25.01.2022 The warehouse in Brookvale where it all began. The Farriss Brothers, as they were called at that point in 1979, paid $5 a week towards electricity in return for a rehearsal space. The boys were confident and trustworthy and I felt comfortable handing over the keys to the warehouse that was always filled with 20 or more vehicles. They never let me down and this was the beginning of our friendship, I often stuck my head in late at night and listened to them putting new songs t...ogether and preparing for their first few local gigs. They were determined to make it big beyond Australia and their work ethic reflected this, even as young as they were. Shortly after, the name changed to INXS and their journey began, the original line up didn’t change until Michael passed away 19 years later. www.alongfortheride.com.au #alongfortheride #readthebook #fastcarsandrockstars #inxs #inxsmusic #michaelhutchence #music #sydney #thefarrissbrothers
24.01.2022 The two little Suzuki Swifts sponsored by the band in 1988 at Amaroo Park in Sydney. We gave one of the INXS cars away as a prize in a huge competition at the grand finale at Oran Park which was a great publicity stunt for the band, myself and Suzuki. Here’s myself and Greg Toepfer sneaking some laps for the Channel 7 promotional footage while the rest of the competitors ran their qualifiers. Shortly after I headed to the US with the band on their KICK tour. Fun times! #alongfortheride #inxs #suzuki #suzukiswift #suzukiracing #michaelhutchence #ontour #motorracing #racingcars #inxsmusic
20.01.2022 Clement and Augustin ‘Monster’ Wignall out of the way! 1983 Good times racing the minis before the sponsorship deal with INXS kicked off! #miniracing #minicooper #motorracing #alongfortheride #inxs #australianmotorsport
10.01.2022 The first of the INXS sponsored cars, a straight forward sponsorship deal that enabled me to score a co-drive with Melbourne Ford legend, Murray Carter in the Bathurst 1000 in 1983. That’s me on the left, with a story behind the INXS cap I’m wearing that caused some friction with the band’s management. More about that in the book... #alongfortheride #bathurst1000 #inxs #inxsmusic #mazda #motorsport #motorracing #mazdaracing #80s
