23.01.2022 Melton Police were astounded at the behaviour of a driver on Sunday and wished to share the statement that having your Driver Licence is a privilege and not a right. At about 1am Police had just finished dealing with a hoon driver on High Street, Melton and were parked on the side of the road in a marked Police car and very visible for all to see, well not ALL. Police observed a vehicle leave the car wash doing a burnout and in no control. Suddenly becoming aware of her be...haviour, the driver turned off her lights in an attempt to avoid Police. Thank fully she was located a short distance away and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.10. The most disappointing part of this intercept was that Police discovered the 18yr old from Kurunjang, a holder of a Probationary P1 licence had held her licence less than 24hrs. The driver will also need to find a lift to the Magistrate’s Court where she will face numerous driving charges.

20.01.2022 With Stage 4 restrictions in place in metropolitan Melbourne, cyclists are more likely to be riding in local streets within their 5km radius. This can mean the potential for a collision with vehicles reversing from driveways and the risk of serious injury is higher. As we stay closer to home to exercise, all road users including drivers and cyclists need to be aware of their surroundings in these shared spaces. Lets keep working together to stay safe.

20.01.2022 Police have seen a recent spike in offences such as robberies, thefts, deceptions and assaults associated with social media sales and online marketplaces. We have previously warned about offences where an offender confirms an electronic transfer of money has been completed but upon the property exchange occurring, the transfer is quickly cancelled leaving victims empty handed and often without accurate details for police to follow up. In addition, we are now seeing escalated... and more brazen offending where the exchange of money and property takes place in person, only for the victim to be assaulted and who then steal both the property and money. We are working to investigate these matters in order to hold offenders to account. However, it is a timely reminder that as part of the Stage 4 Restrictions in Melton there are currently only four reasons to leave the home. to shop for food and essential goods or services. to provide care, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment. to exercise or for outdoor recreation. for work or study, if you cant do it from home. As much as you can, you must stay home. Please consider the above before choosing to buy, swap and sell goods in person via social media sales and online marketplaces. Police are actively enforcing any deliberate breaches of the Chief Health Officers restrictions. For more information on the current restrictions visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au

17.01.2022 Easter break has started and Operation Nexus is well underway. Melton Highway Patrol spent some time this afternoon on the outbound side of the Western Freeway at the Ballarat Road on-ramp. Traffic was particularly busy during this period. There is an ongoing issue here with drivers from the Western Freeway illegally cutting into the Ballarat Road on-ramp lanes by crossing the continuous lines dividing the lanes for the sake of getting a few hundred metres ahead. Aside from b...eing illegal it's also inconsiderate to other drivers who are doing the right thing by waiting patiently on the main freeway. During approximately one hour of patrols 13 drivers were issued infringements for driving over a continuous dividing line along with one driver not wearing a seat belt and a motorcycle rider illegally lane filtering. #OpNexus

08.01.2022 BrimbankHWP up in Hillside tonight happy to be able to reunite a stolen GSXR with the lawful owner from Panton Hill. Not so happy an outcome for the 34 year old male from Craigieburn who was riding it at the time. No key or petrol tank cap are pretty big clues it's stolen. #BrimbankHWP

08.01.2022 BrimbankHWP patrolling along Gourlay Rd on a Sunday afternoon disappointed to come across this 26 year old P plater from Hillside. First issue not abiding by his high powered vehicle restrictions. Second issue his disregard for the 60kmh speed limit. Some people simply don't belong on our roads. Better it takes BrimbankHWP with a tow truck than an ambulance to teach the lesson. #BrimbankHWP
