24.01.2022 Storm Chase 18th February 2020 Supercell Structure! Mittagong Supercell Went out for a chase today - just prior to sunset the cell consolidated so I decided to... see what was on the other side of the structure. I literally watched a supercell evolve. By the way, this was one of the only breaks in the trees! Hailstones were falling at the time and there was low light! The structure lines up with the hook on radar! I saw the wall cloud earlier perhaps even 3/4 hour earlier but could not photograph it! At this point it was a ground scraping wall cloud! The ridge line is 600 metres above sea level and drops down to Sydney 30 to 60 metres 50 to 60km away north to north east and the coast is literally about 60km from the ocean to the east The structure though sent me goose bumps! Update: I have added other pictures to this. The hailstones I measure were to 4.5cm - others measured 6cm in Mittagong. You can see other pictures showing the vault and mesocycone as well as wall cloud persisting as it passes overhead Strictly Not for Media Use - Licensing Available

22.01.2022 A long chase day today. Headed up to the eastern Hunter Valley had lunch and then the chase was on. First meeting up with Michael Thomas and Tejay. The first ce...ll we intercepted near Dungog was the taster as a second cell developed nearby. This new cell literally developed and organised rather rapidly! It was only a few spots where we could stop to observe this supercell. I must say jaw dropping structure but also awesome contrast up close! This cell showed brief signs of rotation and then must have hit cooler air and weakened becoming elevated near Karuah. The guys and I became disconnected after this and I intercepted the next cell near Stroud and I backtracked to Bulahdelah for some pretty structure. I ventured up the coast and intercepted another cell that briefly went severe near the coast and weakened. It was on to Nabiac and Taree. the Taree cell allowed for an understanding of what had been happening during the day. S winds and its associated boundary met the northeast infeed. Although the storm remained elevated it was able to tap into this moist boundary. This storm produced some insane dangerous bolts as the storm intensified and headed towards the coast near or just north of Forster. This was a nasty core with hailstones but I could only see numerous pea sized hailstones. Strong winds and blinding rain with down trees was also a feature of this severe storm. 19.01.2022 Started the day near Penrith and headed leisurely to Oberon. First storms of the day - one took shape and intensified. After getting hailed on (up to golf balls...) made my way to Lithgow. This was treacherous - slippery roads, hydro-planing, and hail early on in Oberon. Rain was heavy but I got through to a beautiful storm structure SW of Lithgow as it took on supercell characteristics. After taking a few shots here of structure and base, got hailed on in Lthgow including birds cowering under low shrubs due to the hail! Made my way to intercept the Sydney supercell but was unimpressed with the weakening cell so went to measure hail in the Putty Road. There was two kilometres of hail drifts up to 10 to 15cm in depth. Hail sizes up to 7.2cm in length. After getting some reception near Putty, I noticed the new supercell developing and made a dash for it. The core was once again treacherous - hail fog, hail large to giant hail falling, hail drifts, shredded leaves, very heavy rain flash flooding, tree branches and even large rocks on the road. Caught up with the core at dusk SW of Singleton. However, the conditions were so dangerous I simply had to stop with blinding rain dumping and barely being able to see the road and flash flooding. I had to head into Singleton to fuel up - not enough to head back through the Putty and make it home. Measured and photographed hail to 6.5cm about 1.5 hours after the storm! Arrived home mid-night.

14.01.2022 The El Reno 31st May 2013 continues to amaze me as I peruse further documentation and videos of the event. It now has come to me that huge hailstones that were potential record breakers of 16 to 20 cm in diameter and also other chasers telling tales of being hit by the satellite tornado in I-40! Simply incredible but also a very dangerous storm chase!

06.01.2022 On the 28th and 29th December, I headed out chasing up and including the NW Slopes and Plains. Storms went up early on both days but it was the late shows that ...produced the best photography. My favourite was a right mover that developed rapidly and became severe towards Dunedoo and Coolah - the usual no roads to get the best contrast! Sorry for the processing of those pictures but the lighting was pathetic plus hills in the way to show an impressive cow catcher and inflow structure! Edited added a lightning picture I forgot to load

04.01.2022 Finally a chase with structure! Got onto a storm near Liverpool and followed it including copping hail to about 2cm or so not measured as I was in transit but I could hear hail hitting rooftops. Then evening storms and lightning with structure! Not for media use Licensing available

03.01.2022 Southern Tablelands near Moss Vale today! Just briefly an insane show! The best structure and lightning for me this season! Images Copyright Jimmy Deguara Not f...or media Use - Licensing Available including video. These are stills from video www.extremestorms.com.au
