22.01.2022 ENSURE YOUR ONLINE XMAS PURCHASES ARE GENUINE Scammers will go to great lengths to make their website look like a genuine online store. Pause when you see that very popular item at an unbelievably cheap price. Do your research by checking independent reviews of online stores & seller's history's on classified websites. An indicator can be in the delivery. Australia Post will never ask you to click a link to enter your personal details, nor will they ask for credit card details or a fee to deliver your packages. If you have been the victim of a scam, contact your bank ASAP and also the platform on which you were scammed to inform them of the circumstances.

22.01.2022 OPERATION AMITY KICKS OFF FOR THE AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND Tragically 10 people lost their lives on Victorian roads over the Christmas/ New Year period and their family and friends have been left devastated by this road trauma. Across this 20-day period 463 people were caught drink driving and 535 people caught with drugs in their system. Like alcohol, drugs can reduce a driver’s ability to have full control of a vehicle.... More than 14,216 traffic offences and 1,332 crime offences were detected in Victoria across these 20 days and included: 6,201 speeding offences 353 disqualified/suspended drivers 526 unlicensed drivers 1,564 unregistered vehicles 502 mobile phone offences 693 disobey signs/signals 241 vehicle impounds 298 seatbelt offences Our Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Libby Murphy said: "...it is disappointing to see that despite all the warnings Victorians continue to drive impaired. It is not worth being caught, or worse seriously injuring or killing yourself, your mates, or an innocent road user. We want 2021 to be a better year for all Victorians. This means slowing down, avoiding distractions such as using mobile phones while driving, buckling up and stopping for appropriate rest breaks when travelling long distances. Putting on a seatbelt gives you the best chance of survival if involved in a serious collision. Sadly lives could have been saved if people managed to do this simple task. Whether you are travelling a short distance down the road or on a long journey always wear a seatbelt. There’s no excuse." Police are now focusing on OPERATION AMITY over the Australia Day Long Weekend. Please focus on your driving. Do not become a statistic when we report on outcomes from this operation. Think what you are risking.

21.01.2022 If an offer of #QuickCash or #EasyMoney seems too good to be true, it probably is. Money muling is a type of money laundering. A ‘money mule’ is a person who receives money from a third party in their bank account and transfers it to another account, or withdraws it in cash to give to someone else, obtaining a commission for their efforts.... Simply put, money mules help criminal syndicates move money around the world, but the consequences for the money mules can be severe. 19.01.2022 COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS INCREASE SAFETY AT SCHOOL CROSSING Earlier this year Senior Constable Atkinson attended Benalla P-12 College - Avon Street campus as part of Victoria Police community connection program. While waiting to cross the road, School Crossing Supervisor Marg identified a safety concern for the children with the location of the line marking being too close to the road. Engagement between police and Benalla Rural City Council resulted in a positive outcome ...with the line being relocated further back from the road, thereby increasing the safety for the children who were really happy to see the new bright white line. Marg and our other crossing supervisors do a wonderful job ensuring the children cross the road safely to and from school. We thank them for their ongoing commitment to our children and our community. When waiting to cross at a supervised school crossing, make sure you wait behind the line until the supervisor has safely stopped traffic and blown the whistle before you step out to cross the road.
