25.01.2022 The Dutch government is considering allowing euthanasia for terminally-ill children aged one to 12 years old. Children in the Netherlands can request euthanasia from the age of 12 and doctors are allowed to provide euthanasia to babies up to one year old in limited circumstances.

24.01.2022 The Supreme Court placed religious freedom before pandemic precautions Wednesday night, temporarily blocking recent rules in New York that severely restricted gatherings at houses of worship in areas hit hardest by COVID-19. The court's new, more conservative majority ruled 5-4 that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's limits on churches, synagogues and other houses of worship to 10 or 25 worshipers in hard-hit regions appeared to violate the First Amendment's Free Exercise Clause. "Even in a pandemic, the Constitution cannot be put away and forgotten," the court's unsigned majority opinion said. "The restrictions at issue here, by effectively barring many from attending religious services, strike at the very heart of the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious liberty."

22.01.2022 The Morrison Government has fired off a missive to ABC Chair Ita Buttrose with a litany of complaints about the Four Corners program that delved into the private lives of Cabinet ministers. The letter from Communications Minister Paul Fletcher explosively accuses the ABC Board of failing to meet its duty to ensure the broadcast of accurate and impartial news and information according to recognised standards of objective journalism. Mr Fletcher’s letter to Ms Buttrose ques...tions how the ABC complied with its duty of impartiality by only investigating the private lives of Liberal Party politicians and not delving into relationships involving Labor, Green or independent politicians. The letter formally demands the ABC Board answer why it felt it was newsworthy to broadcast a story on the personal lives of politicians at all.

21.01.2022 A funeral celebrant was reprimanded earlier this week by a local council for allowing a grieving family to quietly recite the Lord’s Prayer during a funeral service. Now, following a U-turn from the council, the crematorium has once again been allowed to permit mourners to say the Lord’s prayer after coronavirus regulations were ‘clarified’.

21.01.2022 CHRIS UHLMANN: There is now a witch hunt afoot in Tasmania. The witch is Liberal Senator Claire Chandler. On July 17 she wrongspoke in the pages of The Mercury: You don’t have to be a bigot to recognise the differences between the male and female sexes and understand why women’s sports, single-sex change rooms and toilets are important. This elicited a response from an unnamed Hobart man who emailed the senator confronting her crimethink. The senator doubled down: I do und...erstand the difference between sex and gender. That’s why I’ve made the point in my article that women’s toilets and women’s change rooms are designed for people of the female sex (women) and should remain that way. First, Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Commission, and all such commissions, have tyranny built into their design. It is meant to be a mediation service and often is but can also be advocate, prosecutor, judge and jury in one. This invites quasi-judicial bodies to become star chambers. They now deny a keystone democratic right of a fair hearing before an impartial tribunal. The right to freely complain about this injustice has also been removed by law. Second, the senator is expressing what was, until recently, a pretty conventional worldview. What has changed is a new protected group has evolved, the trans community, whose advocates demand that those who self-nominate a gender must be accepted as male or female. Laws are being made about this so debate is demanded, starting with when should someone be considered to have transitioned? Is it after reassignment surgery or just on the strength of nominating the change? This is no small difference and both are claimed.

20.01.2022 California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation over the weekend allowing gender-confused convicts to be incarcerated on the basis of their claimed gender identity rather than their actual biological sex.

20.01.2022 You may not know this about me, but I once totally doubted God and the truthfulness of Christ’s deity. In fact, right after college, I set out to prove that the Bible is nothing more than a collection of distorted and unreliable records of historical and mythical events. Simply put, if I could prove that the Bible wasn’t a reliable document of history, then I could show that everything it says about God and the Christian faith is in question.... I really wanted to do that. Because God’s existence did not fit with how I saw the world. Having absolutely no doubts that my worldview was correct, I assumed that discrediting God and the Bible was going to be delightfully easy. So I travelled all over Europe, seeking out historical manuscripts and knowledgeable scholars to not only validate my view but to do so beyond any shadow of doubt. Here’s the egg-on-my-face: eventually I had to admit that the evidence for Christ being exactly who He said He is, was overwhelming. I couldn’t deny or ignore it. I had to adjust my worldview to align with this truth.

19.01.2022 Journo Chris Uhlmann, the Toast of Teardrop Twitter, The Sydney Morning Herald, Wednesday: There is now a witch hunt afoot in Tasmania. The witch is Liberal senator Claire Chandler she wrongspoke in the pages of The Mercury: You don’t have to be a bigot to recognise the differences between the male and female sexes and understand why women’s sports, single-sex change rooms and toilets are important. Matthew Denholm, The Australian, Sunday:... (Chandler) and her supporters have been warned they could be prosecuted for insulting the state’s anti-discrimination commissioner in a rapidly escalating war over free speech in the transgender debate. Equal Opportunity Tasmania, in an email sent to (Chandler) suggests she could face prosecution for hindering and insulting the anti-discrimination commissioner. The row followed Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Sarah Bolt’s decision to accept a complaint against Senator Chandler over a statement emailed to a constituent that read: Women’s sport, women’s toilets and women’s changing rooms are designed for the female sex and should remain that way. More Uhlmann: Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Commission, and all such commissions, have tyranny built into their design. That notorious Chandler article, Hobart Mercury, July 17: An open letter signed by 150 writers and academics in defence of free speech offers a glimmer of hope that we can put a stop to the anti-democratic so-called cancel culture that has taken root The letter in Harper’s Magazine represents overdue acknowledgment from those who have built careers in arts and academia that freedom of speech is being effectively curtailed in these arenas by a culture of public shaming that aims to take away the livelihoods and platforms of those seen to have the wrong views.

19.01.2022 CANCEL CULTURE: Facebook removed a video featuring former President Donald Trump, a company spokesperson confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday, citing the former president’s indefinite suspension from the platform. The removal tests just how far Facebook is willing to interpret its suspension, which followed the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The video featuring Trump was posted by his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who was interviewing the former president. ... Lara Trump had teased the interview in an Instagram photo of the sit-down on Tuesday.

19.01.2022 A celebrant has been reprimanded by a local council for allowing a grieving family to quietly recite the Lord’s Prayer during a funeral service. Alison Davies, 53, from Bridgend, South Wales, was left in tears after she was told she was breaking Welsh government Covid rules for allowing ‘chanting’ during a funeral she was conducting at Coychurch Crematorium. Mrs Davies said the family of a 94-year-old grandmother whose funeral she was conducting this week had asked her to end the service with the Lord’s Prayer the quintessential Christian prayer that Jesus taught his disciples when they asked him how they should pray.

17.01.2022 Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Jane Flemming has declared transgender athletes should be banned from competing in female sport on safety grounds. The 55-year-old retired track and field champion has weighed into the divisive issue as several sporting codes, including rugby, face calls to restrict female sport to competitors born as girls. The federal Sex Discrimination Act however bans gender or gender identity-based discrimination.... Flemming, who represented Australia at three Commonwealth and two Olympic games during the late 1980s and early 1990s, said transgender athletes were a safety risk to female competitors. 'The difficulty is that for the human species that's been born biological male, if they go through puberty in particular, they have, absolutely, have some physiological advantages,' she told the ABC's 7.30 program. 'Whether it is bone strength or extra capillarisation or larger muscle bulk, but then there are other aspects of that as well, not only does that affect performance but there is a health or a danger aspect.'

17.01.2022 VICTORY: A discrimination complaint against Tasmanian Senator Claire Chandler over her comments on female change rooms and transgender women has been dropped. The complainant contacted Equal Opportunity Tasmania today to withdraw the complaint, after a conciliation hearing scheduled for yesterday was cancelled. Senator Chandler had declined to sign a confidentiality agreement for the meeting and it was cancelled by the Equal Opportunity Commission.... Senator Chandler said she learnt the complaint had been dropped today via the media. I am both relieved at this outcome and furious at the abuse of process which has occurred, she said. But she said it leaves the broader community in legal limbo around what statements members of the public can make about sex-based rights. She called on the Commissioner to clarify that Tasmanians are able to discuss the reality of biological sex and advocate for sex-based rights. If this does not occur, there will continue to be a chilling effect on free speech in Tasmania, Senator Chandler said.

16.01.2022 Child protection authorities have yet to give their backing to hormone treatment for a transgender-identifying teenager taken into state care after parents resisted the irreversible medical intervention. It is believed to be the first Australian case of a minor put under a protection order because the parents were judged abusive and potentially harmful for failing to embrace their child’s self-declared trans gender identity and wish for cross-sex hormones. The teenager, w...ho was born a girl and taken from the family home by police at the age of 15 last year after reportedly discussing suicide online, cannot be identified for legal reasons, and The Australian has not reported the state where the case is unfolding. The parents deny any abuse and favour non-invasive psychotherapy for their child, saying they believe factors other than gender including a loss of friends, lack of social skills and a difficult start to puberty may explain the mental and emotional distress. The mother said she belatedly became aware after authorities intervened that the teenager had been active on social media platforms popular for up-beat accounts of gender transition. In the Family Court on Tuesday, the teenager, now 17, is expected to seek an interim order allowing treatment with hormone drugs to go ahead, with the application handled by an independent children’s lawyer and funded by state legal aid. It is the first known case in which the judges are being asked to enable this life-altering medical treatment for the bodily distress of gender dysphoria when both parents are opposed.

15.01.2022 Champion rugby player Israel Folau has had a tumultuous 19 months. In April last year on his personal Instagram account, he posted a blunt paraphrase of two verses in the Apostle Paul’s first letter to Christians in the Greek city of Corinth. It was a grim warning to believers in that large and prosperous city, known for its temple prostitutes, drunkenness and promiscuity a culture that may ring a few bells today. But there is hope, as Paul goes on in verse 11: And that is ...what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Folau also offered hope. In his Instagram post, he said: Those that are living in Sin will end up in Hell unless you repent. Jesus Christ loves you and is giving you time to turn away from your sin and come to him. Folau had warned of Hell. And all hell broke loose.

13.01.2022 Don't forget to sign the FamilyVoice open letter to LotteryWest! ... A whistleblower from Western Australian government-owned Lotterywest says the group could lose community support and be vulnerable to sale under a future government after its controversial rejection of a grant to Margaret Court’s Victory Life church.... Crispin Rovere quit as a senior lotteries policy officer at Lotterywest last week in protest at what he said was an increasingly unethical and unlawful approach to allocating community grants. A grant application to allow Mrs Court’s Victory Life church to purchase a refrigerated truck to distribute food to Perth’s homeless and disadvantaged was rejected by Lotterywest this year. Chief executive Susan Hunt said the decision was made due to Mrs Court’s opposition to same-sex marriage not aligning with Lotterywest’s strong commitment to inclusion and diversity. Mr Rovere, told The Australian he was concerned the controversy could alienate customers, given Lotterywest’s customer base was weighted towards older, conservative demographics. The shift could also dent the group’s community standing and potentially boost the case for a future government to sell off the last remaining government-owned lottery in Australia. My main fear is once we prove ourselves to be a partisan weapon, then we will get the backlash from the large segments of the community that don’t agree with that world view, he said. We will cease to have that aura of sanctity that both sides of politics have respected for many, many years.

13.01.2022 President Donald Trump called out Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden for saying that black lives matter, while failing to protect the most vulnerable black lives of all, unborn children. During remarks in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, Trump said that Democrats support the unlimited abortion of black children right up until the ninth month of pregnancy. According to the latest numbers published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 38 percent o...f abortions in 2016 were procured by black women. At the same time, just under 15 percent of the population in the United States is black. The CDC notes that black women had both the highest abortion rate (25.1 abortions per 1,000 women ages 1544 years) and the highest abortion ratio (401 abortions per 1,000 live births). While the abortion numbers among black women decreased in years past, black women still account for the largest portion of overall abortions. As observed by Live Action, Black abortions (236,919 estimated) outnumbered the top nine leading causes of death (235,139) for Black Americans combined. Other leading causes of death include heart diseases, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s.

13.01.2022 On this inaugural National Day of Prayer and Return, the First Lady and I join millions of Christians here in the United States and around the world in prayer, as we turn our hearts to our Lord and Savior. Our great Nation was founded by men and women of deep and abiding faitha faith that has stood the test of time. Four hundred years ago, early American settlers trusted their lives to His providence and braved a voyage to a New World. From the pilgrims who sought His prot...ection aboard the Mayflower to the countless believers who today bow their heads to ask for His guidance during these unprecedented times, our country continues to turn to the Lord. Following in our ancestors’ footsteps we continue the firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence that provides us enduring strength and reassurance in our times of need. The trials and tribulations the American people have faced over the past several months have been great. Yet, as we have seen time and again, the resolve of our citizenryfortified by our faith in Godhas guided us through these hardships and helped to unite us as one Nation under God. As we continue to combat the challenges ahead of us, we must remember the sage words of President George Washington during his first Presidential Address: propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained. As a country and a people, let us renew our commitment to these abiding and timeless principles. Today, I am pleased to join my voice to yours in thanking God for blessing this nation with great power and responsibility. With reverence, humility, and thanksgiving, we beg for His continued guidance and protection.

12.01.2022 Legislation introduced in the Victorian Government today could see Christians hit with heavy fines and lengthy jail times for attempting to convert LGBTQ people to Christianity or teaching certain portions of the Bible. The Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020 will empower the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission to investigate reports of conversion therapy practices which may include activities as simple as prayer. In a report released with the legislation, the government quoted an anonymous survivor who said he had suffered mentally, physically, and spiritually after attending a prayer session with a small group of Christians associated with a church in New South Wales.

12.01.2022 The president of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, has repealed an agreement to allow Planned Parenthood Global to set up an office in the country. On October 7, the country’s Interior Ministry made an agreement with Planned Parenthood to operate in Guatemala. But when that agreement was made public on November 2, pro-life groups made their opposition clearly heard, resulting in the rescinding of the agreement and the resignation of the Interior Minister responsible for its initial approval.

11.01.2022 Over 2.5 million Netflix subscribers have cancelled their accounts over Netflix's promotion of Cuties, a film about a child dancing explicitly in a competition with other girls, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The report is based off Wells Fargo's Steven Cahall, stating the fall comes from Netflix subscribers from the U.S. and Canada leaving the streaming service. Originally, he forecasted a gain of 500,000 subscribers for the quarter, but after looking at the numbers, he saw the massive decline.

11.01.2022 A Tasmanian Liberal senator and her supporters have been warned they could be prosecuted for insulting the state’s anti-discrimination commissioner in a rapidly escalating war over free speech in the transgender debate. Equal Opportunity Tasmania, in an email sent to Claire Chandler and obtained by The Australian, suggests she could face prosecution for hindering and insulting the anti-discrimination commissioner. The row followed Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Sara...h Bolt’s decision to accept a complaint against Senator Chandler over a statement emailed to a constituent that read: Women’s sport, women’s toilets and women’s changing rooms are designed for the female sex and should remain that way. Senator Chandler said about 20 minutes after emailing that letter, an Equal Opportunity Tasmania investigation and conciliation officer emailed her, supplying a sample of emails that the commissioner has received since your public statements about the complaint. Legal action can be taken against any person who uses insulting language towards any person exercising any power under the Anti-Discrimination Act, the email said. It warned that those who hinder or use insulting language against the commissioner could be fined. Senator Chandler told The Australian the threat was extraordinary and she would not rule out a complaint to the Senate privileges committee alleging interference with her work as a parliamentarian. The clear implication here is that they don’t only want me to stop speaking about this issue more broadly, they also want me to tell other Australians to do the same, Senator Chandler said.

10.01.2022 PM Scott Morrison has waded back into the debate over men who think they are women using female toilets. Liberal Senator Claire Chandler could be forced before the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commission after saying women’s toilets were for people of the female sex and should remain that way. Morrison said there was nothing wrong with her comments.... It’s common sense and I would urge a more common sense approach on how some of these agencies operate, he told 2GB on Thursday. The Tasmanian [commission] has had form on other issues in the past. I think people just expect common sense in these areas.

10.01.2022 In January this year, Aussie tennis legend Margaret Court was persecuted for her view that marriage is between a man and a woman. On the 50th anniversary of her world record 24 tennis Grand Slams, she was presented with a trophy in Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena, but not allowed to speak. At the same time, lesser champions John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova ranted against her in a different part of the venue. Now Margaret Court is being penalised again. But this time, the... poor and needy in the community are being made to suffer as well. Margaret now pastors the Victory Life Centre church in Perth. Among other things, her church provides free food, clothing and shelter for the growing number of people who need it. The Margaret Court Community Outreach used to distribute 30 tonnes of food each week. But since the COVID pandemic hit and many people lost their jobs, they’ve been handing out 70 tonnes more than double. As Andrew Bolt said on his Sky News program on 8 October, Something had to give! So Victory Life approached LotteryWest. This body runs WA lotteries and is required to donate to charitable causes. Victory Life applied for a grant to buy a freezer van to help support desperate WA families. But LotteryWest said no. It told staff from the Victory Life Community Services Inc that they needn’t apply in the future either. It said LotteryWest is a major sponsor of the Gay Lesbian Mardi Gras. Any Victory Life request would not be successful because of Pastor Margaret Court’s views on marriage and gender issues. We do not discriminate, LotteryWest told the staff. We sponsor the LGBT parade, but not this church charity outlet. LotteryWest does not appear to know what discriminate means! It is yet another case of people suffering discrimination for stating a view shared by many other Australians. Free speech is under attack in this country as never before. Curiously, section 62 of the WA Equal Opportunity Act says it is an offence to discriminate against another person in the provision of grants on the grounds of a person’s religious convictions. I have written to the WA Equal Opportunity Commission. I have asked them require LotteryWest a WA government agency to obey section 62 of the Equal Opportunity Act, and stop discriminating against Victory Life Community Services, whose help for the needy is vital during the COVID pandemic. Margaret Court is planning to lodge a complaint against Lotterywest with WA's Equal Opportunity Commission. But in the meantime, we need to send a strong statement to Lotterywest that religious discrimination is not okay and that the decision should be reversed immediately. 08.01.2022 President Trump has nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the US Supreme Court. Barrett, a Catholic, will replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg who died recently. Judge Barrett has seven children. Two are children adopted from Haiti and one has Down syndrome.... Democrats have made it clear that they will oppose Barrett, although given they do not have the numbers in the Republican-controlled Senate, it may change little. It has been reported that Barrett’s appointment will create a 6-3 conservative majority on the court. Pro-life advocates have been encouraged by the announcement and are hoping that it may signal the end of Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision finding a right to abortion. I am thrilled with the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett, said pro-life activist and former Planned Parenthood abortion centre manager Abby Johnson. For those who plan to make Barrett’s faith a matter of disqualification, that line of attack is not only inappropriate and bigoted, but bases the nominee’s entire judicial career on everything but her merits and solid qualifications for the position. Johnson said that this is the moment that the pro-life movement and those who hold all life to be dear and treasured have been waiting for. The Judiciary Committee hearings into the appointment of Barrett will commence October 12.

08.01.2022 Woke Social Justice Warriors have had a crying meltdown over the publication of Jordan Peterson's new book: Jordan Peterson has written a new book, and it seems that some staff at his publisher have been reduced to tears of dismay at the idea that they will have to release it. Beyond Order is a sequel of sorts to Peterson’s bestseller Twelve Rules for Life.... Its completion had been in grave doubt until this week, given Peterson’s poor health. Besides battling a severe benzodiazepine addiction, he has had pneumonia, suffered neurological damage and contracted COVID-19 this year. A video message released on Tuesday to announce that he had finished the book shows him looking strained and tired. The news was apparently greeted with shock by staff at the publisher Penguin Random House in Canada, who gathered at a town hall-style meeting to express their concerns. A Vice report described the meeting as tense and emotional as employees cried and expressed dismay. Dozens (of staff) have now filed anonymous complaints, the report added. One anonymous employee told Vice: (Peterson) is an icon of hate speech and transphobia and the fact that he’s an icon of white supremacy, regardless of the content of his book, I’m not proud to work for a company that publishes him. Another discussed how publishing the book will negatively affect their non-binary friends. In a statement, Penguin Random House said: We remain committed to publishing a range of voices and viewpoints.

08.01.2022 You may have been among the many who watched our FamilyVoice webinar with Bernard Gaynor, hosted by Greg Bondar and David d’Lima on 21 September. Bernard’s story is compelling. He is a committed Christian and conservative Catholic who has more courage than most of us. ... Speaking up for the values Aussie soldiers fought for in two world wars has cost him his Army Reserve job and his house, but he has not given up. Bernard served fulltime in the Australian Army from 1999 to 2012, when he joined the Army Reserve with the rank of Major. He was deployed three times to Iraq, where he worked in military intelligence using his extensive knowledge of Arabic language and culture. He was awarded the United States Meritorious Service Medal for his Iraq service. He is also a married father of eight children. He is an advocate for: - family values that work; - the protection of children and all life; and - the preservation of Australian society from those who would replace its Christian heritage. One of the first things Bernard did during the September webinar was to express his appreciation for FamilyVoice Australia, who stood by him during his trials and persecution that began in 2013. FamilyVoice is one of the few conservative associations in Australia to publicly support me, he said. What has been happening in this country the home of the ANZACs is insane. It is madness, spiralling out of control, to think that people are being dragged into court merely for opposing same-sex marriage. But I bring a message of hope, he said. God exists and God is good. There is deep happiness that comes from helping others to do the right thing. Never lose hope that God and goodness will prevail.

07.01.2022 An opinion I proffer without hesitation is that if gratitude, respect and kindness were a daily practice in our lives there would be much less room for negative attitudes and anti-social behaviours, wrote Tasmanian anti-discrimination commissioner Sarah Bolt in her agency’s annual report last year. 02.01.2022 A teenager has been taken into care in Australia’s first known case of parents being judged abusive and potentially harmful for failing to consent to their child’s self-declared transgender identity and wish for irreversible cross-sex hormone treatment. A state children’s court magistrate cited the risk of self-harm when making the protection order in October almost a year after the teenager, who was born female and cannot be named for legal reasons was removed from the f...amily by police at 15 after discussing suicide online. (The authorities say) we will not allow her to change gender, so it’s dangerous for her to come back to our house because we will mentally abuse her they want us to consent to testosterone treatment, the father told The Weekend Australian. The parents, who migrated to Australia a decade ago, said they felt a kind of grief at the loss of their much-loved child, and objected to what they describe as bullying by authorities. The mother said family and friends were shocked at their story especially Australians, they just can’t believe that it happens in Australia. The parents said they knew their daughter had been depressed and in need of help, but they wanted an independent psychologist to consider all possible underlying causes, not just gender issues, and to look into non-invasive treatment options. The teenager had lost friends after a family move at age 13, lacked social skills, had anxiety about eating and body image, and a difficult start to puberty, her mother said. Queensland University’s dean of law Patrick Parkinson, speaking in a personal capacity as a family law expert and critic of gender affirming medical treatment for young people diagnosed with distressing gender dysphoria, said he believed the child removal was the first of its kind and a very troubling development.

02.01.2022 Concerns over an anti-Australia Day class discussion that was held during a Year 8 English lesson at a northwest Sydney high school has seen Education Minister Sarah Mitchell quizzed over the use of political debate in NSW schools. One Nation MLC Mark Latham questioned the NSW Government over the class discussion, which saw Year 8 students at Pennant Hills High School respectfully debate an opinion expressed in a Facebook post about Australia Day. But the Minister hit bac...k, declaring NSW public schools are neutral places for study, with policies in place to allow for the discussion of controversial issues. Mr Latham said he was contacted by a concerned parent of a student at the school, who also revealed a class discussed colonisation and the Stolen Generation as a way of studying the meaning of the word devastating. He questioned when the Minister will fulfil her promise to keep politics out of NSW schools, especially in the teaching of subjects like English. E-Safety is about protecting young people from abuse online, Mr Latham told NewsLocal. This is just a way to introduce highly political content into a Year 8 English class.

02.01.2022 The Andrews Government's proposal is so radical even an LGB group is speaking out: A global wave of criminal laws against any attempt to change someone’s gender identity may end up putting young people who struggle with same-sex attraction on the path to risky hormone drugs and surgery, according to a new group LGB Alliance Australia. The alliance’s Kat Karena, a gay woman, said Victoria’s draft criminal law unveiled on Thursday, with maximum penalties of $10,000 fines and ...10 years in prison, followed the international pattern of confusing mostly bygone gay conversion therapy with the live issue of how best to help under-18s diagnosed with distressing gender dysphoria. Talking therapy and prayer are caught by the ban but the bill makes an exception for interventions, such as counselling, if they are part of gender change when someone transitions from their biological sex to a new, self-declared gender identity. Young adult lesbians are prominent among detransitioners who come to regret taking hormone drugs and undergoing surgery such as mastectomy when they identified as trans "boys". On Tuesday the UK High Court is expected to decide whether under-18s can give informed consent to puberty blocker drugs in a case involving detransitioner Keira Bell, 23, who may be unable to have children after blockers and testosterone.

01.01.2022 A Canadian court has blocked a transgender teenager from undergoing a double mastectomy, granting the 17-year-old youth’s mother an order to stop the procedure the day before it was due to take place. The teenager began hormone therapy in July, and was scheduled to have the gender-confirmation operation in Vancouver last Friday. A British Columbia Supreme Court judge granted an injunction against the teenager’s doctor and cosmetic surgeon after the teenager’s mother sued them.... The mother, identified only as AM to protect the family’s identity, is calling for the doctors to stop treating her child without her permission until the court can rule on whether the teenager has the mental and emotional fitness and maturity to give full consent to the irreversible procedure. In her legal claim she said that the teenager’s doctors prescribed testosterone and scheduled the double mastectomy for the teenager without the mother’s permission. The 17-year-old, called SB in court documents, does not live with the mother or father, who are separated. I had no choice, AM told the news website Postmedia of her decision to seek an injunction, claiming that she and her lawyer had made frequent attempts to contact the doctors but got no reply. I’m in total darkness and I don’t have any rights, she said.
