24.01.2022 Lock it up, don’t be a nut Break-ins and thefts of work tools from vehicles is an ongoing issue for those working within a trade. Throughout 2019, almost 46,000 tools were stolen in Victoria with a total value of nearly $30.5 million. Victoria Police and Crime Stoppers Victoria are urging tradies storing tools in their vehicles to protect their equipment by parking off street and in garages where possible.... 24.01.2022 Found a bargain online? Don’t be a tool If you think you’re getting a deal too good to be true, it probably is. The theft and reselling of tools online is a common problem for people working in trades with over 24,500 power tools stolen in Victoria last year. To assist with the recovery of stolen tools, Crime Stoppers Victoria and Victoria Police are encouraging tradies to engrave or mark tools for easy identification. The letter V followed by a Victorian Licence number is ...recommended. Cataloguing your tools including serial numbers and image can also help you keep track of your property and provide proof of ownership. If you are suspicious about the selling of cheap online tools, report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au or call 1800 333 000

23.01.2022 To say it’s been a challenging time would be an understatement. Every year here in Central Victoria we run a National Police Remembrance Day Service and despite limitations we thought it was equally, if not more relevant to honour our fallen members in any way we could. The very small service was no doubt a bit different, but held the same significant meaning and was a message of resilience.... Normally we represent those who have passed away with a flower, but this year we thought it was important to acknowledge everyone who couldn’t be there. The police hat on a chair symbolises those who are no longer with us, as well as police and the wider community who couldn’t attend in the circumstances. #NPRD

23.01.2022 One bad decision can be the difference between life and death. Victoria Police are on our roads so you can get home safe.

20.01.2022 If you leave car keys in your vehicle, you may as well be giving criminals a free ride. The best way to stop vehicle theft is to stop giving criminals the opportunity to do so. Secure your vehicle by locking it and placing your car keys in safe place that is known only to you.... If you are a victim of car theft, you can report it to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444. If the crime is happening now, or an offender might still be in the area, call Triple Zero (000). You can also report confidentially to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at https://bit.ly/2JhWHEQ

19.01.2022 If an offer of #QuickCash or #EasyMoney seems too good to be true, it probably is. Money muling is a type of money laundering. A ‘money mule’ is a person who receives money from a third party in their bank account and transfers it to another account, or withdraws it in cash to give to someone else, obtaining a commission for their efforts.... Simply put, money mules help criminal syndicates move money around the world, but the consequences for the money mules can be severe.
