25.01.2022 #QuizTime - should both cars be travelling in the lanes as shown? There are no intersections or other vehicles nearby. #QuizAnswer no, the blue car should not... be travelling in the right lane. On multi-lane roads over 80km/h (i.e. 90km/h or more) or if the road has a ‘keep left unless overtaking’ sign, you must not drive in the right-hand lane unless you are overtaking, turning right or making a U-turn and are indicating right, driving in congested traffic, avoiding an obstruction or using a special purpose lane that you are allowed to be in. 02.01.2022 #QuizTime - what is the speed limit for road trains? a) 70km/hr b) 80km/hr c) 90km/hr... d) 100km/hr #QuizAnswer is C the speed limit for road trains is 90km/hr! As these vehicles can be over 50 metres long it takes a long time to overtake one, so only do so if theres a lot of clear road ahead of you!
02.01.2022 #QuizTime - a driver in a good vehicle on a dry road is travelling at 50km/h. They slam on their brakes and take 12m to come to a complete stop, just before hit...ting the tree. Under these same conditions, if the driver's speed started at 60km/h instead of 50km/h, at approximately what speed would they hit the fallen tree while braking? a) 10km/h b) 20km/h c) 30km/h d) 40km/h #QuizAnswer is C - the speed would be just over 30km/h on impact! When youre on the road, its important to remember that even a small increase in speed can lead to much longer braking distances and higher impact speeds. Factoring in reaction time, the impact speed would be even higher.
