20.01.2022 Congratulations to Arts Academy student Sam Dolan and alumni Sarah Morrison, Paige Duggan and Lizzie Tongway for their recognition in the 2020 Ballarat Arts Foundation Awards. All four emerging artists with a Ballarat connection were awarded BAF Awards to help them pursue their careers. The award will assist Sam Dolan, an actor in his final year of studies, to create digital content as a response to how the performance industry is shifting in the current climate including sho...rt-form videos. Sarah Morrison, a professional performer on the world stage, will purchase new software to further develop her script-writing. Lizzie Tongway, a talented ceramicist (photos pictured below), will produce high quality platters and develop a range of garden décor thanks to her award, while Paige Duggan, a multi-talented artist and musician will focus on her hand-drawn Australian native plants, allowing her to upgrade the computer technology that is an integral part of her art practice. 17.01.2022 A hybrid learning model was the key to completing semester two classes when staff and students were given the all-clear to return to their Brisbane campus in August, a Federation University Australia researcher says. Management Lecturer Dr Alana Thomson and colleague Bernadette Willans, who is Senior Learning Skills Advisor at the Brisbane campus, led the development of a hybrid teaching model in a bid to keep students engaged as COVID-19 restrictions eased in Queensland. It means dressing up in traditional outfits, applying Mehndi, decorating your house with lights and candles, eating traditional food, and enjoying the company of family. As someone studying a Master of Social Work, community plays a big role in my professional career. As a social worker, it is important to learn and understand different cultures and ...traditions. Diwali festival has a huge significance in India. Being part of a community gives opportunities to connect with people, to get support to reach goals, to feel safe and secure."
