Bacteria is found in water and whilst your normal tear film would wash these off your contacts, it doesn't happen when in the water & they stick around. So wearing them for any length of time is not ideal. 04.01.2022 Have you noticed that there are differences in the path in malls and at the traffic lights. There are tiles that has dots or strips. Some bus stops and Queensland Rail also use these tiles. These tiles are called tactile ground surface indicators, braille Trail or hazard tiles. These tiles are used by the vision impaired and blind to assist in moving around the city. You will find these tiles in high traffic volume areas. The blind and vision impaired use a long cane or unde...rfoot feel to alert them of hazards, direction options or surface grade changes. There are two types of tiles, raised dots (hazard tiles to tell us that there is a hazard in the area or a cross way ahead) and raised lines (directional tiles that we follow with our cane or foot to get to a location). We use sound in the environment along with the tiles to help us navigate. Some traffic lights have audible and tactile signals to let the visually impaired and blind know when the lights change. The audible signal is very obvious. A slow beep when it is not safe to move and a fast beep when it is safe to cross. However, there is also a tactile signal. This is used as the audible signals can be confusing in noisy areas. The tactile signal is a vibration on the push button, which when combined with the audible sound tells us when it is ok to cross. Fast means go and slow means stop. It is important for the visually impaired and blind that we, if possible, have access to these two tools to aid us to be independent. Can you please help us by watching when you are in malls or at traffic lights, and there is a visually impaired or blind person in the area and giving us the access to these tools.
