25.01.2022 Yesterday I went to a coffee shop in "The Square" with a small group. We lined up at the counter waiting to be served. Two staff members were hard at work already preparing food and drinks but neither looked at us or acknowledged us. Another woman joined the queue. Still no response from the staff. Finally one staff member finished what she was doing and turned around to face us and serve us, but no smile or real connection with us as customers. Later, as we drank our coffee,... our group agreed that we would never go back there again. The shop lost our future business by their staff's lack of manners. All they had to do was turn around while they continued to complete their task, acknowledge us with a smile and let us know they would serve us in a moment. Do we treat people like that? If you're ignorant like those staff members, or rude to people in person, or with your online posts and opinions, what image do you project for Jesus? I remember years ago our youth leader, Josh Roth, preaching at a combined youth meeting at Parramatta Church and he said his title for his message was "God is ugly". I was shocked by his statement but that was his intention so we would remember the message. And Josh's message was, if you present yourself in an "ugly" mood or manner, that's how people will see your God. So remember the coffee shop staff, remember Josh's sermon title and begin today to deliberately and genuinely project a positive image of our Saviour. It could make the difference whether someone makes it to heaven or not!

25.01.2022 When we are born into this world we enter into relationship with our parents and those around us. Sometimes that relationship is dysfunctional. Toxic perhaps. And some of us are blessed to have good relationships with our family. When we are born again of the water and the Spirit we also enter into relationship: with Jesus and His Bride, the church. Our relationship with Jesus is never dysfunctional, except on our part. Sometimes we have a dysfunctional relationship with Hi...s Bride: that can be a one-way or two-way problem. But relationships can be restored. Hurts may never be forgotten, but healing can take place, if we choose. So today, reflect on your relationships, especially with Jesus, and seek restoration and healing. And if you don't yet truly know Jesus as your Bridegroom, or you have wandered off His path for your life, seek Him and ye shall find life everlasting. And that is the beginning of healing, restoration and relationship with Him...and His family.

25.01.2022 God does not need superstars that skyrocket into the sky and explode in a blaze of glory. The onlookers say, ooh, ahh, and wait for the next one, bigger better, brighter, louder... God wants plodders - people who are consistent daily, each and every day, even when no one sees, and no one applauds. People who continue despite circumstances. People who are quietly determined to overcome and receive the crown of glory awaiting them at the end of their long and sometimes arduous journey... So which one are you? Glorious skyrocket or unnoticed plodder? Remember the hare and the tortoise. The race isn't always to the swift nor the battle to the strong...

25.01.2022 Between 2 Chronicles chapters 14 and 16, we find the account of King Asa of Judah, the great grandson of King David. Asa starts off right, following the Lord and putting away idols from the land but in his later life, he neglects his relationship with God. It's sad when people start off well in their walk with Jesus but begin to neglect their relationship with Him. Many things can distract us. ... With Asa, we can't say what happened. Did he let his love for the Lord, his zeal for God's ways grow cold? Are you doing that too? Fire up your love for Jesus. Fire up your zeal. Join with us in worshipping Him together in both services this Sunday. Keep the fire burning! (Pic shows how the people in the Red Centre keep the fire burning at church )

24.01.2022 ***Warning - this post contains images of deceased persons*** God uses doers to do His will! James 1.22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.... God picks people who are already busy doing something else: Moses was tending sheep Elisha was plowing a field Gideon was threshing grain David was tending sheep Ruth was collecting grain Peter, John, James and Andrew were fishing Matthew was collecting taxes for the enemy Paul was persecuting believers, with zeal! Not all those He called were doing good, but they were Doers! What are you doing? Be a doer of the Word! (pics of 1985 construction of church at Waite Creek now Nyirripi - Bro Tiger with the shovel was one of the original group of men who called for a preacher to go to Waite Creek where there is now a well established church and community)

24.01.2022 While driving on a very busy two lane country road in wild windy weather, we came to a winding stretch of road with many large trees along the edges. A van approximately four vehicles ahead had to pull up suddenly, as did the vehicles coming in the opposite direction. A fair sized tree had come down completely blocking the road in both directions. Thankfully it did not land on any vehicles. Almost immediately, men began to emerge from trucks, vans and cars to assess the situ...ation. Some were dressed in hi-viz vests, some in business attire, some casual. Then I watched in amazement as they began dragging one end of the tree around. I thought, they will never move that tree, no way. Then, as others joined in I watched in amazement as these total strangers from different backgrounds and different journeys going in opposite directions stopped and worked together to throw the offending tree over the safety barrier. All jumped in their vehicles and we went on our way. It was over in five minutes from the tree falling until it was hoisted over the railing. Think about that. Total strangers, going in opposite directions made possible what I thought was impossible. So how much more can we achieve for Jesus in this fallen world, when are going in the same direction?

22.01.2022 Daylight savings ends in NSW next Sunday 4 April. Tip: put your clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Remember to change the one in the car too or you'll get a surprise while driving to church on Sunday! Tip: it's easy to remember how to set your clock for beginning and end of daylight savings by learning the phrase "Spring forward, Fall back", using the American term Fall for Autumn.

20.01.2022 Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. My default setting was complaint. My dad called me Moaning Minnie (the title of a very old song). He said all I ever did was moan, groan and complain. I didn't understand that as a child but hindsight has 20/20... vision At 21 years old in my workplace, my boss, a Christian woman called Coral Sutherland, surprised, no, shocked me by giving me a copy of Norman Vincent Peale's book, The Power of Positive Thinking. I didn't understand why she gave it to me but hindsight has 20/20 vision. My first pastor, Eugene Baran, taught me from 1 Thessalonians 5.18. "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." I was beginning to understand... It's so easy to complain. Especially about other people's faults. And our own circumstances are so bad that nobody understands, right? Wrong. Jesus understands. He was tempted in all points. He knows pain, rejection, unfair treatment, and death. The challenge: 24 hours without complaining. Rather, fill your mouth with thanksgiving! If you find yourself complaining, stop, give thanks, reset the clock and start your 24 hours again. Hey, don't complain! I'm doing the challenge too! Let me know how you go.

16.01.2022 A couple of months ago we noticed we had a guest in our backyard: a baby wild rabbit. It was shy and only came out of the bushes to eat grass when it thought no one was looking. It may have been small enough to have squeezed under the gate to get in but soon enough it grew too large to squeeze back out. Robyn looked for it every day and started putting carrots on the grass outside it's hideout. She would talk to it but it wouldn't come out until she had gone inside. It obvi...ously enjoyed the carrots and ate them up quickly. Apart from a few scratchings on the ground, I couldn't see any evidence of it digging anywhere. That was until Robyn noticed it hadn't eaten a carrot she placed there for it. The carrot sat there for two days and we hadn't seen the rabbit for three days. I searched the yard but couldn't find our guest rabbit. I did find a small burrow under the fence. The rabbit, like Elvis, had "left the building" and swapped the safety and daily provision of the backyard for the uncertainties and dangers of the outside world. The rabbit reminded me of those who find the safety of the Body of Christ, enjoy the bounteous provision of a loving Saviour, but then also sadly "leave the building". It is far better for us to live in the boundaries set down by the Lord within the Body ofChrist, than to do do our "own thing" in the world. Unlike the rabbit, I intend to stay where I enjoy the Lord's provision and protection. How about you?

12.01.2022 When we adopted our 42 kilo Bull Arab dog, Ralff, we wanted to ensure that such a large dog was going to be sociable with man and beast alike so we enrolled him in dog training. Ralff was not particularly interested in learning to heel, stay, walk etc. He tolerated it but after a while just flopped down and indicated he was finished. But he did learn to socialise. One day I was walking him around our suburb for exercise when a little Fox Terrier sprinted out of a yard barki...ng madly, came up behind us, and bit Ralff on the back leg. Ralff had a look at the Foxy but just kept walking with me. I was somewhat surprised that he didn't react. He had a "right" to react when he was attacked. The Foxy's owner told me I had a well-trained dog. I just replied with a smile, "Just as well for you mate." Ralff was able to kill that tiny dog with a single bite if he chose to do so. And it's not that Ralff was a "scaredy-dog". I know that he wasn't because he was attacked by a German Shepherd at training and he held his own against it. It was a horrible fight and Ralff had a few wounds and a lot of blood over his nice white fur. But they both walked away as if nothing had happened. Btw I never went back to dog training because it was the leader's German Shepherd that started the fight. Other people told me that the dog did this often. Best to avoid dogs and owners that want to fight. My point? Some fights are not worth pursuing. You just ignore the antagonist just like Ralff did that day with the Foxy. Invest your energy in prayer time instead and let the Lord fight your battles. "Coincidentally" from my personal daily reading today ..... 2 Ch 20:14-15 Then upon Jahaziel ... came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; (15) And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's

11.01.2022 "God can't see me now." So said our little grandson as my wife tucked him into bed and he pulled the covers over his head. "Yes, God can still see you", she rep...lied. "God can see you everywhere." Adam and Eve tried to hide from God in the bushes. They even invented camouflage gear by sticking leaves on themselves. It didn't work. Jonah tried to run from God but he couldn't hide. Not even in the belly of a great sea creature. It didn't work either. When Jesus died, the veil in the temple ripped from top to bottom, thus signifying the way was open to God for all. Yet we hide still. Or try. Yes, even believers can try to hide behind a mask. They hide behind pain, fear, anger, resentment, unforgiveness, pride, lust, superiority, doctrine and much more. We would do well to lay down the mask and take off the camouflage gear. It doesn't work. God still sees. All the mask can serve to do is to hinder God's will for your life and to alienate you from your brothers and sisters in Christ. So take off the mask, the veil, and be freed to be the man or woman of God that He has called you to be. God sees that too!

11.01.2022 Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Years ago I knew a family that had 8 children. Mum and Dad were faithful believers. They were always in church every Sunday with their children.... They decided to build a new house themselves, as Dad was a builder by trade. He worked in his building occupation from Mon-Fri and then built his own house week by week on Saturday only. The neighbour also was building his own house but worked Saturday and Sunday on it. His priority was the house, not the Lord. My friends finished their house first and gave glory to the Lord for blessing them for being faithful and putting Him first. This has always been my desire too. Take care of the Lord's business and He will take care of yours... How about you?

10.01.2022 Lying in bed early this morning just after I woke up and while it was still dark, I suddenly realised I had woken up thinking about a difficult situation I was facing. I was going over and over all the scenarios in the drama presently going on. At that point of realisation I recognised the situation was draining all my emotional and spiritual energy and leaving me feeling flat and empty. I realised I needed to get out of that mode for my health and well-being. Philippians 4.8... has long been one of my favourite Bible verses. In it Paul tells us to focus our minds on the good, holy, and wholesome matters of life. That's not to say we should entirely disregard the bad or difficult things that happen. It just means we should pray about them and then leave them with Jesus and then return to thinking on the beautiful things Jesus has done for us. At that point of realisation, it was like a switch flipping off in my brain and I stopped being consumed by the problem, left it with Jesus, and wrote this short note to you to encourage you to allow the God of peace to be with you (Philippians 4.9) Over to you...your turn to do the same...

02.01.2022 My friend in the USA, Rev Arlo Moelenpah, has a Creation based ministry called DoingGood.org. He has a lot of resources on that site to help you in your walk with Jesus and in sharing the Gospel with others. His motto comes from Act 10.38. "Jesus went about doing good, and we should do the same".... How true. If you haven't already started doing good, how about beginning today

01.01.2022 If this current world crisis has said anything to the believer, it must be that our confidence cannot be in things, events, places, or even people: our trust must be in Jesus, for He cannot fail. Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
