25.01.2022 I can’t wait to get back on the boards for a good bit of track racing this Friday night! After being put on hold when COVID-19 hit Adelaide, @adelaidetrackleague is thankfully able to launch this week! My good friends at @cyclingsouthaus have been pouring a lot of hours into bringing a fun, exciting atmosphere to some local track racing. I had the pleasure of providing some images for their promotional packages and I’ll be spending my Friday night jumping between racing arou...nd the velodrome and then hopping behind the lens to capture some of the excitement! If you’re interested in racing, come down and have some fun! There’s a mix of endurance and sprint events and multiple grades so there’s an option for everyone. And if you don’t feel like racing but are in Adelaide, come down for the party vibes and spectate. Tickets are $5 and there’ll be a bar, multiple delicious food trucks and a DJ to keep everything pumpin’. And if you’re not local and can’t come down, there’s going to be a live stream of the racing that you’ll be able to access. So keep your eyes peeled to the Adelaide Track League Instagram for more info on that. Hopefully I’ll see some friendly faces in the stands! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

24.01.2022 The best thing about the @cyclingsouthaus Copper Coast Cup? Back to back racing! Okay, maybe it’s not the best bit, but it’s a good bit for sure. After tackling the dusty back roads of Wallaroo, the racing heads to Moonta for a fast and furious crit on the footsteps of a really cool church. The racing was fast, as expected and I surprisingly managed to avoid sunburn, which I was personally quite proud of. Looking forward to another race this Sunday out at a nearby Motorsport complex. The wiiiiiide track is going to be weird to work with, but I’m hoping I can get something out of it. @ Moonta, South Australia

23.01.2022 Good to be back on the sunrise game with ol’ mate @hellcomeshome

22.01.2022 My sunrise game is going particularly well this week. @ Mt Osmond Centre Track

21.01.2022 Saturday saw me out in the Adelaide hills for a very long day of running around a rad new course for the State Road Champs. With impending rain forecast almost all week, the big cloud mood that we got instead was a welcome alternative. Thanks to the gang at @cyclingsouthaus for having me again! @ Mypolonga, South Australia, Australia

20.01.2022 Spent my Sunday soaking up some Adelaide countryside while zooming around in the gale force winds and sporadic rain showers to capture the @cyclingaustralia Macclesfield road race. The weather was all over the place but thankfully there were some really warming patches of sun throughout the day that I made sure to capture, but also stand in to stop myself from freezing! @ Macclesfield, South Australia

20.01.2022 Popped out for a quick little location and lighting test last night for a shoot this evening with a few pals. Hopefully I’m treated to the same smashing sunset! @ Mt Osmond Centre Track

20.01.2022 Nice to sneak out for one last road ride of 2020 with the pals. Now to go and clean the house and pack my bike like I’ve been neglecting. Very much looking forward to hoping over to Tassie to reunite myself with @caztheturtle and spend a nice week riding around @maydenabikepark and @bluederby. Happy holidays y’all! @ Pound Road

19.01.2022 Well, that was probably my last ride outside with friends again for a little bit so thankfully @hellcomeshome and I were treated to a pretty nice sunrise and a beaut view over our little city. @ Horsnell Gully Conservation Park

19.01.2022 Jumping back into updating my @exposure with a bunch of stories that I never got around to giving any proper screen time last year. Looking back to July 2019 for Round 3 of the @gravityenduro_sa series. I borderline hate riding at Eagle MTB park but flicking through them again, I probably like my photos from here the most of all the other parks that were raced at last year. Check the link in my bio to go and scroll through the full post! As always, I recommend a computer screen over your phone! @ Eagle Mountain Bike Park

19.01.2022 And with Sunday’s hot, sunny and dusty cross race, we bid farewell to our short and strange local cyclocross series for the year. This is usually the point where I would get my stoke, bundle it up and flick it over my friends in the Northern Hemisphere. Sadly, most of them won’t get a CX season this year. While our season may have been smaller than usual, I’m very grateful for the races @portadelaidecccx was able to give us. Looking forward to hopefully getting to share a Cross season globally next year! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

18.01.2022 Having all this racing crammed in at once, really took me back to January. It’s bizarre to think that the @tourdownunder was only 8 months ago. While I had a blast shooting for @wmncycling and @fdj_naqui_fut during the Women’s race, there were a lot of moments I captured that never saw the light and that I forgot about. It was nice to roll back through and relive those busy days once more. I’m not sure in what capacity the race will exist in next year, but sadly I’m petty confident we won’t see the normal influx of international teams able to make the journey down. Hopefully life returns to some facet of normality before long and maybe I can start planning taking myself to a race somewhere else! @ Adelaide, South Australia

18.01.2022 Going to be playing catch up for few days with photos after such a busy weekend of racing and shooting! Friday night finally saw the first round of @adelaidetrackleague hit the Adelaide Superdrome. I haven’t raced track in probably 5 or 6 years so I jumped at the opportunity to smash around the boards again. Shockingly, racing a busy schedule and trying to photograph the other races in between was quite a handful but stoked to walk away with some snaps and good few races under my belt. Big congrats to @cyclingsouthaus for putting on such a fun event! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

17.01.2022 #TrackIsBack couldn’t be more appropriate! After a ripper round 1, @adelaidetrackleague is coming back to the Adelaide Superdrome for round 2. The party vibes from the first round were too good so I’m super excited to race and shoot again on Friday night! If you’re in Adelaide you’d be silly not to come down for a heckle and some snacks and beverages as tickets are only $5! And for all you interstate/international friends, there’ll be a live stream happening again! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

15.01.2022 I spent almost 9 hours in the baking sun, with nowhere to hide and I somehow avoided getting sunburnt. I’m chalking it all down to my @goodsport_magazine x @nocomplyco long sleeve tee and my @efprocycling Saharah hat. This is truly groundbreaking stuff. But, to the point I guess: here’s some more photos of some more bicycle racing. Unlike most of the other races of this year’s @cyclingsuperseries, round 7 featured almost exclusively hills which was probably a rude shock to most of the riders. A small break this weekend before the second last round back in Unley for more tree climbing fun. @ Gawler, South Australia

15.01.2022 Look, I’ll be honest, driving 70 minutes for an XCO race at a bunch of trails you’ve never ridden before, only to slice your tyre two laps in and have to DNF kinda sucks, but it did give me the opportunity to take some extra snaps of the racing which was nice! Thanks to @adelaidemtbclub for putting on another sweet event! @ Kinchina, South Australia, Australia

15.01.2022 Another double-whammy weekend of some track racing on Friday night, followed by some cyclocross racing on Sunday afternoon. If you’re ever searching for a fun way to absolutely roast yourself, this is it. Big ups to @adelaidetrackleague for throwing us another sweet track party. Hopefully they can put on some more in a time where all our interstate friends can come and join rather than having to settle for the live stream. @ Adelaide Super-Drome

13.01.2022 Some recent work for the crew over at @thepedla is now live. A few weeks ago, a few pals and I loaded up our CX bikes, hoped on a train and took it to the end of the line. We jumped off and went for a little adventure down the coast, onto the beaches and then into the hills via some wonderful gravel roads. Thanks to @sopphhiiieee @tessa.p.m @luke_finny & @mattbird for being excellent riding company and a breeze to shoot and thanks to @marcin_wojcik for taking me onboard for the project. I really love these shoots from the bike as I get to enjoy the adventure as well as capture it. @ Willunga, South Australia

12.01.2022 Flicking back through old Dropbox folders and realising that I do own a very lovely little Contax 35mm camera and that shooting with it was heaps of fun and the reward of getting a roll back and flicking through memories was one of the best things. Posting this in the hope that it inspires me to literally blow the dust off it and shoot some rolls again. @ Somewhere out in the Middle of Nowhere

10.01.2022 What an absolutely lovely morning to ride bikes outside. It’s been a while, and perhaps this assisted in the many joyous feelings. Not even having to wake up at 5am after getting way too comfortable with sleeping in could ruin it! @ Norton Summit, South Australia

08.01.2022 Had been craving a nice gravel ride through the hills and this morning absolutely quenched my thirst! @ Belair National Park

08.01.2022 I think my favourite thing about the flurry of end-of-year photo comps that pop up within the cycling sphere, is it’s always the perfect excuse to look back through my year and relive a whole bunch of memories I had neglected. It’s always challenging to try and encapsulate 12 months in 3 images, but the memories are always worth it. These were my selections for the @strava Year In Sport competition. Given the lack of ‘normality’ for cycling photography from a traditional sens...e, the brief was to share a image for ‘road’, ‘dirt’ and ‘portrait’ that portrayed your year. Dirt - just before our first lockdown back in April, I went out on a gravel adventure with a good bunch of friends which would turn out to be my last big adventure for most of the year. I remember us all on the train to the start of the loop, talking about COVID and what we thought the world was going to be like. I didn’t expect that I would be looking back fondly on the stitch ups in that ride for so many months. Portrait - 2020 kicked off about as normal as always as the Tour Down Under Circus rolled through Adelaide and I once again got to follow the women’s race around - which is honestly one of my favourite things every year. Pictured, @taylerwiles readies herself before another hot and fast stage. Sadly the WTDU won’t be quite the same this year and I’m honestly pretty bummed about it. Road - the normality that I usually have with morning rides vanished for a lot of this year and I struggled to find the groove again. However when ever I did manage to get out, the sunrises all seemed sweeter, as I wasn’t really sure how many I’d be getting to see, so I made sure to soak all of them up with extra awe. I hope you all got something out of your year in sport, despite the hurdles it may have included. Looking forward to another weird year in sport for 2021. @ Adelaide, South Australia

07.01.2022 Dusty gravel roads. Big clear blue skies. Open rolling farmland. This weekend saw another edition of the @cyclingsouthaus Copper Coast Cup. Saturday played host to the ever popular Wallaroo road race, which takes in a selection of gravel roads around the area. I do love a good bit of peloton chasing - trying to pick which random gravel back road is going to be the best shortcut for me to beat the bunch to the next photo spot! @ Wallaroo, South Australia

07.01.2022 After driving for 40 minutes to the trails to only realise I had forgotten to put my helmet in the car, I had resigned myself to a morning spent sitting in the car while my friends went riding. Luckily for me, one of said friends had a spare helmet in their car! So glad I got to get out and enjoy the sunshine and some beautiful dirt. @ Kersbrook MTB Trails

06.01.2022 Pat and I were spoilt with cotton candy skies this morning to distract us from it being 3. @ Mt Osmond Centre Track

04.01.2022 I would be lying if I said shooting round 5 of the @cyclingsouthaus @cyclingsuperseries at @thebendmotorsportpark was easy. Because surprise surprise, it wasn’t. It didn’t suit my shooting style at all. I would have been over the moon if the whole race was staged entirely within pit lane, but that’s an absolute absurd request so let’s just pretend I didn’t ask for that. I’m looking forward to a weekend off shooting this week. I could feel myself starting to dislike almost every photo I took due to the monotonous feelings creeping in. I need to be thankful that I have any racing at all to shoot though. So I’m going to enjoy a weekend of bike riding and come back to round 6 full of energy and fresh eyes! @ The Bend Motorsport Park

04.01.2022 Sat on these ones for probably a little too long but hey, sometimes life requires more bandwidth than photo sets. Regardless, had a good ol’ time down at Aldinga Beach with @cyclingsuperseries again last weekend. Another grey day couldn’t dampen my spirits! The Super Series is aaaallllllmost over with another round tomorrow, this time on a freshly built link road out North. Closed to traffic and featuring a handful of short but spicy bergs, it should provide quite a different energy to Aldinga. @ Aldinga Beach

03.01.2022 After struggling to find a wheel to make my CX bike work on the trainer (yet another reason why I wish we had a direct-drive @wahoofitnessofficial trainer) @caztheturtle got fed up of my complaining and whipped me up a ripper outer suburban loop for me to take on a solo adventure. I must say, she’s pretty good at this! I got too many tunnels to count, beautiful gravel trails through a seemingly never-ending wetland, windy paths along a river and a super fun little single track section to finish things off. Quite a nice way to round out the weekend! @ Greenfields Wetland

02.01.2022 After sitting in the house, for almost a month since I took it out of the box and put it together, I finally got to take my new bike out for a ride! Damn, bouncy bikes are fun. Having come from a rigid single-speed into a hardtail, this double serving of squish is going to take some getting used to but I’m already hitting jumps that I never would have dreamed of riding off on my hardtail. Looking forward to getting acquainted with it some more over the coming months! Thanks for making a rad bike @konabikes! @ Kersbrook MTB Trails

01.01.2022 Super Series has returned! Yesterday was round 1 of this year’s Super Series. The weather forecast had been looking terrible all week, but if you ask the first half of the day’s racers, they’ll recount blue skies and melting sunshine! Unfortunately, we couldn’t escape the rain like last year and the wind kicked up for the Elite Women’s race and then the rain started to fall for the Men. This made the trees quite slippery and ruined any further attempts I made to climb trees to try and find new angles. Thanks again to @cyclingsouthaus for having me again, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series to come. @ Pakapakanthi parkrun

01.01.2022 Last weekend was chock full of State Champs! After the State Road champs on Saturday, we got to back it up with CX State Champs on the Sunday (I heard rumours of some people even attempting to do both the TT Champs and then CX on the same day). Thanks to @portadelaidecccx for delivery a true pain fest of a course which I swear was 80% deep mulch. My legs still hurt. @ Adelaide High School

01.01.2022 Well I’m finally back up to speed after a busy weekend of racing and shooting. After Friday night’s track extravaganza, we got to double down with some dusty cross in the park thanks to @portadelaidecccx. While I’m unsure if this will be the last of our racing for a while, as COVID has seemingly snuck back in to Adelaide, I’ve been very grateful for what we had the chance to enjoy. Fingers crossed we get things under control and can have our State Championships next weekend! @ Bonython Park
