20.01.2022 " Even though we can't recreate what no longer exists, there are things we can do to stimulate the natural process of regeneration. First we must rein in our destructive ways and then provide conditions to encourage the return and regrowth of life. We can liberate land and creeks from rubbish, concrete or asphalt, cultivate specific vegetation and even reintroduce plant or animal species that were once present. But mainly, we must give Earth's restorative powers time to act. ... Organic farming is beginning to become an economic alternative, as demand for pesticide-free produce grows, allowing soil organisms to thrive and multiply in the service of productivity. And individuals are becoming involved in small local conservation projects that enable many forms of life to co-exist with human beings." - David Suzuki, The Sacred Balance . . . . #healthynourishtreats #realfood #healthylifestyle #ethicalbran #nature #ethicalliving #natural #shoplocal #wellness #cleanproducts #ethicallysourced #sustainability #earthloving #sustainable #supportsmallbusiness #shopsmall #ecoconscious #sustainableliving #ethicallysourced

09.01.2022 Over a year ago this little project was born. We thought of it as a way to help local families connect with local farmers avoiding big shops, reducing their footprint, supporting local economy, and getting the best produce available in return. We knew there were lots of businesses making veggie boxes, but thought a more helpful way for families was to let them choose their produce and make their own grocery shopping list (even though it doubles the work for us ). So here we ...are. During the whole 2019 we struggled, but kept going, a lot of trial and error, shaping things on the way, because none of us are business people but still love the idea we had: Connection, respecting nature’s timing by helping people eat seasonally, and letting you have total control of what goes in your box, trying to involve as many farms as possible in each delivery. Community minded. We love doing this. We are purpose driven, not profit. We also know this situation we’re all living now is a very special one, keeping us extra busy at the moment. But as this virus disappears and everyone goes ‘back to normal’, we’ll keep going, keep doing your groceries, keep putting them together in our hand-stamped, plastic-free boxes with all our love and dedication. Because our motivation comes from way before we even thought this horrible pandemic could happen. And it feeds itself with your incredible feedback every Thursday. So Happy birthday to us! And infinite THANK YOU to every one of you, the ones that know and trust us since day 1, the new customers that love what we’re doing and all the farmers involved Let’s keep it up, avoid big shops & industrialised food that kills our planet; and support our community. Stay safe, Much love, Rudi & Tina . 09.01.2022 We live in a hinterland paradise! You don’t have to go far to find the perfect spot. We like to set up camp in the backyard and cook our food on the fire with friends. Chuck an assortment of diced vegetables in a cast iron pot on the coals. Add lentils or your choice of meat, pour in some water or stock, then salt and herb to taste. Serve, kick back, and enjoy the view! #vegetarianfood #organicfruit #supportlocalfarming #healthylifestyle

07.01.2022 Beetroot is full of antioxidants and packed with nutrients and vitamins. They are loaded with goodness such as amino acid, fibre, manganese, and potassium. You can eat it all, roots and leaves! The leaves are more bitter but they are high in iron, calcium and vitamin A and C and work well to add a bit of punch to a salad, or a stirfry. On the other hand, the root is sweet and good to eat raw, cooked, and pickled! We enjoy beets, roots and all, in a spring juice with other seasonal fruit and vegetables like carrot, celery and apple.

05.01.2022 We’re proud to say that we don’t use any plastic, only if the stall provides their product already packaged. There are tricks to keep your veggies plastic-free and fresh when they get to you. Celery and carrots stay crisp immersed in water. Cut the tops of your beets to stop them from going soggy (don't throw the greens, eat them too!). Keep the roots like your beans: in an open container with a damp cloth on top. Stay tuned for more plastic-free hacks.

04.01.2022 A must watch for the weekend! So we can all.understand how important healthy soil is and how our everyday decisions on what we eat and where we buy it directly affects this and the world we're leaving for future generations.

04.01.2022 Greens for life!

03.01.2022 In times of uncertainty, a big part on the world realised the importance of bringing back our connection with nature. Each one in their own way. Some started growing their own food, some took their time to connect with themselves, some started realising the importance of supporting local growers and the benefit that brings to the economy and the environment. Shortly after that, we started seeing major changes. Everything slowed down. We were giving Mother nature a break. Let's keep going that way. Let's not forget we only have one planet and our everyday actions matter. #knowyourfarmer #knowyourfood #farmtoyou #supportlocal #supportlocalfarmers #knowyourfarmerknowyourfood #farmersmarket #byronbay #sustainability #nature

02.01.2022 EATING SEASONALLY... Can help the economy, the environment and your health. It's easy to eat seasonally in the summer when farmers markets are filled with so much variety. But a lot of people forget about eating seasonally in winter, perhaps because there tends to be less variety. Many ancient and holistic medical traditions view seasonal eating as the cornerstone to good health, both physically and emotionally. Foods from particular seasons can help the body meet season-spec...ific challenges such as winter colds and flus. Eating seasonally means that you get the best tasting, healthiest food available. The nutrient density of fruits and veggies begins to decline as soon as they are harvested, so buying locally and in season means you're getting produce with so many health benefits, because it hasn't been sitting in a shipping container across the ocean to get to your hands.
