24.01.2022 Lets talk treats This packet really frustrated me! It was on the side of a rainbow ice cream box (yes I feed my child rainbow ice cream and have some myself sometimes). The message that this box is sending is that there is some kind of hierarchy with treats based on their caloric value. What I aim to make clear to my clients is that a treat is a treat. With intuitive eating you eat the treat that you most feel like and dont opt for a treat you dont just because it...s lower in calories. Because you know what everyone does when they do that? They cant stop thinking about the treat they actually wanted. In summary dont eat a ice block if you feel like a piece of cake and dont eat a piece of cake if you feel like an ice block. Ill admit I do often use this time to have some peace or maybe send a few emails, Ill put my girl in front of the tv to eat because its easy. But I have noticed that when we create a platter or share plate together and eat together she is much more adventurous and enjoys the experience. She will eat things I wouldnt have imagined shed try. So sometimes shell be eating mini Pringles followed by a muesli ...bar, but at other times I will definitely schedule our meals and snacks together and offer a range of safe and challenging foods for her to try with me. I dont often share personal information with my clients however you are all welcomed into my home this week via either phone or video chat so I thought I could give you some insight given the circumstances. . Im married and have a 3 year old daughter. We all live together in an open plan house which is lovely and bright however it makes phone and video consults a little challenging when we a...re all home, please ignore the Wiggles and mess in the background. I have two dogs that also like to chime in every now and then, especially with us all home they are loving the fun. . Most of all Id like you to know that Im here for you during this time if you do need advice or an assessment. It might not be as professional as I would like but its a chaotic time for all of us.
