25.01.2022 It's been a busy day on patrol and meeting the locals at the Rye Foreshore and boat ramp for Operation UNITY! Stay safe, everyone!

24.01.2022 Police will be highly visible this Australia Day long weekend across Port Phillip Bay for Operation Unity, as people flock to enjoy everything Victorian beaches have to offer. Over the past several weeks police have seen an increase of serious marine related incidents in waters extending from Mount Martha to Portsea Police are urging boaters and personal watercraft (PWC) users to be mindful of laws in areas where waters are shared with swimmers.... Officers from Southern Metro Region as well as the Water Police Squad and other government agencies will be enforcing water safety from boat ramps to popular beaches, focusing on compliance with water safety rules, to reduce the number of marine incidents and collisions caused by unsafe behaviour. There will be a strong focus on public order and local by-law enforcement. Anyone who witnesses dangerous behaviour on the water can report non-urgent incidents via the Police Assistance Line 131 444, in an emergency contact Triple 000. We generally see a surge in the holiday population on the Mornington Peninsula over this long weekend and more people utilise the foreshore precincts and the nearby water. It’s a great atmosphere over the summer period, and I encourage everyone to have fun. But it’s been well publicised recently that there have been a spate of water related incidents ranging from drownings, injuries due to misadventure, and jet-ski collisions. We simply won’t tolerate people who fail to observe marine safety laws, local by-laws, or those who commit criminal and anti-social behaviour there will be no warnings. We just want people to think particularly when they’re on and next to the water. I can assure the greater community that police won’t hesitate in holding offenders to account if people don’t obey the rules. - Rosebud Police A/Sergeant Flyn Loughlin:

24.01.2022 YOUTH CRIME ON THE SOUTHERN PENINSULA Rosebud Police, in partnership with specialist branches of Victoria Police and local government, are cracking down on the escalating antisocial behaviour taking place in the reserves and bushland on the lower Mornington Peninsula. Police have increased patrols in the area, and are actively targeting known offenders. If you are a resident of this area or have any information that may assist Police, we strongly encourage you to contact Crim...estoppers on 1800 333 000 or at https://bddy.me/3iUEQjX It is important that information is passed onto us via Crimestoppers, rather than directly to local Police stations, so as it can be collected and properly assessed at one central point. The more information we can collect, the more effective we can be in dealing with these offenders. If you are a Mornington Peninsula local, we encourage you to share this post in your social media groups to get the word out. We all, Police and community alike, take a great deal of pride in our Peninsula, and want to make sure it remains a safe and pleasant place to live.

24.01.2022 We are shining a light on road safety for National Road Safety Week (15 22 Nov, 2020). Together we can raise awareness, prevent deaths and injuries on our roads and support those impacted by road trauma. Read more roadsafetyweek.com.au/... #shinealightonroadsafety #NRSW

23.01.2022 Lock it up, don’t be a nut Break-ins and thefts of work tools from vehicles is an ongoing issue for those working within a trade. Throughout 2019, almost 46,000 tools were stolen in Victoria with a total value of nearly $30.5 million. Victoria Police and Crime Stoppers Victoria are urging tradies storing tools in their vehicles to protect their equipment by parking off street and in garages where possible.... If you see suspicious behaviour on construction sites or around parked trade vehicles, report it online at https://bddy.me/3nsJKXC or call 1800 333 000. For immediate police assistance, call Triple Zero (000)

21.01.2022 PENINSULA LINK COLLISION SUNDAY NIGHT - ALLEGED OFFENDING DRIVER INTERVIEWED A 43 y.o. male from Safety Beach has been interviewed by police and released pending summons following the serious motor vehicle collision on Peninsula Link in Baxter on Sunday night. Thankyou to those members of the public who assisted on the night and afterwards.

21.01.2022 A few things to keep in mind if you’re heading down our way over the next few weeks, especially if you’ve only just landed your P’s. We know many school leavers may be planning on travelling to regional Victoria to celebrate this year due to the restrictions on interstate and international travel. We want all young drivers to have road safety at the front of their mind as this may be the first time many of them have driven lengthy distances on their own, particularly tho...se from within metropolitan Melbourne who have been restricted to only travelling 5km from their homes over the past few months. We ask all young drivers to be patient, exercise caution and ensure that you keep yourself and other road users safe. Drivers also need to ensure they and their passengers are buckling up, not driving while impaired or using a mobile phone while driving. Drivers heading to popular coastal locations should expect to see vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists around busy areas such as parks and beaches and should drive accordingly. Police will have a highly visible presence on the roads in an effort to keep everyone safe. We do not want to see any tragedies on our roads during this time of celebration. Road policing operations continue to run targeting speeding, drink and drug driving, people not wearing seatbelts, driver distraction which includes mobile phone use and fatigue Our highway patrol officers continue to monitor their local areas and adapt their operations and general patrols to target bad driver behaviour in the current climate.

19.01.2022 Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Rosebud's newest recruit; Senior Constable Bruce ALMIGHTY. Bruce is a dogged, hard/wet-nosed investigator with a taste for justice. And roast chicken. And kebabs. And chips. But mostly justice. He roams the halls of the Rosebud Police Station, barking at evildoers, villains, miscreants, and occasionally doors opening that take him by surprise.... Bruce also enjoys a bit of undercover work from time to time, occasionally posing as ‘Dog who has not been fed’. He is not especially convincing, it must be said. As time goes on, you can expect Bruce to share this thoughts and wisdom on the world, and maybe even reveal the greatest mystery of all - What exactly is he dreaming about when he runs in his sleep? Bruce’s piece of advice for this week: If you’re coming down to visit the Peninsula, remember that people (and dogs) live here, so don’t trash the place. Be respectful, anything less would be positively cat-like. And Bruce is NOT about that life.

19.01.2022 This year, we are inviting the community to join us online for the annual National Police Remembrance Day service. The online service will not only honour Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris who died in the line of du...ty in Kew on 22 April, but also the lives of another 19 Victoria Police officers, Victorian Public Service staff and police chaplains who died in the last year. 19.01.2022 Four Victoria Police caps and badges have been conveyed to Canberra for the National Police Remembrance Day ceremony on 29 September. They represent the four Victoria Police officers who sadly lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew on 22 April, 2020. Four touchstones will also be placed at the National Police Memorial wall in Canberra in their honour. Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, this year’s Victorian Police Remembrance Day service in Melbourne will be st...reamed on YouTube from 10am, Tuesday 29 September, in lieu of a traditional memorial. 18.01.2022 We know people would normally like to travel out of Melbourne to popular destinations such as the Mornington Peninsula as the weather warms up and school holidays approach. In an effort to deter and detect any breaches of the Chief Health Officer’s directions, police will have a highly visible presence in the Mornington Peninsula community, including at vehicle checkpoints on major arterial roads, mobile vehicle checkpoints and ongoing proactive patrols as part of Operation S...entinel. Anyone pulled over at a vehicle checkpoint can expect to have their licence and work permit checked by police and their residential address confirmed. Police will also be proactively patrolling popular locations such as beaches, parks and other areas where people are expected to visit to ensure that everyone is adhering to the current Stage 4 restrictions. This includes ensuring only Mornington Peninsula residents or others travelling with a permitted purpose are found to be in the area. Anyone who lives in the Mornington Peninsula area and is travelling for a permitted purpose should expect to see some delays while the vehicle checkpoints are in place. While these checkpoints may cause some inconvenience for local residents, it’s important to remember that they are an important component in stopping the spread of coronavirus and keeping the community safe.

18.01.2022 If an offer of #QuickCash or #EasyMoney seems too good to be true, it probably is. Money muling is a type of money laundering. A ‘money mule’ is a person who receives money from a third party in their bank account and transfers it to another account, or withdraws it in cash to give to someone else, obtaining a commission for their efforts.... Simply put, money mules help criminal syndicates move money around the world, but the consequences for the money mules can be severe. 17.01.2022 A little bit of advice for parents of schoolies An awkward conversation now could save a lot of dramas in the long run. Our message to parents or a loved one of a school leaver is to have open, frank conversations. Talk to them about the risks involved with excessive consumption of alcohol, taking drugs and encourage them to say no to peer pressure and risky behaviour.... Make sure you know where they will be staying, and who they will be staying with, and they have all the right contact details in case they need help. Encourage them to have their mobile on them in case of an emergency and so they can contact their friends if they lose them. And most of all - Tell them to call 000 if they get into any dramas - We're here to make sure everyone is safe.

17.01.2022 Join us here https://youtu.be/uleE9Xps2NY from 10am today for a virtual National Police Remembrance Day (Victoria) ceremony as we remember those who have dedicated their lives to community safety. This includes Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris who were tragically killed in the line of duty on the Eastern Freeway in Kew on 22 April 2020. 16.01.2022 Recently Main Street, Mornington was closed to all road traffic between the Esplanade and Barkly Street. Whilst this is fantastic for the local community and Main Street traders, it is a timely reminder for all that are visiting the area that unless you are within the confines of a licenced venue, the Mornington CBD is a designated no alcohol area. This means that you can not be in the shaded area on the map and consume alcohol or have and open container of alcohol on you.... IF found to be be committing one of these offences Police and Local Laws Officers have the ability to issues on the spot fines and issue a banning notice. The banning notice will ban you from the designated area for 72 hours. Police will be out in force over the coming holiday period to ensure that everyone is having a fun and safe time in our new CBD.

15.01.2022 LET’S TRY THIS AGAIN It would seem that our accidental foray into the world of Teaser trailers was "popular" in it’s way, but we think this time we’ll stick to a more traditional (and specific) news post Rosebud Police, in partnership with the local community and council, are cracking down on monkey bikes and dirt bikes being used recklessly in the area of Weeroona reserve parkland, bordered by Weeroona Road, Browns Road, Truemans Road and Highbury road in Tootgarook. ... You only need to look to the tragic events in Carrum Downs to see how dangerous these vehicles can be when they’re misused. We urge people to provide any information they have regarding these offenders to Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or at https://bddy.me/32Zb0FG . It is vitally important that any information regarding these offenders is passed along to us. Since the last post was a bit (okay, very) vague, let us be perfectly clear in this one - WE WILL be seizing and impounding these bikes. WE WILL be issuing fines. WE WILL be putting people before the courts for their offending. WE WILL NOT tolerate irresponsible behaviour that puts people at risk.

15.01.2022 Every day around 18 Victorians will have a cardiac arrest, with only 1 in 10 surviving. Bystander intervention has the greatest impact of improving that rate. 13.01.2022 We hope all of our schoolies are having fun and blowing off a bit of steam. But, we’ve all got that one mate that tends to take it a bit far. A few things to keep in mind: We know that most school leavers do the right thing, take responsibility for their own actions and look out for their mates. Many enjoy themselves by drinking in moderation and some without even drinking at all. But there are always some school leavers who choose to binge drink.... This is concerning because not only is this behaviour happening at licensed venues, but we are seeing some school leavers who are drinking to excess at house parties or ‘pre-loading’ before heading out for the night. The temptation to get carried away and take things too far can be heightened when you are in holiday mode with your mates. It’s important to show respect for the communities, venues and private property you might be visiting and keep each other accountable for responsible behaviour. Don’t ruin the schoolies break for you or your friends by taking the celebrations too far. Keep an eye on each other and speak up if your friends are taking things too far. If one of your friends is drinking to excess or engaging in risk-taking behaviour don’t hesitate to call them out on it it could save them from hurting themselves or someone else, or getting arrested. They might even thank you later for it. If you have any concerns, please seek help immediately. We strongly encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim of crime to contact police as soon as possible so the incident can be thoroughly investigated. School leavers are reminded to respect the communities they’re visiting, including being mindful of noise levels and to report any suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. In an emergency call Triple Zero (000).

13.01.2022 We posted this a few weeks back, but with Schoolies on the horizon, this seems more appropriate than ever. No-one is invincible behind the wheel of a car. One moment of inattention is all it can take to make a mistake that can't be undone. Corey Hammond lost his life when his car veered off the road and crashed into trees on Phillip Island Road in the early hours of March 25, 2017. He was speeding, intoxicated, and on his phone. Two years on and still dealing with the heartb...reak, Corey’s mum and dad, friends, and the police who were at the scene speak about how Corey’s decisions have left them devastated. Every decision made behind the wheel of a car has a consequence. Who would be left behind to deal with the consequences of your decisions? 14 people have lost their lives on Frankston & Mornington Peninsula roads in 2020. Please drive safely. https://bddy.me/3maMrwD

12.01.2022 If you leave car keys in your vehicle, you may as well be giving criminals a free ride. The best way to stop vehicle theft is to stop giving criminals the opportunity to do so. 10.01.2022 NO POLICE REMEMBRANCE SERVICE AT ROSEBUD RSL THIS YEAR Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no service held for fallen Police members at the Rosebud RSL on National Police Remembrance day on the 29th of September this year. People are still encouraged to pay their respects by logging onto https://bddy.me/2RZhKgx at 10am on the 29th of September for a special service that will be broadcast in honour of the Police members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their community and state.

09.01.2022 Today's #viewfromtheoffice. It's good to be out and about again! Be mindful though - we're not out of the woods yet. Make sure you're still wearing your mask, and being vigilant with social distancing. Go out, enjoy the sun, support your local businesses. You've earned it. :)

08.01.2022 Police are warning the community to be wary of a recent spate of telephone scams. Members of the public have contacted police stating they have received a phone call from someone claiming the victim has an outstanding tax debt. Often the number displayed on the caller identification is that of a local police station or other government agency, such as the ATO.... The scammers reportedly ask for personal information or bank details, and in some examples request the victim purchases online music vouchers or similar products to pay supposed fines. If you receive a phone call requesting personal information or payment from a person representing themselves from a law enforcement or government agency: Do not respond to the request and hang up Call the institution back via a publicly listed phone number If you have lost money as a result of this type of scam, please report the matter to your local police station. You can also report scams to Scamwatch via https://bddy.me/36osoFZ

08.01.2022 As the weather starts to warm up, we know this is a time when many people would normally like to be out and about but it is important that if you choose to leave your home you continue to adhere to the directions of the Chief Health Officer. For those in Metropolitan Melbourne this includes following the directions around public gatherings which are strictly limited to a maximum of five people from up to two households. Breaching this restriction will result in a $4956 infri...ngement notice. People must also continue to wear a mask and not travel further than 5km from home. While the majority of Victorians continue to do the right thing there unfortunately remain those who deliberately breach restrictions and place lives at risk. A number of fines were issued to people who breached directions at St Kilda beach yesterday (Friday 2 October) and Victoria Police will be out in force at beaches and popular public spaces this weekend. We will not hesitate to fine those who clearly and blatantly breach the Chief Health Officer directions. 06.01.2022 UNLICENSED DRIVER HAS UTE IMPOUNDED - AGAIN A 36 y.o.male from Frankston has had the same green Holden ute impounded for the second time in 2020 for driving without a licence. The male was driving along Brunel Rd Seaford about midday last Thursday when he passed a Somerville HWP vehicle equipped with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) which alerted police. A quick U-turn by the HWP members allowed them to locate the ute, which the driver had tried to hide by quickly d...riving in beside some factories on Stephenson Rd. A tow truck was ordered, and the ute was towed away to Preston for at least a month a short time later ($961 release fee). The male driver will be summonsed to appear at Frankston Magistrates' Court (again) at a later date. Somerville HWP has multiple ANPR equipped vehicles constantly patrolling the Frankston & Mornington Peninsula roads. These vehicles can alert police to passing vehicles which are stolen, have false/stolen plates, are unregistered, or which are likely to be driven by unlicensed drivers.

06.01.2022 THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who helped us commemorate a very different type of National Police Remembrance Day this year. This year was different not only because of the Lockdown; but because this was the year we tragically lost four of our finest on one horrific afternoon - the worst loss of police life in a single incident in our force's 167 year history.... Despite everything else going on at the moment, it was heartening to see so many people take time out of their day to spare a moment to honour the 170 Victoria Police members that have been killed serving their community since 1853.
