03.01.2022 DEVELOPPES A LA SECONDE I had a great chat with one of my beautiful former students @andreazappaa about improving developpe height and strength and sent her a video of an exercise that I have always sworn by to help with extensions to the side...I know that many dancers long for beautiful extensions, so I wanted to share my insight & a helpful exercise to work on. Exercises like these work on your flexibility AND activating the muscles needed to hold a developpe a la sec...onde. Lots of students ask me how I am still able to hold my legs high in extensions even though I no longer consistently train and stretch. (Although I admit, it feels a bit different these days ) It is from these types of exercises that I did each and every day when I was a student...because it is in my MUSCLE MEMORY. This exercise is almost like a guided grand rond de jambe from devant to seconde. Taking 5 minutes out of your day to complete this exercise means that you are consistently teaching your body how to do your best developpe a la seconde. (Please excuse my very unimpressed facial expression, I might need some sunglasses for next time)
