24.01.2022 Tomorrow's mechanics class introduces us to to the Zornhaw, the fast and furious foundation of Liechtenauer's 5 "hidden" cuts. Breaking most of the rules in its single-minded pursuit of length and speed like a rocket from your shoulder. Footscray class starts at 3:00PM.

22.01.2022 Unfortunately, our regular Canterbury Hall is in use for the next two weeks. The Canterbury classes on 14 March 2020 and 21 March 2020 will be at the 19th Camberwell Scout Hall at 1-3 Bonner St, Camberwell VIC 3124

21.01.2022 Tomorrow's class is on! In Mechanics, we'll be looking at how to do the Krumphaw, the turbo boosted cut that takes corners so well that it "gets there faster". Footscray is on 3:00pm at the usual place.

21.01.2022 This week's duelling sword class will look at combining the elements we have learned to create cohesive fencing.

20.01.2022 Unfortunately, this will mean that we are unable to commence classes until August. Sorry everyone.

18.01.2022 In light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation in Victoria FSV is currently assessing our ability to provide our regular classes over the coming weeks and months. For the moment, classes will be proceeding as scheduled, however we are putting in place a number of measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. We ask you to read the following information carefully.... Please do not attend or participate in classes if you: - Have traveled internationally in the 14 days prior to the class; - Have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to the class; - You, or someone you have been in close contact with, has been tested for COVID-19 and has not yet been provided a negative result; or - You are at high risk of severe health consequences if you contract COVID-19, such as due to a pre-existing medical condition. Most importantly we ask that you do not attend class if you or someone you live with are, or have recently been, sick. In particular, do not attend class if you or someone you live with has had a fever in the prior three days, or any other respiratory symptoms such as a cough or sore throat which started less than ten days ago. We will also be placing some restrictions on activities in class: - In order to maintain a 1.5m distance between participants, there will no grappling or activities involving direct physical contact; - Club protective equipment including masks and gloves will not be shared, and will be allocated to individuals; - Club swords will be available for use but will not be shared between participants during a class, sword grips will be covered, labelled, and changed and disinfected between classes; and - We ask participants not to share personal gear unless the same conditions are met, particularly that any equipment is used by only a single person during any given class and is thoroughly disinfected between classes. Time will be allocated for regular hand-washing during classes and hand sanitiser available at all times. If you have any questions about anything above or would like to discuss if you should come to class, please ask via Facebook messenger, e-mail, phone or any other method - the health and safety of our members and the wider community is our number one concern during this time. We will endeavor to update you on any further developments as soon as possible. We thank you for your cooperation.

12.01.2022 Tomorrow's tactics class builds on our knowledge of the Zornhaw, looking at what to do if by some freak occurrence, it doesn't defeat your opponent immediately. Footscray class starts at 4:30PM.

11.01.2022 Tomorrow's class is on! In Tactics, we'll be looking at how the Krumphaw is one of, if not the most versatile cuts you will learn. Canterbury is at 4:30pm at the usual venue.

03.01.2022 Update regarding FotS2020 and covid-19. As you are all probably aware, Australia has recently increased measures to slow the introduction and spread of covid-1...9. Some of these measures will directly impact our ability to deliver FotS2020 as planned. In particular, the newly introduced requirement that all international visitors arriving from overseas must self-isolate for 14 days after entering the country will mean our international guest instructors may be unable to participate in the event. As the workshops provided by our international instructors are a key component of FotS, we feel there is no way for us to provide an event in April that would be up to the standard expected by us or our participants. For this reason, we must regretfully inform you that FotS2020 will not be proceeding as planned in April 2020. We are currently in the process of trying to reschedule FotS2020 for a date later in the year and will provide an update with further information as soon as we can. In the meantime, we will be refunding all registration payments received to this point. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience, but recognise the important public health imperative to reduce the spread of covid-19 over the coming weeks and months. We hope to see you all later in the year. The FotS2020 organising team
