21.01.2022 Make your voice heard!

20.01.2022 Week 5 of Family Food Patch finished. Can't believe graduation is next week already! Had great workshops from the group today on drinks, getting kids involved and fussy eating. Lots of practical activities and brain storms. Morning tea was an exploration of less familiar fruits to some of us - exploring the textures, smells, tastes, visual appeal of dragon fruit, lychees, star fruit, papaya, pomegranate, candy melon and passion fruit. We learnt about the ripeness and flavour...s when picked at the perfect time. Lunch was a colour-fest of kebabs with marinaded chicken, haloumi, sweet chilli tofu and a rainbow of veggies. Delicious with fritters and salad leaves. We also talked about eating together with families in different cultures. Marta shared a photograph of a typical Ethiopian style meal where the food is presented beautifully in a large share platter that everyone collectively eats from. A real food fellowship. #vegitup, #getfruity See more

20.01.2022 Family Food Patch and Tasmanian School Canteen Association have collaborated through their Well Fed Tasmania food truck to celebrate Move Well Eat Well Primary School Award Program and Move Well Eat Well Early Childhood Award Program all over Tasmania in the past couple of years - from St Helens to Wynyard, Bagdad to George Town, Launceston to Glenorchy and more. Julie and I have had heaps of fun sharing colourful, delicious snacks with children and families and encouraging active play

20.01.2022 How fun is this for a festive season activity!

17.01.2022 Chloe shares an important life lesson for us all .

16.01.2022 Beautiful day to hang out with this amazing bunch and brain storm all things 'active'. Great ideas about balancing life to eat well, move more, sit less and sleep better! Fun in the sunshine having a go at the obstacle course and practising our own movement skills - skipping, hopping, throwing and balancing. #getactive

12.01.2022 We were just talking about gender and potential barriers to physical activity in our Family Food Patch training last week -navigating hormonal and body changes and building self confidence. This is a great way to share your voice and make a difference.

12.01.2022 Getting ready for our Sunshine Carol's event at St David's Park this Sunday. Lots of active play, craft, rock and shell painting and a scavenger hunt to keep you on your toes as you explore the garden

11.01.2022 Family Food Patch training is about learning together, sharing and building relationships and confidence. It is also about fun and remembering to hold on to the joy of childhood! Susan and Morgan show us how it's done and embrace the spirit in our physical activity session

08.01.2022 Our Family Food Patch training spots can be like gold dust. Big heads up that our NEXT training (after Ravenswood) will be in Term 2 next year at Jordan River Service Inc - Gagebrook Community Centre. We will be gathering expressions of interest over the coming months and then allocate the 12 spots by early March. But don't snooze on it...ask for an EOI form now and you will be registered to the short list.

01.01.2022 A colourful day of food with Tasmanian School Canteen Association dip recipes for morning tea - white bean, carrot and beetroot - followed by palaak paneer with veg stir fry and naan bread. Delish! Great information from Kate about the differences with intolerances and allergies, then brainstorming and sharing the minefield of label reading. Next week we workshop drinks, fussy eating and getting children involved!
