25.01.2022 School goes back full-time next week parents and children everywhere are no doubt rejoicing at that! Our challenge for you this weekend is to reflect on what you’ve experienced while our lives have been restricted get the art and craft kit out (which we're sure is well used!), and make a tribute to the things your family have enjoyed and the lessons you have all learned! It’s something your children can look back upon when they grow up and remember this unique time in history

25.01.2022 Its feels like the kids only just went back to full time classes, but can you believe it we’re only 2 weeks out from school holidays! If you haven’t already, be sure to reach out to your ex sometime this week and confirm you’re both on the same page about holiday plans and the changeover time and location.

25.01.2022 Happy Global Day of Parents! In family law, being a parent doesn’t always mean a child’s biological Mum or Dad if you are a person who is concerned with the care, welfare or development of a child then you may fall into the scope of being an important figure in the child’s life. You might be a step-parent, Uncle or mum’s best friend, but taking up the role of an adult influence in a child’s life. In light of today, we wanted to take a moment to thank all parents, whether bio or not, for doing a great jobs and hope you have a wonderful day!

25.01.2022 Even in a cold snap, Antonella Sanderson has come into our office to give you an update on what’s happening in family law this week and how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the family law system. That puffy jacket looks warm! Stay safe everyone, and have a lovely weekend

25.01.2022 We understand single parenting and staying at home can be a challenging combination. One of the biggest concerns is the unfortunate need to keep away from our loved ones, especially grandparents. Luckily there are creative people out there who have thought of an ingenious way to stay in touch with your loved ones! We have your iso-activity for this weekend sorted keep your little ones busy by making their very own Mail-a-Hug! Check out the easy to follow pi...cture instructions below. Your children can create a cut-out hug and decorate it themselves to send to Grandma, Pop, Uncle John and Aunty Jane. If your ex is living interstate and the children can’t visit them under the new restrictions, then this would be a great chance to surprise them too! This is a fun and creative way to stay connected.

25.01.2022 Today marks World Environment Day! This is a UN initiative to raise awareness about urgent issues impacting our global environment from sustainable consumption to threatened species to global warming. Our global community has faced many challenges over the past 3 months or so, and you may not have seen the natural wonders happening across the globe during the pandemic. These wonders include that for the first time in 30 years the Himalayas are visible from Punjab and V...enice canals are clear. But closer to home there are still challenges to be faced. Due to the virus, cafes and food outlets have increased their one-use plastic/packaging for the safety of customers. Our challenge for your family this weekend is to make conscious choices to help the environment! For us at Family Law Matters, one of our goals is to recycle, reduce and reuse. Small conscious changes are better than none at all we encourage you to speak with your kids this weekend and explain that your choices matter and it’s possible to be imperfectly sustainable

24.01.2022 One week left of Term 1! Are you organised for the Easter holidays? Make sure you and your ex are on the same page if you’re planning on sharing the long weekend.

24.01.2022 In these challenging times, you don’t have to look far to find incredible examples of human kindness and community spirit. Our local Family Relationship Centre at Caringbah, Interrelate, is providing FREE services to help support separated families during this time. They are providing FREE mediation (Family Dispute Resolution), Children’s Contact Service, domestic and family violence support (including male victim support) and counselling services via chat, video conferencin...g and phone. Interrelate have your back! We refer almost every person who walks through our doors to Interrelate for assistance at separation and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity and kindness to the single parent community in this crazy COVID time.

24.01.2022 In this cold weather, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut or feel low on energy. Our challenge for you this weekend is to take advantage of the weather warming up and get out in nature! Hop on the ferry to Bundeena, and follow the signs for the Jibbon Aboriginal Carvings Walk. It’s a 3 hour walk on relatively flat land, perfect for this not too hot, not too cold weather. Enjoy some fresh air and get moving you’ll feel better

24.01.2022 Earth Hour aims to raise awareness about the impact of climate change on our planet. This summer Australia felt the impact of climate change more than ever, and we should not forget it both for those who suffered from the fires and the tragedy they are still facing, but also to focus on what we can do to help reduce our impact moving forward. Earth Hour is a great chance to spend quality screen-free time with your kids, while teaching them about climate change! With all t...his self-isolation, this is a great time to do something different and break the routine. See the link below for some fun electricity-free family bonding ideas If you don’t have the kids on Saturday night, we encourage you to take time this week to enjoy a belated Earth Hour! https://www.familylawmatters.com.au/earth-hour-2019/

23.01.2022 We’re not being as social as usual these days, and it has been difficult. It’s important to remember the impact social distancing has on our children. Children are resilient, but if they’re facing unexpected changes in their routine such as changes to schooling routines, less time with friends, more time inside and two new homes, this can be a lot for them to take in! We encourage you to take a moment to consider whether your child may benefit from a support program, or to speak with a counsellor. Interrelate at Caringbah offers a myriad of great programs for children! For example Seasons For Growth which is a helpful program for children aged 6 to 12 years! If you're interested, you can reach out to Interrelate on 1300 473 528.

21.01.2022 Divorce is like photography because ... you learn to appreciate there’s beauty before the storm. On my recent trip to Ballina, I took a walk down to the beach ...just before a storm swept through. It was a reminder that grey skies come, and grey skies go. Don’t let the grey skies of your separation cloud you from appreciating the beautiful parts of you. #familylawmatters #survivingseparation #familylaw #separation #divorce #shirelawyers #cronullalawyers #ballina
