18.01.2022 "I have lived Canberra my entire life and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, its such a wonderful place to grow up as it doesn’t have the hustle of other major capitals. I started at ANU in 2018 studying IT and Accounting, (probably two of the most boring courses imaginable.), and I hated it, I found it really difficult to meet new friends and involve myself in the community. After the end of the year I realised, I should do something about it and apply to live on campus.... I originally applied for B&G because I heard there was a pretty good culture there, I wasn’t accepted, instead I got picked up by Wamburun. My first thought was one of confusion, I had never heard of this place, but I was given a tour by Jamie the next day, and all the facilities seemed alright, (except the nails sticking out of the ceilings in the rooms) so I decided to accept. I have not regretted it for a minute, the second I came into my room, I was met by my SR, Shikhar and he quickly put all my worries to rest. I have made a ton of mates here and really tried to give back to the community, I am the Treasurer of CROW, organised the pool tournament and joined the inter-hall chess team, and helped Wamburun win its first of many chess championships, by going undefeated (yaaay!!!). I have loved living at Wamburun and hope the culture that we have created in this first year and hope that can improve in years to come. I chose to do Accounting because in year 11 my mate told me it was an easy class and could spend the whole time talking, it turned out I was actually pretty good at it and ended up topping it. I chose IT because it is really useful, to help get a job. I reckon I am a pretty chill person and I am always up to good to have a chat with anyone, my favourite hobbies include playing pool at our new pool table, cooking, playing video games and watching Aussie Rules, having supported the Melbourne Demons my whole life, you can usually catch me on a weekend in winter in the Aviary yelling at the TV and complaining how the umpires are always useless. If you see me around at Wamburun, say hi. I'm always up for a chat, (as its good procrastination for studying) and love meeting new people." Sebastian Dal Pozzo

17.01.2022 "I grew up in western Sydney but now have moved to Canberra to study a Bachelor of Languages at ANU. I am a first year student and french is my major and I do two minors of Mandarin Chinese, Tetum and a specialisation in Portuguese. I decided to go to ANU because it is the only university in Australia which offers Portuguese and Tetum. I am studying foreign languages because I fell in love with them in high school and could not imagine doing much else. I realised in high scho...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Tell us about yourself. Where is home? What did you study in your undergraduate? "Home for me is a difficult concept. When I was younger, my family were essentially Australian nomads, moving quite a bit before I settled in Adelaide at age 14 where I stayed until I moved here in 2016. But my heart has always belonged to Europe (ask my mother, I haven’t stopped talking about it since I was six!) which is why I moved here to study a Bachelor of European Studies. So, I guess for ...Continue reading
