25.01.2022 It's another inspiring and open-minded week here at 'Feather and Ink' HQhence the need for an extra-large caffeinated hit! We recently wrapped up the edit of a fantastic Women's Fiction meets Urban Fantasy novel, and today's (almost finished) project is a book on The Gospel of John. Our other projects include a Medieval Scottish Highland Romance and educational guides on learning Dutch and Portuguese. (The pictured coffee is from Cuppa Drive Through Coffee, Moonah, Hobart, T...asmania. The gorgeous Biocup Art Series design is called 'Busy Bees' by @tiacarrigan. #editorslife #editorsofinstagram #bookeditor #bookedit #bookedits #bookediting #editors #manuscripts #featherandinkediting #writinginspo #writerslifeforme #writerslifestyle #cappuccinolover #biocupartseries #tiacarrigan #homeofficelife #homeofficeday #lovewhatyoudodowhatyoulove #lovemycareer #supportlocalbusinesses #hobarttasmania #cuppadrivethroughcoffee See more

22.01.2022 Today, at ‘Feather and Ink’ HQ, Lara delved into a client’s book on homesteading! Wow, what an incredible way to live. One could easily be persuaded to give up the city life for the country, especially if the idea of being a homesteader excites you not to mention how it would do wonders for writing inspiration! Andreas Eriksson, Heather Ford & Lara Colrain.

20.01.2022 Manic Monday is certainly here! Our current projects include: a business book on Agile; an ultimate guide to Crystals; a biography of Saint Faustina Kowalska; two Mafia romances; three thrillers; a manuscript acquisition, and a plot review. It's a good thing our editor-in-chief (Lara) has this Sri Lankan Root Vegetable & Ancient Grain Curry with Cauliflower & Brown Rice mix to keep the editing power going! #editorslife #editorsofinstagram #bookeditor #bookedit #bookedits #bookediting #editors #manuscripts #busybusybusy #featherandinkediting #wellnessbowl #healthyfoodchoices #lovewhatyoudodowhatyoulove #lovemycareer #manicmonday #manicmondays #happymonday

19.01.2022 It's been a busy few months for the team here at Feather and Ink Editing Services, but we always try to find the time to read for pleasure! While visiting France recently, one of our editors noticed that it's common for mini 'book exchange' shelves to be dotted around shopping centres and public places. Anyone is free to drop off books and swap them for ones on the shelf, but you don't need to leave a book to borrow one to read. We think that this is such a simple and lovely idea! We're interested to know what books you would leave if you had the chance to join in on an anonymous 'book exchange'? Write your suggestions in the comments below!

16.01.2022 We are LOVING the BioCup Art Series! Having careers in the arts industry that revolve around creativity means our morning coffees are just that little bit more inspiring when sipping from one of these uniquely designed cups. Plus, it also means that we’re promoting our fellow peeps in the arts community! This artwork is called The Western Quoll by Melski McVee. As these are so beautiful, we’ll be doing regular posts each time we snag a new one from our local coffee stop!

10.01.2022 ‘For as long as there have been humans, there have been unicorns, too...’ It’s still school holidays here in Oz, and this is the current book curiosity of our youngest editor-in-training, five-year-old Sienna! A magical book indeed with gorgeous illustrations. We can’t believe there’s an ACTUAL unicorn society!

07.01.2022 What does an editor do in her downtime? Paint, apparently! There have been A LOT of indoor activities going on at Feather and Ink's HQ due to the pandemic isolation rules. So, Lara thought she'd start sharing these surprisingly cathartic creations, along with some editing tips for all those creative souls out there! "Here's the first writing tip of the day: Dialogue," Mermaid Babushka says. Rule #1: Generally, you should always use quotation marks to surround your dialogue a...nd close it with either a comma or period (full stop), depending on your choice of dialogue tag or if there's no tag. A dialogue tag tells your readers which character is speaking, such as "Mermaid Babushka says." The difference between the dialogue and the dialogue tag is simple. In the above sentence, the dialogue is: "Here's the first writing tip of the day: Dialogue," The dialogue tag is: Mermaid Babushka says. Alternatively, you could use an action beat instead of a dialogue tag and end the dialogue with a period. An action beat is something a character does, such as: "Here's the first writing tip of the day: Dialogue." Mermaid Babushka smiles and gives a flick of her scale-covered tail. Action beats and dialogue tags can also come before the dialogue. Action beat: Mermaid Babushka smiles and gives a flick of her scale-covered tail. "Here's the first writing tip of the day: Dialogue." Dialogue tag: Mermaid Babushka says, "Here's the first writing tip of the day: Dialogue." For dialogue without tags or action beats, always put a period at the end of the dialogue and never outside of the quotations marks: "Here's the first writing tip of the day: Dialogue." Happy writing, everyone! #editorslife #writerslifeforme #editors #editorsofinstagram #bookeditor #bookeditorslife #writinginspiration #writinginspo #lovewhatyoudodowhatyoulove #neverstopwriting #happywednesdayeveryone #happywednesdayyall #featherandinkediting #kmart #kmartaus #isolationcreation #selfisolating #paintingwithkids #stayinghome #havingfun #paintinginspiration #babushka #babushkadolls #matryoshka #matryoshkadoll

07.01.2022 Back at HQ/the home office after staying at a beautiful Federation cottage for the Easter break. This image pretty much represents me (Lara) whenever I go on holiday... All the writing feels! The area where I stayed was special too as it was near where my grandparents used to live when I was a child. So many happy memories. Thus, naturally, a short story was born on my travelsWorking title: ‘Old leather, Gingernut Biscuits, and Dust’. The ‘old leather’ refers to the smell ...of Pop’s Holden Tarana, the ‘gingernut biscuits’ are emblematic of Nan’s MANY cookie jars, and the ‘dust’ is symbolic regarding how those memories have been left to age with time. Oh to still be at that cottage... #editorslife #bookeditor #writerslife #wordsmith #wordsmiths #writerslifeforme #shortstorywriter #shortstory #chaseyourdream #chaseyourdreams #writerslifestyle #writinginspiration #writinginspirations #writinginspo #inspiration #neverstopwriting #homeoffice #lovemyjob #featherandinkediting #autumnvibes #happywednesday #happywednesdayeveryone See more
