23.01.2022 I have been asked several questions about EPIPENs and training points. An EPIPEN is a general reference for emergency life threatening allergic reaction or anaphylaxis treatment. EPI is for Epinephrine a US drug name, in Australia it is called Adrenaline. Adrenaline is a naturally occurring hormones in the human body from the adrenal gland and is part of the endocrine system, an a key part of the flight/fright/freeze reaction. For emergency use their are 2 doses for Adult... (Coloured Yellow for 30kg +) is 0.3 mg and Child Jnr (Coloured Green for 10-20 kg) 0.15 mg of adrenaline. HLTAID003 Provide First Aid and 22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis, both cover EPIPEN use. In Australia you can purchase EPIPENs at any pharmacy. If you have an allergy and require for emergency use, a GP can issue a prescription which you can get cheaper and you can get cheaper again for concessions. The EPIPEN retail for approximately: Epipen Adult Inj 0.3mg Adrenaline - Private$99.99, with a Prescription $38.80,Concessions $6.80 or Safety Net Free Epipen Junior Inj 0.15mg Adrenaline - Private$99.99, with a Prescription $38.80,Concessions $6.80 or Safety Net Free This video clip is good, but here some important tips: 1. Do not remove the blue safety cap until your actually about to use, as it wont accidentally miss fire the needle and waste the Medication. 2. Its going to hurt, so when your drive it into the thigh dont flinch away. Drive it in and hold for 10 secs hard against the thigh. 3. Yes the needle will go through clothin. 4. If injecting into a child or person, get a good hold of their leg, tell them its going to hurt. Then drive the needle into the leg, force the EPIPEN and the hand holding the leg together for 10 secs, so the medication isnt wasted. 5. When the EPIPEN has been activated, the needle reacts into a plastic safety guard 6. You can generally buy in packs of 2 7. Store the EPIPEN away from sunlight in a temp range of 15-25c, and Expire 18 months from date of manufacture. 8. Once used get the patient to an emergency department or Ambulance for emergency treatment. #firstaid #rescuediver #EPIPEN #Allergic #emergencytreatment #EFR #PADIRTO #FARSTARR

13.01.2022 A couple of pics from dives in Gili Trawangan using Kaiser X4 with a red lens. Previous pics were taken without a lense. I tweeked with a simple image modification app as part of windows 10. Not as advanced as photoshop, but not a bad result. Next purchase will be underwater stills camera, for better single snaps.... Kaiser x4 provides a cheaper option to gopro. Providing both photo and video option. The gopro accessories fit the unit. Overall a good starter underwater camera, to figure out if video is preferred or if a more dedicated digital stills camera is wanted. A recommendation would be an underwater digital photography course to enhance knowledge and photo software modifications. And advice from a underwater photographer on equipment needs. But thats another course and knowledge to gain.

09.01.2022 So two weeks ago with fitness being an important part of health and needed to dive and treat. I started back into training 1st Mar 20 was a fitness run 2.4km i...n 14:05. Today for birthday present to myself, I donate $30 to local rotary charity and took part in the Harriers 5km Jog/Walk for me. So two weeks later the 5km Jog/Walk is 37:05. Now just to go a little further possibly 10km or there is the Melbourne marathon in Oct 20.

08.01.2022 Today Dive from Gili Trawangan. Met a Scubanaut with a full face mask and Wireless Comms to a friend. Range up to 50m and expansive panoramic.

06.01.2022 I have been diving and instructing with the Oceanic Excursion QLR 4 over the last 3 weeks. This BCD is very open and easy to fit into, I found the depth comfort adjusting cummerbund to be a great feature especially for a more solid build. I have 110cm chest and used the large BCD. The integrated quick release system and tank strap weight pouch, allowed for balanced weight distribution and trim/buoyancy control. The are is plenty of D Rings for attachments and accessories..., a must for an instructor or DM, but highly useful for tech diver with twins. The large lift capability can be and feature if using twins. The lift system is almost a hybrid wing system, allowing for vertical or horizontal plane primary buoyancy. For descent I personally found the deflator hose to a little slow, but the right shoulder dump valve great for vertical descent and the rear left hip dump valve great for diving descent. The deflator hose was perfect for minor adjustments for buoyancy for neutral or on ascent. Overall I would rate 4.7/5 an excellent buy especially with the parts and services guarantee. I picked mine up from diving frontiers in Balcatta WA Australia, some of the best value gear and service cover in the store I have found in Australia, they have an online store as well. #divingfrontiers #ladsofscuba #scubadiving #oceanic

03.01.2022 So I am on gili trawangan Indonesia. I happen to have my massage table as promised to bring on next diving trip to treat long standing issues. I was in mid massage of a divemaster client at her home with shoulder dysfunction issues. Similiar to alot of divers and office people. Airconditioner going, music quietly playing in back ground. Very relaxed and tranquil. When theirs was a black out. Music airconditioner and lights all gone. ... So to the mobile and travel battery. Massage by torch light and the corrs gentle playing. Not massages and treatments I do are on clinics and spas. Being a mobile massage therapist requires adaptability, resilience, problem solving and good clinical knowledge to provide a positive outcome. The vision to achieve. Outcome divemaster client 80% improvement, painfree movement. Fully to dive function the next day. Job done.

02.01.2022 The Gili Trawangan Lombok run a conservation program to encourage turtle population. Turtles lay eggs on the beaches and to prevent innocent tourists accidentally stepping on the mounds and damaging the eggs. A large cage is placed over them and labelled. There cage will then be removed just prior to hatching and a swarm of hatchlings take off to the ocean. To boost population.

02.01.2022 Providing support to fire crews at Swan Reach base camp. A few hours massaging and logistics support can provide relief and recharge crews in a rest and recovery break.

01.01.2022 Scuba Steve shaking hands with my first scuba diver hes booked in for his open water divers later on. Well done Leo. And thanks to #divingfrontiers
