25.01.2022 It was a very sad night at Fancydax last night, in the cold pouring rain we had to farewell our dear old George's Horse over the rainbow bridge. She was 30 years old and her time had come, she was born with us and died with us, so I know she had a safe and happy existence which very few horses have. She was one of our golden oldies and I am happy she got to live out her days with us in peace. Farewell George's Horse.

24.01.2022 I would like address the topic of SDMD again, there is a lot of good information on the web about this but my personal view on it is this - SDMD is EASILY managed and eliminated if all people test their dogs. Unfortunately a lot of kennels (registered and unregistered) are not testing or will not test - this is very much a case of buyers beware and do your homework. Ask the questions. I am on a couple of waiting lists for future stud dogs for my kennel and I am putting my mon...ey where my mouth is - if the parents of the pup have not been tested I want the pup tested - if a seller will not agree to that then I will not purchase a dog from them. In order to have the best health outcomes it is my responsibility to make sure I do as I say to others to do. I will, and have, missed opportunities for great dogs but I am more interested in having a kennel based on good health outcomes than a kennel based on the best dogs with potential underlying health issues. SDMD could be eliminated in a reasonably short space of time if everyone got on board with testing. Please, when you purchase a pup, ask this question.

22.01.2022 Things have been quiet on our front, we are purchasing another farm and are in the full swing of moving cattle there and starting to tidy up to get the house ready for tenants. We have a beef cattle business and this is our third farm which we are really pleased to be adding to our operations. We are so blessed to live in a beautiful part of Australia. The farm pictured at Millaa Millaa - FNQ.

21.01.2022 We don't have any dog news but we have been shopping at Big Country 2021 yesterday.

18.01.2022 A very sad day today at Fancydax, my beautiful Candy must have been bitten by a snake and died at 1 PM while I was holding her head in my lap. Her symptoms of internal bleeding, laboured breathing and paralysis lead me to believe it was a Taipan. Will have to be extra careful as she was less than 100m from the house in an area frequented by all of us including dogs and children.

15.01.2022 Happy weekend all

15.01.2022 At Fancydax we have a beautiful orchid collection. I am not much of a gardener but I do love orchids and this one is particularly pretty, only flowers for one day with sprays over 1 metre long. Just glorious.

14.01.2022 Today I took Willow for a ride on Murray, we have been so busy lately we never get time to just relax and do pony stuff. Honestly, this pony would have to rate as the best pony I have ever had the privilege to own. He is worth his weight in gold and while we did not pay much for him, by pony standards, I would have paid $10,000 for this little man because of what he represents for my daughter - well bred, well mannered, safe, predictable and just an all round gentleman. We w...ill never part with this pony, when Willow has learnt to ride he can retire comfortably here and live out his days. Leading this pony along quietly down the road today made me reflect on lots of things including my sausage dogs and how important it is to breed good quality dogs that will offer the right home so many advantages including being well adjusted, predictable temperament, security knowing all the boxes have been ticked, giving people certainty. It made me realise I am so glad I am ANKC registered and able to provide future puppy homes the same security we have with our pony (as a comparable situation).

04.01.2022 I sound like a party pooper but I don't like fireworks for lots of reasons, primarily animal safety. I did see the funny side of this though!

03.01.2022 Not miniature Dachshund related but I am so pleased - one of my baby Red Tailed Black Cockatoos has been bought to be trained as a therapy bird. I could not be happier seeing my baby girl going to do such an important job.
