the end housing of the DPF/DOC combo units these trucks are fitted with. We supplied a brand new DPF core that works every bit as good as an OEM unit but without having to sell your oldest child to pay for it! The DOC, housings, sensors and pressure di...fferential lines all get cleaned out to remove all traces of soot to return the unit to near new condition.
