24.01.2022 Customer called today to say he had lost steering. He was doing 25 (ish) knots, changed course to go around a yacht, then when turning to get back on course the vessel stayed tight to the right still at 25 knots. He slowed down to avoid incident. There was no drama with other vessels or close contact. Upon inspection it was found that the steering rod end had corroded and snapped. ... In a more crowded waterways this could of been a lot worse. Routine inspections of all running gear, steering systems, ball valves etc to ensure safe boating

24.01.2022 Welcome to 2021 Hoping you all had a great Christmas and New Year and the holiday season has given you trouble free boating. Officially we are back on the tools as of Monday 11th Jan but I’ve been back into a few diagnostic jobs to get the ball rolling Today’s job sees us completing a Pre Purchase inspection on an Alaska 46

19.01.2022 It’s been a busy middle part of 2020 that’s for sure, several new vessel commissionings, engine rebuilds, cooling system services and more pre purchases than ever. As the year gets closer to ending I’m sure everyone is looking forward to a break and getting away, make sure you book in sooner rather than later to ensure trouble free boating

18.01.2022 It’s been a big couple of days doing commissioning and sea trials on the new 24m Reef Resilience Marine Parks cat. Built by Norman Wright and Sons in Coomera, powered by MAN V12-1400, this 112 tonne beast has a cruise speed of 20 knots and tops out at 26knots. She will be based out of Gladstone and will be used to look after the lower Great Barrier Reef Islands

18.01.2022 So, we tried a new brand of running gear anti foul product Let’s just say we’ll stick with a proven product from now on 3 months in the water, sea trialled and wouldn’t make speed, scrapped and cleaned in December Photo of growth is after 6 weeks sitting Speed of 7knots at 100% throttle on what would usually be 30 knots... All cleaned and polished and back in the water today See more

17.01.2022 Pre purchase inspections carried out on a Cummins powered Meridian As you can see by the bulge in the cooling hoses there appears to be a blockage in the coolers. Engines overheated on sea trials and a few oil leaks were also found, from here we can establish what work is required to bring the engines back to a better serviceable life It’s a wise choice to have machinery checked prior to purchase to ensure no nasty surprises.

13.01.2022 Tune up time on this 6V92 Detroit Diesel after rebuild Getting final touches done and getting ready for start up tomorrow

11.01.2022 When was the last time you had your engines cooling system serviced? The new owner of this vessel thought it would be best to get his done after pre purchase inspections showed leaks and corrosion from end cap seals. The heat exchangers, intercoolers and gearbox coolers from the Volvo TAMD73 powered vessel we removed today for cleaning and resealing and as can be seen in pics they look like they haven’t been done for a while, if ever.
