25.01.2022 Need to get your car across state lines? With Covid restrictions on interstate travel still in force in most states, getting it done commercially is a far safer and easier option. Find out how much it will cost and more on our latest blog: https://bit.ly/2CKhePv

24.01.2022 For many of us, our cars are a great way to express our individuality. We can choose the colour and add accessories to make it ours, and get modifications to make it louder, faster or more comfortable. But what we often don’t think about is how our car’s individuality could affect the resale price when we decide to replace our ride down the track. Individuality is great while you’re the car’s owner - but not so great when you’re selling it to someone else. When it comes to se...lling a car, the more standard it is, the better. Why? Most people replace their cars every 4-5 years, and the more ‘yours’ it is, the harder it is to make ‘theirs’. They also won’t necessarily value the modifications you’ve made as much as you do, and would rather buy standard for less. So it’s important to think about maintaining and maximising the resale value from the moment you take your first drive in it. Or, more accurately, from the moment you start looking at options to buy! Keep these tips in mind: >> while you’re considering uncommon colours, upgrades and modifications, and importantly, >> when you’re choosing between manual and automatic transmission, >> when you’re choosing between manufacturers. Cars from mainstream manufacturers like Toyota, Mazda, Holden, Mitsubishi and Nissan fetch better resale values across the board because people know and trust them. For more tips on maximising your car’s resale value, head to our latest blog: https://expresslube.com.au/maximise-car-resale-value-tips/

22.01.2022 Getting out of town for an iso adventure? With many borders closed and international travel a write-off for the foreseeable future, many of us are keen to explore our own state. It’s important to ensure your vehicle is ready for long distance drives, especially if you’ll be going to remote places where you’ll have limited access to phone reception, GPS signal and service stations. Here are some tips for preparing your car for a road trip from our mechanics. 1. Check your tyre...s or replace them if they’re older than three years. Most tyres are designed to last about 40,000kms. If yours are older than three years - and if you take frequent long trips, or tend towards the speedy side - we recommend you get new tyres before a big road trip. Get a proper spare, too: spares are often temporary tyres designed to get you to the next service station. Consider buying a proper tyre yourself and taking that as a spare. 2. Change your cabin filter. Your air conditioning system has a cabin filter which keeps dust and bacteria out. If you’re going somewhere dusty (like most places in Australia!) it’s a good idea to get a fresh one. 3. Pack with an even load. How weight is distributed in your car affects fuel efficiency, so try to ensure an even spread of weight in your pack. Find plenty more tips on car maintenance and road safety on our blog: https://expresslube.com.au/road-trip-how-to-prepare-car-for #ExpressLubeTips #ExpressLube #RoadTrip #CarLovers #fuelefficiency

20.01.2022 We’ve been talking about the best time of year to sell a car this week, but there’s another side to this story: when NOT to sell your car. Just as there is a best time, there is a worst time, too. One of the worst times to sell a car is around the end of the financial year (EOFY) on June 30th. Why? In the lead up to the EOFY, both new and used car dealerships offer huge promotions and discounts to try to rack up their revenue against their financial year targets. This means t...hat lots of people are considering buying a new car instead of a used one, and those who are buying a used car will be shopping in a far more competitive market. Avoid selling during winter to avoid EOFY sales driving down the value of your used car. To find out the best times of year to sell your car, read up on our latest blog: https://expresslube.com.au/selling-a-car-best-time-to-sell-

20.01.2022 Protecting your car’s paint work with regular cleans is important for maintaining the resale value should you wish to sell in the future. But not every car wash is helping you do that - in fact, many can actually cause damage to your car’s paint work and leave your windscreen no cleaner than when you drove in. The fact is that car wash businesses try to cut costs by reusing the same cloths again and again, and automatic car washes also rinse, wash and shine with pre-used clot...hs and brushes. The forceful spinning motion of the brushes can worsen the damage a dirty cloth can do, and the spinning brushes are also notorious for causing scratches. Wax can transfer from the shine cloths to the rinse cloths, leaving a cloudy sheen on windscreens and windows. So how can you keep enjoying a hands-off, high quality clean at the car wash? 16.01.2022 Did you know that only 9% of cars sold in australia are manuals? For about 20 years, automatics have far outsold manuals, and automatic drivers know why - they’re simply easier to drive (especially in stop-and-start city traffic!). If you want to massively increase the pool of potential buyers when you sell it to get a new set of wheels for yourself, go for an automatic next time. For more tips on maximising your car’s resale value, head to our latest blog: https://expresslube.com.au/maximise-car-resale-value-tips/

14.01.2022 Having a camera watching your eyes every minute you drive may sound like a Big Brother situation, but by 2024, all new cars will be fitted with in-vehicle devices that do just that. Why? The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) is taking Australia’s efforts to eliminate accidents resulting from texting and driving or driver fatigue up a level, announcing that driver distraction technology will be mandatory in all new cars from 2024. Already fitted to many new cars, driver distraction devices are in-built cameras that monitor the driver’s eyes for fatigue, impairment or distraction indicators, and sensors that measure steering wheel inputs, such as gripping or steering. Find out more about this cutting-edge technology, and what it means for you, on our latest blog: https://bit.ly/30UgpM0.

13.01.2022 Did you know that one of the top four causes of fatal car accidents in 2019 was driver distraction? Driver distraction and fatigue together accounted for 28% of fatal accidents in 2019, second only to speeding, and more than double the amount of alcohol-related accidents. These stats can explain why cutting-edge driver distraction technology will be mandatory in all new cars in Australia from 2024 - and this is on top of the $1000 fines for using a mobile phone while driving implemented earlier this year. So how do driver distraction devices work? Find out more on our latest blog: https://bit.ly/30UgpM0

12.01.2022 If you’ve heard much about E10 fuel, you’ve probably heard that it’s better for the environment than regular unleaded petrol. But don’t assume this means E10 fuel is more efficient. Unless you’ve got a performance vehicle, it won’t be. While ethanol blend fuels are cheaper and more sustainable to produce (great!), E10 fuel has a lower energy by volume rating, meaning you’ll get further on a full tank of regular unleaded than you will on a tank of E10. So what IS the best fu...el for your car - and should you switch to something other than regular unleaded? Head to our latest blog to find out: https://bit.ly/37Um5tA #cartips #fuel #e10

08.01.2022 Not all car washes are made equal. Whether you prefer self-service, by-hand or automatic car washes, you might be putting your car at risk of paint damage, swirl marks and dirt buildup. The problem is that car washes are not as safe for your car as you might think. One of the main reasons is that while most car wash staff are aware and capable of good washing practices, the need to compete with an increasingly competitive market means they try to cut costs wherever possible. ...They tend to re-use the same cloths over and over again, resulting in swirl marks, grime buildup and even hairline scratches. And there’s more. Find out more about the risks of car washes and how to avoid them on our latest blog: #ExpressLube #ExpressLubeTips #CarWash #CarMaintenance #CarLovers

07.01.2022 No one likes waiting in line, which makes tasks like getting your driver’s licence renewed at your local transport and motoring service centre a time-consuming and frustrating experience all-round. But waiting in lines to do this sort of unpleasant - but essential - task could be a thing of the past, with the introduction of digital driver’s licences in Australia. They’re more secure and convenient than traditional plastic cards, and better still, they can be updated in real-time, no service centre visits needed. 07.01.2022 Using towels to wash your car? Just quietly we recommend you STOP!! This week we're talking about what to include in your car cleaning kit, including microfibre towels: https://bit.ly/2OdJ0cf Regular towels and common rags aren’t made for gently drying a car’s exterior. They’re often more rough and abrasive than we realise, and can cause scratches on the paintwork. They’re also not very absorbent, so end up pushing water around rather than drying it properly, causing splotc...hes and droplet marks. If you want to get a spotless, scratch-free clean fast, go for a microfibre cloth or washing mit. They’re super absorbent, softer than towels and easy to come by. 07.01.2022 Do you know what to do if you have a car accident? When we’re driving almost every day and feeling safe in our cars, it’s easy to forget how dangerous driving can be. Car accidents are incredibly common, injuring tens of thousands of people and claiming almost 1,200 lives every year. And that’s just the human impact - an accident also damages the cars involved and means someone (or hopefully, someone’s insurance) will need to pay for repairs. If you do happen to get into a c...rash, you’ll feel much better knowing exactly what you need to do. Luckily, we’ve got you covered. Get the full run-down in our latest blog: https://expresslube.com.au/what-to-do-when-you-have-a-car-/ #CarAccident #RoadSafety #Prang #CarCrash

06.01.2022 How often do you replace your ride? Since our needs and preferences are constantly changing, many of us sell our current ride in favour of an upgrade every four or five years. This is totally normal - cars are probably the first thing that needs to change when our lifestyle does! But this buying and selling cycle makes protecting and enhancing car resale value extremely important. Here are our four top tips on maximising your car’s resale value to get the best price.... 1. Keep it mainstream. Individuality is great while you’re the car’s owner - but not so great when you’re selling it to someone else. When it comes to selling a car, the more standard it is, the better. 2. Buy an automatic car. Only about 9% of cars sold in Australia are manual, so if you’d rather sell to the 91% of the population that drives automatic, consider becoming one of them! 3. Buy upgrades for yourself, not for the resale value. Not everyone loves leather upholstery, heated seats or sunroofs enough to pay thousands of extra dollars for them. 4. Protect the interior with car mats. Mats stop dirt, pet hair, food, liquids and general wear and tear from dirtying and damaging the actual interior of your car. Investing a few hundred dollars in car mats now could save you at least twice as much when it comes to car resale value. For more car maintenance tips, check out the range of informative articles and quick reads on our blog: https://expresslube.com.au/maximise-car-resale-value-tips/

06.01.2022 We’ve all seen the safety signs designed to reduce road accidents due to driver distraction or fatigue, telling us to ‘rest every two hours’, or that ‘driver fatigue can kill’. But ANCAP is taking Australia’s safe driving efforts up a level with in-vehicle driver distraction technology. If a $1,000 fine isn’t enough to stop drivers from using their mobile phones while driving, we think these devices will. So what is driver distraction technology? Find out more on our latest blog: https://bit.ly/30UgpM0.
