25.01.2022 Good on you Ita, don't back down to those bullies!

24.01.2022 Really honoured to become Patron of Friends of the ABC, Qld today. The ABC means so much to me & our whole country. We must protect this vital national institution, which keeps us informed, entertained and tells our stories. ABC Friends

24.01.2022 Our mate Tony also recommended having a look at https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/ to see how your local MP votes with regard to ABC Australia #sandwichboardguy

24.01.2022 ABC Friends welcome the ALP commitment to guarantee that Google and Facebook should pay ABC and SBS fees for news content. This announcement by Michelle Rowland... MP, Shadow Minister for Communications, is a clear warning to the government that it cannot favour the commercial media sector ahead of public broadcasting for which government has a specific responsibility. The new code to force Google and Facebook to pay for the value they receive in distribution of Australian journalism must be extended to include the ABC and SBS. The News Media Bargaining Code is creating interest around the world because it is challenging global media control over local public interest journalism. 22.01.2022 The ABC injects about $1billion into the Australian economy every year, but WILL OUR ABC BE BAILED OUT IN THE BUDGET? The Reserve Bank says we have money to spend, so, with most Australians keen to stop the cuts, will the government bail the ABC out? 15.01.2022 Not from QLD but still very well done none the less.

15.01.2022 Wonderful! Happy Holidays.

14.01.2022 Would you trust Peter Dutton with the keys to our democracy? Right now, Dutton is quietly pushing to give his spy agency ASIO more power to: Interrogate and l...ock up journalists who refuse to reveal confidential sources Spy on and track journalists without a warrant It's a terrifying attack on journalism and our democracy which has flown under the radar. It's time to sound the alarm.

13.01.2022 The board has been considering this request for some months and has explored many options."

12.01.2022 Shelley Hadfield? this can't be good!

11.01.2022 Scott Morrison, who is paid over $500,000 a year, and thought to be worth nearly $50 million, has said he is surprised ABC staff voted against cutting their own pay packets. Why won't you take a cut Scott? Hypocrisy at its finest.

It was recognition of his courageous reportin...g on alleged SAS war crimes In Afghanistan, but also of an exceptional career in investigative reporting. 10.01.2022 After 80 years, ABC Radio today ditches the 745am flagship news bulletin. Death of an institution. Australians, city and country, depend on a common factual basis for national conversation. Ita Buttrose killing the national broadcaster for both Murdoch and Morrison. Appalling.

09.01.2022 ABC Australia have taken the honours for investigative and online journalism in Queensland, thanks to Mark Willacy's work exposing alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.

08.01.2022 Spotted in today's paper. Surely the selection criteria must include experience working in the media industry and a commitment to protect the independence of the ABC from political interference at all costs. #HandsOffOurABC

07.01.2022 ABC Staff have been praised for their commitment to public broadcasting, especially during this year's natural disaster and pandemic emergencies. Sadly, 250 of... these wonderful professionals have been made redundant by government funding decisIons which has put huge pressure on the ABC to reduce staff and programming. ABC Friends very much regrets that our national broadcaster has now lost over 1250 staff in recent years. We thank ABC staff for their dedication to all Australians and wish them well. We very much hope there will be future renewal of Australian public broadcasting when government recognises its very wide ranging benefit and value to the community. ABC Friends urges all Australians to show their appreciation. #ValueOurABC #FundOurABC #EssentialABC

06.01.2022 A sad week at the ABC Australia as many veteran journalists say their goodbyes due to forced redundancies caused by cutbacks.

05.01.2022 Shelley Lloyd you have been such a joy to listen to on ABC612. Best wishes and thank you.

04.01.2022 A free media means fearless reporting, free of political interference. It's something all Australians should cherish. Labor has always backed the ABC's integrity and independence, and we always will.

03.01.2022 Only nine percent of Australians support the government's savage cuts to the ABC, while more than 3/4 of us want the slashing of services to stop! Meanwhile, Scott Morrison is giving tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to Rupert Murdoch, because his media are "just a big, fat, biased love-letter to the government."
