19.01.2022 1. Benefit of Biochar - Stores Nutrients Biochar is a very porous material. The pores are like a magnet for nutrients. The inside of the pores is negative and... the nutrients (calcium, potassium, magnesium) are positive. They attract each other! Nutrients move into the pores and are stored there. This is how biochar increases the nutrient storage of your soil. Normally, your nutrients will go into deeper soil layers or get washed away. With biochar the nutrients are held in the top soil close to your plant roots. Nutrients will always be available to plants! This means you need less fertilizer, less harmfull chemicals and you can safe your money Biochar is natural and will improve your soil for years!

19.01.2022 Re-Charging Biochar Biochar recharges itself when you fertilize! Think about your soil and biochar as one unit. Biochar and soil are not separate, biochar is ...part of your soil. If your biochar has no more nutrients, it will take them from the soil. If you fertilize your soil, you indirectly re-charge your biochar. If you fertilize soil without biochar, many nutrients are lost. But biochar stores the nutrients This means the same amount of nutrients lasts longer in your soil :) You need less fertilizer for the same effect... James Balikenda, Kipkorir Corn

14.01.2022 Grow cucumbers? Back in 2017 we were funded by NACC under the National Landcare Program to trial using biochar in cucumbers. The aim of the trial was to see if we could use the biochar to hold nutrients on our sandy soils to reduce fertiliser use and leaching into our waterways. Unfortunately, we were not able to continue the trials over the longer term but we got some very positive early results and aim to do more trials this year.
