23.01.2022 Good morning, see you early today, couple of stalls not on today, but plenty of great food and produce

22.01.2022 Special heads up to all our customers, the market will go ahead as always, but Paul the baker will not be on site tomorrow, but back next week and same for the BBQ. STILL GREAT SAVINGS, GREAT COFFEE & THE USUAL SUPERB STALLS.....

21.01.2022 Come along and support the markets. Fresh produce all Australian made. Entertainment, relaxing atmosphere.

20.01.2022 Come down and see us at the Old spot on Saturday and Smithfield market on sunday

20.01.2022 The Smithfield Market has closed down. We were unable to get "enough" reliable stallholders and our customer base has diminished, resulting in good stall holders losing money. We tried marketing as hard as we could on a limited basis, we worked hard to get more producers, so we could be competitive, but failed. We still have our Wednesday Midweek market and our Big Saturdays at the Old Spot hotel, and we will be expanding our Windsor market over coming weeks (Sundays) In the ...new year, we may try again, but will not even consider the ideal, unless we can secure reliable fresh produce growers We would like to thank all the great stall holders who worked with us for so long now to get the market going, many loosing money for a long period of time, and of course those valued customers who stayed with us, through thick and thin. It was quite a struggle to get the market passed all the red tape, red tape that stopped us using signs and posters, which may have helped. Special thanks also to the generosity of the owner of the Smithfield Hotel, for the use of his land and his staffs great support. As they say, you can try and lead a horse to water, but not make them drink, we tried so hard, but sadly we failed. Farm Direct is around to stay, just seems Smithfield was not the ideal area for us. Mark :(

17.01.2022 Our Midweek market **WEDNESDAYS AT THE OLDSPOT** Need your support, we have applications from more small farms, but need more customers to help them out.....so please drop in and share the love. YOU WILL SAVE MONEY, buy fresh and local and you are investing back into local jobs, hot coffee, iced coffee, hot food, vegan food, fruit and veg, baked goods, free range eggs, and so much more.

14.01.2022 UPDATE 26/3/20 FARM DIRECT MARKETS "STAYING OPEN"

14.01.2022 Our smaller market, so lot of room, easy access and parking, low prices on any produce grown by the stall holders, baked goods, and if you start using it more, I will make it bigger with a larger range/ Safe, affordable, fresh and local......PLEASE SHARE

12.01.2022 Smithfield Farm Direct "SUNDAY" is proud to bring in some amazing live music this Sunday with live Brass 9;30 until 11;30, .........Make sure you are in early, bring a seat if you like, grab a hot breaky, the best coffee, and shop in the breaks :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2YShuD1prg

11.01.2022 As of midday tomorrow, all of the following will be closed: Pubs, clubs, licensed premises within hotels, gyms, indoor sporting venues, entertainment venues, cinemas, casinos, restaurants and cafes will be restricted to takeaway only, churches and other places of worship. I will therefore call for stricter social distancing at our markets, so as to never give the government an excuse to shut us down......I believe the hotels we operate from will have their bottle shops open.... I would like to see greater distances observed by all customers, for those who find that hard to achieve, please then consider face masks during shopping lines. We will ensure walk ways are increased in size. If you are on a budget, it is best practice to shop between stalls, as some growers are able to keep the produce they grow at lower prices, and can adapt to demand better. Please wash your hands or use sanitizer before and after shopping. If you feel unwell or have been with a person who is not well, please stay home and send a family member or friend to do your shopping. Can my stall holders please contact me over the next few days with ideas how to improve safety at the market. See more

10.01.2022 Farm Direct markets are so busy it looks like we will sell out today, but we can adapt by producing more, because that’s what we do

09.01.2022 I will refrain from closing this page, if we can get enough stall holders at any time, that will commit to back the market for a minimum of 6 weeks, I will re-open and try again. So if you are keen, message this page, or sms Mark on 0403379500, once I have 3 fruit and veg committed, I will call out for other stalls, and I suspect many who loved and stood by the market may come back.

04.01.2022 DO YOU BACK AUSTRALIAN FARMERS AND PRODUCERS? FARM DIRECT MARKETS, were not started as a business, it is a movement to help support local small farms, local businesses and small producers, while supporting the community by ensuring access to AFFORDABLE FRESH LOCAL PRODUCT We have been through the wars to Keep the markets open, along the way, receiving excellent support and being nominated for a variety of achievement awards. Sadly, bad weather and a drop-in support is adve...rsely affecting our midweek and Sunday markets, markets I do not want to lose. Markets are kind of fickle, we rely on a good customer base to attract stalls and farms, yet it works both ways, customers are attracted to busy markets. Stalls risk loses, if they bring lots of fresh produce, and it does not sell, they lose too much. Right now, we need more customers at our Wednesday and Sunday markets, more stalls, and your support, or we risk losing them, and with that, a few small businesses and local jobs will be put at risk. Our prices are amazing and represent great family savings, our produce is all Australian grown or produced, so no dodgy labelling to contend with. At a time, Australian Farmers are doing it tough, they need you. The Markets promote healthy eating, offer free entry, free parking and free tastings, great local entertainment and a support base for local charities. Please consider your support, sharing of our posts and by inviting your friends. If the support is not enough, then we may have to close some of the markets, which would be such a shame, but in any case our larger Salisbury market is there to stay, for as long as YOU support us. If you have a small business, work from home or have a smaller farm, we are here to help you in any way we can. Wednesday & Saturday at the Old Spot hotel, Sundays at the Smithfield and Windsor hotels, 8 am until 12:30 pm when we start to pack up. Mark Aldridge Community Advocate 0403379500 See more

03.01.2022 NEXT WEDNESDAY AT FARM DIRECT "OLD SPOT HOTEL" APRIL 1......Special Market. To avoid coping with social distancing at this Saturdays Market we will be bringing in extra stalls teach Wednesdays, in the hope we can get those Saturday customers who can utilise Wednesdays to change days, to spread out our customer base. A larger premium Riverland grower, extra bakers and special interest long life foods will be introduced, the market has more space, easier parking and most of the same stall holders. Please consider if you are able to shop WEDNESDAYS. Same hours of 8 am until 12;30 pm and both markets comply with the present Coronavirus shut down laws.

02.01.2022 Still looking for a reliable hot food stall to serve our Smithfield customers? Maybe a fundraiser stall doing BBQ food? Mark 0403379500
