20.01.2022 Police in the Campaspe Police Service Area will be actively patrolling the regions roads during the 2021 Easter Break. Police expect people to travel longer distances and spend more time in the car over the Easter long weekend as people make their way to holiday areas. But unfortunately with this, we know we’ll see more high-risk driving, where some people make poor decisions to speed or drink drive. Police will be highly visible in the community. It’s true, we can’t be every...where, but we will be somewhere you least expect us. Areas of focus during Operation Nexus speeding, drink/ drug driving, mobile phone use, not wearing seatbelts and fatigue. If you see the driver reviver stations set up, please make the effort to stop, rest and refresh. Operation Nexus involves all available personnel from local road policing units to general duties and centralised support from other operational policing units. Regional Victoria remains a high risk of trauma (higher speed limits, longer distances, influx of visitors over the Easter break) Excessive and inappropriate speed continued to play a significant role in road trauma. Speeding increases both the likelihood of a collision and the severity of the crash. More than 34 per cent of fatal collisions in 2020 suspected speed to be a contributing factor. Over the past 5 Easter long weekends, 6 lives have been lost and a further 864 people injured, across the state. Further, a total of 33,776 traffic and criminal offences have been detected over the same period, including 15,792 for speeding, across the state.

11.01.2022 Echuca Police are currently investigating a number of incidents involving the theft of tools from utes. A lot of inconvenience can be avoided by taking some simple steps to secure your tools when leaving cars unattended. 03.01.2022 To say it’s been a challenging time would be an understatement. Every year here in Central Victoria we run a National Police Remembrance Day Service and despite limitations we thought it was equally, if not more relevant to honour our fallen members in any way we could. The very small service was no doubt a bit different, but held the same significant meaning and was a message of resilience.... Normally we represent those who have passed away with a flower, but this year we thought it was important to acknowledge everyone who couldn’t be there. The police hat on a chair symbolises those who are no longer with us, as well as police and the wider community who couldn’t attend in the circumstances. #NPRD
